[Bug 1530724] [NEW] ufraw doesn't have camera profile data for new cameras

2016-01-03 Thread Ayan George
Public bug reported:

The latest version of ufraw has camera profiles for many new cameras.

Currently ufraw doesn't properly display images for new cameras like
Nikon D7200, Nikon D810, and many other new cameras.

It would be nice if the new camera profiles were merged from the latest
commit to wb_presets.c but it would probably be easiest and best to base
ufraw on the latest source in CVS.

** Affects: ufraw (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided

[Bug 1528526] Re: USB connexion with mobile Wiko impossible

2016-01-03 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
mrla, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

As per https://www.asus.com/Notebooks/Eee_PC_1215B/HelpDesk_Download/ an
update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (0503).
If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible:
1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an
apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement
or not.
3) Please mark this report Status Confirmed. If it's not reproducible, please
mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1528300] Re: Stuck on login screen after updating to 3.19.0-42

2016-01-03 Thread Daniel Eloff
Ok, I updated the BIOS to F9 and confirmed with the commands above:

F9
03/18/2014

Now nothing other than windows worked. I eventually figured out the BIOS
updates reset the BIOS settings, which included enabling the Intel HD Graphics
on the processor - which seems to confuse the hell out of ubuntu. After
disabling that and playing with the display drivers I'm able to boot with the
42 kernel now. For some reason only the nouveau driver works, using the nvidia
driver will give the initial symptoms still: instead of booting to desktop, you
get the login screen, but it's not possible to login with any account, you just
get returned to the login screen - probably a failure of the desktop system to
start.

The nouveau driver used to (with kernel 41) cause me issues where it
would boot to a black screen roughly 3/4 times. Persistently rebooting
would eventually work. I hope that is not still the case, but it's too
early to say.

I've disabled all updates and I'm going to try to limp along until the
next time I upgrade my OS, I'll give a debian a try this time, maybe it
will be more stable.

Thanks for your help.

[Bug 1530708] Re: Trying to play video results in two thumbnails in gallery and failure to connect with playback backend.

2016-01-03 Thread John Dolz
Turns out I wasn't using a clean installation, but one modified via apt-get. I
cannot see a way to delete the report, but it should be deleted.
I'm sorry if I wasted somebody's time.

[Bug 1510970] Re: Intel driver crashes on Ubuntu 15.10

2016-01-03 Thread Dieter
Same problems for weeks. Opening video files (vlan). Using Firefox. Opening or
closing folders via SMB to an external NAS.
And other activities which i do not remember, sorry.
First i would get the login screen again after 10-120 seconds. Then the crash
report would tell me that it was xorg.

It might not be the same bug then please ignore my ranting.

But the last few days (since around xmas) the system would not do that anymore
but simply freeze. Only hard reset helps even after waiting 15 minutes. I
always install updates immediately.
Using Lenovo X220 with 15.10.
Will now try disabling SNA and see how it goes.

Bad bug! Was in the middle of important work that actually pays my
bills.

[Bug 1371783] Re: package ttf-mscorefonts-installer 3.4+nmu1ubuntu2 (utopic) fails to install/upgrade

2016-01-03 Thread j-stuffer
Not yet. I installed Playonlinux and got this error. When installing Steam via
Playonlinux (for Quake Live), it also promted that it needs these files. It
downloaded (or said it downloads) the files and I could start Steam. But 1 day
later the popup came again. I wanted to try 2 more things: 1) Installing wine,
perhaps wine fetches the fonts correctly (I read that somewhere) 2) copying the
files from my installation on my laptop. Do you know, which files exactly I
need and where are they?
Now I am on my laptop, tomorrow I will have access to my desktop again.
It's not too big of a deal anyways, as Playonlinux and Steam via Playonlinux
(and thus Quake Live) run without problems. It's just annoying at the moment.

[Bug 1529232] Re: Scanner not detected over wifi since after 3.13.0-68

2016-01-03 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Lucas Partridge, at your earliest convenience, could you please test the
latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of
the page from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D
(the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test
the daily folder)? Install instructions are available at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . This will allow
additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

If testing on your main install would be inconvenient, one may:
1) Install Ubuntu to a different partition and then test this there.
2) Backup, or clone the primary install.

If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't
boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue
to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue.
Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Where X, and Y are the first two numbers of the kernel version, and Z is
the release candidate number if it exists.

If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of
kernel-bug-exists-upstream.

