[Bug 1542028] Re: xapp window should reflect app name rather than "root xmir"
Do you mean "Xmir root window"? If so then that's not a bug. That Mir surface represents the whole X11 desktop. So it's not an app window but is the X11 root window. If you run Xmir -rootless you will get per-app window names as the apps are actually running in different windows. But the way we use Xmir right now in Unity8 I believe is not -rootless. So it may have any number of apps visible simultaneously and there is no correct "app name" to display for the whole desktop, assuming you have a typical window manager. That all said, what we might be able to do is somehow deduce at the X server level what the focussed window title is and switch the X server's window title to match it. Although for any use case other than a fullscreen window manager that would be incorrect. But it's theoretically possible to do such an enhancement as an option for Unity8. What would be better still though would be to enhance Unity8 to support 'Xmir -rootless' if not already, and then the window titles will all look right (as well as dialogs etc). ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1542028 Title: xapp window should reflect app name rather than "root xmir" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1542028/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1541810] Re: Systemd Libvirt-bin script broken
In the interest of backwards compatibility this needs to look something like Environment=KRB5_KTNAME=/etc/libvirt/libvirt.keytab EnvironmentFile=/etc/default/libvirt-bin ExecStart=/usr/sbin/libvirtd $LIBVIRTD_ARGS (Assuming that LIBVIRTD_ARGS is specified in the default/ file). Indeed this style is obsolete as a lot of packages implement that in a totally different way. The better approach is to use a configuration file that is actually read by libvirt itself, instead of passing configuration on the command line. This of course needs to be supported upstream, but at least then it will work the same way everywhere and doesn't need to be documented (differently) by distros working around the lack of a proper config file. As a fallback, one can create a drop-in which overrides/adds particular keys to the .service file, with "systemctl edit libvirt-bin", which is a convenience shortcut for creating a /etc/systemd/system/libvirt- bin.service.d/mysettings.conf . It's also conceivable to do that in the postinst during package upgrade. ** Summary changed: - Systemd Libvirt-bin script broken + libvirt-bin.service does not read /etc/default/libvirt-bin -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1541810 Title: libvirt-bin.service does not read /etc/default/libvirt-bin To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/libvirt/+bug/1541810/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1542388] Re: click hook generated .application file has wrong desktop-entry value
Unfortunately I don't think there's much we can do about it. The problem is that the hooks which create the desktop files for click applications and scopes behave differently: the one for applications appends the version number, the one for scopes doesn't. The ideal solution would be to modify the scopes hook so that it generates the desktop files with the version number. Until that is done, I'm afraid the only solution is to explicitly specify the element in the .application file -- I've also filed bug 1541717 because this possibility is actually missing in the new hook configuration for online accounts, and obviously it needs to be added. ** Changed in: ubuntu-system-settings-online-accounts (Ubuntu) Status: New => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1542388 Title: click hook generated .application file has wrong desktop-entry value To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/savilerow/+bug/1542388/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1542175] Re: Problems and crashes with local music collection
Attached is a smaller set of test songs. None of these have an empty artist or album tag, and all of them contain cover art. The problem still shows up with your test qml, Victor. None of these songs produce errors, so we can rule out the error handling as the culprit. What I'm seeing is that the list resets to the beginning whenever there is a miss on the cache. It's easy to see this by following the thumbnailer log and scrolling down very slowly. Things work exactly up to the point where the first miss is encountered. But, whether we have a miss or a hit at the service end makes no difference to the client, other than the amount of time it takes for the request to complete. (Hits and misses are indistinguishable to the client). I've verified that we are returning the correct image data on the client side after both hits and and misses. I wonder whether there is a collation problem of some kind, or whether it is possible for the association of which request goes with what list item to get messed up somehow? ** Attachment added: "testsongs.tar.gz" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thumbnailer/+bug/1542175/+attachment/4566614/+files/testsongs.tar.gz -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1542175 Title: Problems and crashes with local music collection To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/music-app/+bug/1542175/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1542967] Re: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in malloc_consolidate()
