2015-11-20 Thread Wangtim
The bug is still here in OTA8, nothing change since OTA7 for me. It's still
impossible to change the phone number or to set the call forwarding options to
"off".
Was it supposed to be fixed ?
I'm in France, with Orange as the mobile network provider.

[Bug 1518289] [NEW] front headphone jack recognised by alsa but ignored by pulseaudio

2015-11-20 Thread Rob
Public bug reported:

Summary:
PC has
Card: HD-Audio Generic
Chip: Realtek ALC887-VD
Ubuntu 15.10 64-bit
pulseaudio 1:6.0-0ubuntu13
- working rear audio jack connected to speakers - volume controlled from
Settings>Sound>Sound Output tab.
- nonworking front headphone jack - no corresponding output device in
Settings>Sound>Sound Output tab. (not affected by whether or not headphones
are connected at boot time)
However front headphone jack is visible (muted) in alsamixer, and volume can be
unmuted and raised in current session - returns to muted on reboot.

Detail:
This desktop PC was previously running trusty with front headphone jack working
normally - if audio on rear jack there was audio in headphones. I do not
remember now whether the audio volume was separately controlled as a second
output device, either would have worked fine for me.
Fresh install of wily on a new disk resulted in working rear audio jack, but
non-working front headphone jack.
The ubuntu Settings>Sound Output tab shows only one device for sound output:
"Line Out - Built-in Audio".

My expectation is that the volume level of the headphone jack should
initially be set to a non-zero level.

After exploring various options, I discovered that the front headphone
jack is visible in alsamixer but displayed as level 0 and muted. It can
be made to work in the current session by unmuting and setting to a non-
zero level.

Adjusting volume and balance in the ubuntu Settings>Sound Output tab
affects the audio output levels to the headphone jack in the way one
might expect, but when the settings are changed while alsamixer is open
(eg left right balance), the vertical bars for the headphone level do
not move as they do for all other output jacks. But when the surround
sound profile is changed in the Settings>Sound Output tab, both actual
headphone volume and headphone volume bars in alsamixer drop to 0 with
muting.

In any event, on reboot the jack is muted again and needs to be reset in
alsamixer.

Following online advice, I unsuccessfully tried various ways to make the
unmuted settings survive a reboot - eg running alsamixer under sudo,
alsactl store.

Eventually I looked at the contents of the /var/lib/alsa/asound.state
file and realised that the unmuted state was properly set in the file
and was unchanged on reboot.

The muting was being caused by pulseaudio.

I was able to verify this by unmuting in alsamixer and restarting
pulseaudio without rebooting - the output was muted again.

[Bug 1517994] Re: After grub update I have to re-flash bios from windows installation cd FUJITSU LIFEBOOK AH532

2015-11-20 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Abdul Rehman, as per
http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/Download/ShowFiles.asp an update to your
computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (2.09). If you update to
this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it
address the issue?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

Also, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the
information above is provided, then please mark this report Status
Confirmed. Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1518016] Re: [SRU] Nova kilo requires concurrency 1.8.2 or better

2015-11-20 Thread Chris J Arges
Hello Mohammed, or anyone else affected,

Accepted python-oslo.concurrency into vivid-proposed. The package will
build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/python-oslo.concurrency/1.8.2-0ubuntu0.15.04.1 in a few hours, and then
in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in

It doesn't happen with the upstream 7.2 binary
(http://ds9.si.edu/archive/linux64/ds9.linux64.7.2.tar.gz).

It doesn't happen with the upstream 7.3.2 binary either (although that one
has other problems; most notably unix socket support seems to have been left
out of the build, which gives IRAF users fits (not the data format)).

I can't easily backport your 7.3 or 7.4 packages to 14.04 due to the need to
rebuild python-tk and python3-tk when backporting blt 2.5.

I'll have another bug report for you soon against the Debian 7.3.2 package,
with a patch. The symptoms are different but the problem is also in iisIO()
so the root cause may be the same.

[Bug 1510824] Re: PolkitAgentSession incorrectly handles multiline output (as observed with pam_vas)

2015-11-20 Thread Dariusz Gadomski
Added SRU proposal for Xenial.

** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ * An explanation of the effects of the bug on users and
+
+ * justification for backporting the fix to the stable release.
+
+ * In addition, it is helpful, but not required, to include an
+explanation of how the upload fixes this bug.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ * Use a pam module that returns a multi-line PAM_TEXT_INFO message on
+ successful authentication (may require to artificially modify a pam
+ module).
+
+ * Perform a polkit authorization with e.g. pkexec ls
+
+ * Correct authorization should end with a failure with an unrecognized
+ PAM message
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ * Fix makes advantage of the fact that polkit authentication agent
+ already un-escapess (g_strcompress) all input from the helper component.
+
+ * Fix is a backport of an upstream change.
+
+ [Other Info]
+
+ * Original bug description:
+
There is an error observed when Ubuntu is configured to perform
authentication via pam_vas (Vintela Authentication Services by Dell) in
a disconnected mode (using cached authentication).