Once testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, please mark this
report's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1447038] Re: Shutdown/Restart of live session guest does not work in Virtualbox or VMWare

2016-01-03 Thread Alex Dueppen
Changing the Virtualbox settings and the kernel command line to output
to a text file on the host machine (see
https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Serial_redirect) worked to get a log
file, but caused the "Please remove the installation medium, then press
ENTER:" screen as well as a text-mode animation to show up. Pressing
enter did not cause the system to shut itself down though. The text-mode
shutdown animation continued to display along with the "Please remove
the installation medium, then press ENTER:" message. Due to the fact
that the issue changes whenever logging is set up, it will likely be
difficult to debug this issue fully.

[Bug 1530717] [NEW] [usability] no hourglass mouse icon or feedback when launching an application

2016-01-03 Thread Guasong
Public bug reported:

There is a usability issue in Lubuntu. When running an application by
double clicking an icon on the desktop, no feedback is given to the
user.

For example create a Firefox icon and double click on it, or run Firefox
through the panel.

Firefox can take couple of seconds to start. In the meantime, nothing is
displayed to the user to confirm that he clicked on Firefox. The mouse
icon does not change to hourglass, and there is no noticeable change on
the desktop.

Expected behavior is some feedback like a change of the mouse cursor or
anything else.

[Bug 1488719] Re: dmesg shows "[drm:gen8_irq_handler [i915]] *ERROR* The master control interrupt lied (SDE)!"

2016-01-03 Thread Falx
A bit more contex:

I run lubuntu 5.10 with 4.4.0 RC7 now and it still happens. Quickly
reproducable when doing in-home streaming to my lubuntu client. The
stream (h264 decoding) crashes quite rapidly, and the typical dmesg
output is present.

[Bug 1530707] [NEW] Avidemux: Auto | Optical Disc | DVD does nothing

2016-01-03 Thread Mauro
Public bug reported:

Running avidemux-qt.
When trying to click on Auto | Optical Disc | DVD, nothing happens (the .DVD -
Automatic conversion" dialog should appear instead).
In the console I read:
Spidermonkey compiling "/usr/share/ADM_scripts/auto/Disco ottico/DVD.js"...Done.

but in my Italian-localized Linux Mint 17.2 (based on Ubuntu 14.04) that
path does not exist, because the folder
"/usr/share/ADM_scripts/auto/Disco ottico/" is called
"/usr/share/ADM_scripts/auto/Optical Disc/".

Workaround:
sudo ln -s "/usr/share/ADM_scripts/auto/Optical Disc"
"/usr/share/ADM_scripts/auto/Disco ottico"

avidemux-qt package version is: 1:2.5.4-0ubuntu14

[Bug 1530710] [NEW] [usability] Unchecking mute in panel VolumeControl does not unmute in PulseAudio

2016-01-03 Thread Guasong
Public bug reported:

Running Lubuntu 15.10 live CD in Virtualbox

- install pavucontrol
- run pulseaudio
- click on Volume Control on the bottom right of the panel to show the panel
volume control with its mute checkbox

In pavucontrol, tab Output devices:

- pushing the "mute audio" button in pavucontrol will check the Mute checkbox
in panel volume control
- releasing the "mute audio" button in pavucontrol will uncheck the Mute
checkbox in panel volume control
- checking the Mute checkbox in panel volume control will push the mute audio
button in pavucontrol

However,

- unchecking the Mute checkbox in the panel volume control WILL NOT
release the "mute audio" button in pavucontrol

Expected result:

- unchecking the Mute checkbox in the panel volume should release the
"mute audio" button in pavucontrol.

**User expects to reverse the action of checking of the "mute" checkbox
by unchecking the box.**

Moreover, as desired, pavucontrol empasizes that the audio is muted by
rendering the volume scrollbar as "read only". It's grey and not
modifiable. However the Volume control volume scrollbar of the panel
stays editable and is not changed when the Mute checkbox is checked.

[Bug 1528849] Re: PCI passthrough of LSI card fails

2016-01-03 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Jason, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

At your earliest convenience, could you please test the latest upstream
kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (the release
names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily
folder)?

2016-01-03 Thread Nick Meyne
Public bug reported:

That's it really. No special or unsupported packages in use as far as I
know. e.g. no proprietary graphics drivers

Only other problem is that 5.1 surround sound on 14.04 had stopped
working in both analogue and hdmi - stereo only. Not sure why?

[Bug 1530413] Re: confusing example from 'lxc help image'

2016-01-03 Thread Stéphane Graber
Thanks for reporting this.

images.linuxcontainers.org is a fake LXD server implemented through
static files and rewrite rules, it doesn't implement the API that "alias
list" uses. I'll add the missing file to images.linuxcontainers.org
which should take care of the error you've received.