FYI, the upgrade log for the nvidia driver says that the only change was that it "added EGL alternatives" (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /nvidia-graphics-drivers-352-updates/352.63-0ubuntu3.) So just to restate the problem: compiz running the intel driver crashes if nvidia-352-updates 352.63-0ubuntu3 is installed, but doesn't crash the previous version, 352.63-0ubuntu2, is installed, and the only difference is "added EGL alternatives". -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1542967 Title: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in malloc_consolidate() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/1542967/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1542991] [NEW] Error after adding mobile broadband connection to network manager
Public bug reported: I am running Ubuntu MATE 16.04 x64 Alpha 2. In network manager, I added a new mobile broadband connection ("Bob" in "Austria") after successfully unlocking the SIM card of the modem using modem-manager. After the last step in the wizard an error message is being displayed: Adding/activation of connection failed (1) Creating object for path '/org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/ActiveConnection/2' failed in libnm- glib. The entry "Bob Vorgabe" (should be "Bob default" in English, I guess) shows up in the network list in network manager, but when I click the entry, network manager just shows the "connecting" icon for a fraction of a second and then does nothing. syslog is enhanced with these lines: Feb 8 07:40:16 TravelMateB115M NetworkManager[658]: (ttyUSB1): Activation: starting connection 'Bob Vorgabe' (1a46eedf-d89d-47a2-b9bc-28518aca893e) Feb 8 07:40:16 TravelMateB115M NetworkManager[658]: (ttyUSB1): device state change: disconnected -> prepare (reason 'none') [30 40 0] Feb 8 07:40:16 TravelMateB115M NetworkManager[658]: (ttyUSB1): device state change: prepare -> need-auth (reason 'none') [40 60 0] Feb 8 07:40:16 TravelMateB115M NetworkManager[658]: (ttyUSB1): device state change: need-auth -> prepare (reason 'none') [60 40 0] Feb 8 07:40:16 TravelMateB115M NetworkManager[658]: (ttyUSB1): Failed to connect 'Bob Vorgabe': Connection requested both IPv4 and IPv6 but dual-stack addressing is unsupported by the modem. [Bug 1532607] Re: Phone not usable while a call comes in - followed by "restart"
I'm using nexus 4. After installing OTA 9 my phone rebooted for installation but after successful installation. It just keeps on a a reboot loop shows ubuntu dotted booting logo then reboots again. So, I've to use volume up + power button to turn on and from the recovery menu i did 'wipe cache'. Only then my phone successfully booted. There are so many nice goodies in OTA 9 but some times while using phone it shows ubuntu booting logo out of no where. since the update it had happened 6 times. but for me it hasn't yet happened during the call. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1532607 Title: Phone not usable while a call comes in - followed by "restart" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1532607/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1542974] [NEW] Firefox gets slower & slower in Ubuntu 12.04
Public bug reported: For some reason Process Manager in system Monitor shows that PulseAudio is showing an abnormally high level of usage, but I'm not using any audio for most of the time when browsing. OK, still using Ubuntu 12.04, when newer versions are available (though might be too much for an old Pentium 4), but there has to be some reason why, using the same T-Mobile mobile dongle as before and going to more or less the same pages, my connection has just recently got very slow indeed. Do I need an anti-spyware and anti-virus clean-out I wonder, but I have been told by Ubuntu enthusiasts that Unix, Debian or Linux based systems are not so vulnerable. Since installing this 12.04 version of Ubuntu after using 10.04, I've been wondering if it was a "dumbed-down" version from the start, as the system does not seem to have the same capabilities as previously, does not recognize my mobile Broadband connection (via Sakis3g) even when it is active and working for web pages and downloads. Software center cannot be properly used because the web connection is not recognized. The "right-click" on my mouse seems to offer less options than previously. Web pages are getting slower and slower to load. [Bug 1089195] Re: linux-headers will eat your inodes on LTS.