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Configure pam_vas client authenticating to a remote server.
  2. Perform authentication to cache the credentials.
  3. Disconnect from the network where the server is reachable (to force using
cached information).
  4. Perform an action requiring polkit authentication.

  Expected result:
Authentication succeeds accompanied by the following message "You have logged
in using cached account information. Some network services will be
unavailable".

  Actual result:
Authentication fails accompanied by the following message "You have logged in
using cached account information. Some network services will be unavailable".

  Probable cause:
The PolkitAgentSession part of polkit is designed to interpret only 1-line
output, while interaction with pam_vas in the above scenario triggers helper to
produce the following 2-line output:
PAM_TEXT_INFO You have logged in using cached account information. Some
network services
  will be unavailable.

The 'will be unavailable.' part is interpreted as an unknown message and
  causes failed authorization.

  [Impact]

- * An explanation of the effects of the bug on users and
+  * Some PAM modules produce output of more than 1 line (e.g.
+ PAM_TEXT_INFO may contain newlines in the message content). Polkit
+ authentication agent is prepared to receive only single-line messages so

Christopher, I tested now with the following kernels (between 4.2.6 and

linux-image-4.3.0-040300rc7-generic_4.3.0-040300rc7.201510260712_amd64.deb

And works fine with everyone.

So installing the kernels published in http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D from v4.2-wily to v4.3-wily only works fine with
kernels 4.3*

Tell me if you need I should test with many other versions.

[Bug 1434396] Re: Xserver does not start or freezes with systemd + lightdm

2015-11-20 Thread LGB [Gábor Lénárt]
Meanwhile, I've upgraded to 15.10. Now the system _mostly_ works, but
let's say about every 5th boot the system freezes with black screen if
systemd is used. Upstart always work. Interestingly in most cases
systemd works as well, but not always. I cannot find any reason about
this always changing behaviour if I try to boot multiple times.

[Bug 1518106] Re: Using "$ source export_modules_dir.sh" causes the error "bash: /bin/build_paths.inc: No such file or directory"

2015-11-20 Thread Victor Thompson
Sourcing in the "export_modules_dir.sh" script causes $0 to be "bash" in
gnome-terminal and "/bin/bash" in terminator. When executing the script
$0 is ./export_modules_dir.sh as one would expect.

Since the script is being sourced in I don't think it dirname should be
used.

[Bug 1511471] Re: [address book] Adding a online account should not change the default address book.

2015-11-20 Thread Olga Kemmet
** Description changed:

The current version of Contacts APP uses the last added account as
  default account when creating contacts.

This cause confusion with the user because this happen without the user
notice and the Address book selector is most of the time obscured by the
  virtual keyboard.
+
+
+ UX comment
+
+ When a new account is added and contacts are synced with the AB, the
+ added account should NOT become a default.
+
+ If users want to change the default account, they always have to do it
+ manually for now. This option should be available through AB app
+ settings.

of the SAML / 3rd party auth. process, but not all of it is trapped
unfortunately.
Eventually, after restarting the webapp 3 times to finalize the process,
the tokens get refreshed and the Gmail webapp redirects to the main UI, but
there are at least 2 redirects that end up in the browser.

Here is what I found in the logs :

qml: Opening: https://login.ubuntu.com/two_factor_auth?next=/saml/process
in the
 browser window.
...
and later
...
qml: Opening: https://login.ubuntu.com/saml/process in the browser window.

I also spotted a few:
process 23654: arguments to dbus_connection_close() were incorrect,
assertion "c
onnection->generation == _dbus_current_generation" failed in file
../../dbus/dbu
s-connection.c line 2935.

if that matters.

[Bug 1518212] Re: ds9 loops with "Error: IIS iisIO problems" when asked to display IRAF dev$pix

I have no IRAF to test; could you check whether this still appears on
the 7.4 beta releases? And/or with the version downloaded from upstream:

[Bug 1517873] Re: CR: indicator bar on top of the phone should show hotspot connections

2015-11-20 Thread Dominik
The thing with the blue bar is that it takes up screen space - ios
compensates for this by squishing all the icons closer together.

While I am all for having an indicator of how many clients are connected
(possibly with more details about them in the hotspot options), wouldn't
a number on the icon that appears on the top bar right now when the
hotspot is active suffice?

[Bug 1446863] Re: [precise] lsusb -t hangs with no output

2015-11-20 Thread Pali
Patch which fixing this bug is linked in description and is already part
in upstream lsusb version. So there is no potential regression or impact.
Can you include this patch into 12.04 LTS release?