And yes, I agree that the help here could do with some improvement, at
the very least point to other help messages to better understand some of
the concepts.

Briefly:
 - The LXD text client (lxc) can interact with multiple servers, those are
called "remotes" and can be added/changed/removed through "lxc remote ..."
 - LXD is image based, all containers must be created from an image. The unique
identifier used by LXD for images is the sha256 of their compressed tarball
representation. As humans don't usually enjoy typing a full sha256 to tell LXD
what they want, LXD has the concept of image aliases which is a human-friendly
name that you can add to a particular image.

So the two commands you typed did:
 - lxc remote add store2 images.linuxcontainers.org
Added a new remote called "store2" pointing to the public image server (fake
LXD) at images.linuxcontainers.org
 - lxc image alias list store2:
Attempted to list all image aliases set on the "store2" remote.

[Bug 1530171] Re: [Regression] Thinkpad dock: External monitors not recognized after 15.04 upgrade

2016-01-03 Thread aexl
** No longer affects: udev

** Package changed: ubuntu => unity-control-center (Ubuntu)

** Description changed:

On Thinkpad L540 with intel graphics:

- External monitors are not recognized in display settings when plugged in
- (into any port including VGA).
+ External monitors are not recognized in display settings when plugged
+ into any dock port.

They *are* recognized after a reboot (not after logout).
After plugging out and the in again they are not recognized.

- A monitor plugged into the internal VGA is recognized instantly.
+ A monitor plugged in and out of the non-dock VGA is recognized instantly.
+ After plugging in or out of the non-dock VGA, monitors plugged to dock ports
are recognized (which serves as a crazy workaround for me now).

Everything used to work with 14.10, but stopped with 15.04.

A recent test with 1510 live CD did not fix this.

After a few days of this, added the xorg-edgers PPA, upgraded to the

installed the 4.4.0-040400rc4-generic kernel available here:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.4-rc4-wily/ but I'm not
sure if that's required in addition to Edgers.

[Bug 1447038] Re: Shutdown/Restart of live session guest does not work in Virtualbox or VMWare

2016-01-03 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
I was expecting confirmation of my thoughts about that job waiting to
end; we got that from flocculant.

There isn't anything missing for this but careful debugging on the
shutdown processes. Ideally it would have to be reproduced with the
splash disabled, so we can see as much information as possible, possibly
attaching a serial console to the VM so that debug messages from
plymouth and/or systemd can be written there, hopefully something will
pop up.

The gist of it hasn't changed, I still think this is failing because
plymouth doesn't like some aspect of how the video driver works on
VirtualBox and VMWare, so one thing to try would be to test with
different video drivers -- in KVM parlance, for example, switching
between vga and qxl could change the result, but I'm not familiar enough
with VBox and haven't used VMWare in so long that I wouldn't know what
drivers there are or how to change them :)

[Bug 1528880] Re: freeze

2016-01-03 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Harkishan Singh, as per http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers an
update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (1.11).

1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an
apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement
or not.
3) Please mark this report Status Confirmed. If it's not reproducible, please
mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

Reviewing the files from your upgrade attempt you seem to have enabled
the xorg-edgers-ppa. This will prevent the upgrade as that PPA contains
different versions of packages essential to Ubuntu. The page,

how to revert to the official Xorg packages. Thanks.

[Bug 1530414] Re: lxc image copy should be (at least optionally) more verbose

2016-01-03 Thread Stéphane Graber
Hi,

Yes, there are a number of operations for which we used to lack progress
information entirely which made this impossible.

Recently, I've implemented the events API and updated most download
paths within LXD to expose progress information back to the client (by
increment of 10% to avoid flooding them with events), our default client
however doesn't yet use this information.

Our focus is currently on a few big and complex features that we want to
land before feature freeze (remainder of resource limits and native
simplestream support) but I'm hopeful we'll get some time to fix some of
those rough edges in the command line client in time for 16.04.

[Bug 1530706] [NEW] Gallery fails to thumbnail .mkv file and media player won't play it

2016-01-03 Thread John Dolz
Public bug reported:

I'm having trouble playing a rather large file (954.6 MB). Upon
selecting the gallery for playing, it freezes and creates a qt_temp file
and that eventually grows to the same size as the original file. After
that the video appears in the gallery, but no thumbnail is generated,
and when trying to play it, the media player app opens, showing a black
screen and the play controls at 00:00 TC. No video plays.