@pabouk Hi. Thanks so much for the help! In fact I wasn't able to use apt-get remove, because it tried to do apt- get update first, which failed because of the inode exhaustion. I wasn't comfortable removing anything manually because I didn't know which files were safe to remove. All but one of the surplus packages in /usr/src were for a linux headers higher than my current linux version, so for all I know the system might depend on them in some way when it tries to upgrade itself from the current version. I erased the one, older package, but this did not free enough inodes to allow any operations to complete. All of the linux headers were piling up in /usr/src. In the end I resolved the process by doing the following: 1. attaching a much larger new volume, formating it, and mounting it on /mnt 2. cp -a /usr/src/* /mnt # to copy all the linux headers onto the other volume 3. rm -rf /usr/src/*# to remove them from the root volume 3. unmount the new volume mounted at /mnt 4. remount the volume at /usr/src By this sequence of operations, I exactly preserved the structure of files and folders on the filesystem, while changing how the inode usage was distributed over partitions. So that relieved the inode exhaustion. Then I was able to use apt-get update, and apt-get autoremove, etc.. to completed the pending upgrades and remove the unused packages. My big takeaway from this is that I was naive to think unattended- upgrades could run for years unattended, like a router. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1089195 Title: linux-headers will eat your inodes on LTS. Re: [Bug 1542438] [NEW] Python LXC api needs to be much better at error reporting
Hi, the intent is that you can set the logfile and loglevel and find out more about how it failed for those. While there is talk about work to improve on the startup failure debugging, it is still based on the logfile output. As an example: ^C2 ✗ serge@sl ~ $ python3 Python 3.4.3+ (default, Oct 14 2015, 16:03:50) [GCC 5.2.1 20151010] on linux Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information. >>> import lxc >>> c=lxc.Container("x1") >>> c.set_config_item("lxc.loglevel", "1") True >>> c.set_config_item("lxc.logfile", "/tmp/outout") True >>> c.start() False but now /tmp/outout has the debug information. It sounds like we could stand to have this better explained somewhere, but I'm not sure where. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1542438 Title: Python LXC api needs to be much better at error reporting To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/1542438/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1539016] Re: Remove /bin/running-in-container
This bug was fixed in the package init-system-helpers - 1.28ubuntu1 --- init-system-helpers (1.28ubuntu1) xenial; urgency=medium * Merge from Debian unstable. Remaining changes: - init: Drop sysvinit-core as alternative pre-depends, and add upstart-sysv instead. - scripts/invoke-rc.d: clean eatmydata from environment unless INVOKE_RCD_ALLOW_EATMYDATA is set to value other than '0'. This does not affect systemd, thus this can be dropped after 16.04 LTS. (LP: #1257036) - invoke-rc.d: Fix actions to run under systemd if there is no init.d script but only an upstart job. Packages got fixed in 16.04 but this still affects upgrades. This can be dropped after 16.04 LTS. * Drop running-in-container. Remaining users have been moved to systemd-detect-virt. (LP: #1539016) * Drop invoke-rc.d's calling of 'initctl reload-configuration' to work reliably on systems with broken inotify. We don't have live systems under upstart any more, and on Ubuntu touch this does not apply. init-system-helpers (1.28) unstable; urgency=medium [ Martin Pitt ] * invoke-rc.d: Fix actions to run under systemd if there is no init.d script. (Closes: #717109) init-system-helpers (1.27) unstable; urgency=high Urgency high to not further delay the sysvinit migration to testing, and to avoid this going into testing with breaking file-rc. [ Martin Pitt ] * Add debian/clean to remove script/*1.p. Also, for completeness: running the PRD daemon is only required on machines that have the "diagnostics" OPAL firmware feature. At present (and this is unlikely to change), the set of these machines is equivalent to the set of OpenPOWER machines. To be exact, this is indicated on a running system by the presence of a "diagnostics" device-tree node under the firmware one, which has a compatible value of "ibm,opal-prd". -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1512188 Title: Update request: skiboot 5.1.9 for OpenPower machines To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/skiboot/+bug/1512188/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1542967] [NEW] compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in malloc_consolidate()
Public bug reported: This crash just happened after the latest updates installed from the main Ubuntu repos as of 2016-02-08 01:30 GMT when trying to login to a desktop. Because compiz crashes before establishing a usable desktop, I have had to revert back to a snapshot from 2016-02-05 to report the bug. So I don't know if apport is reporting the correct versions of installed packages. I saw a similar thing happen a couple of weeks ago, and it turned out to be due to an nvidia 352 driver update from xorg-edgers; I purged the package and went back to using the nvidia 352 driver from the main repositories. This fixed the problem at the time - I was able to install all updates and compiz kept working. Note that I'm only using the nvidia driver so bumblebee can turn off the nvidia card. [Bug 1316873] Re: Left mouse button stops working
started happening to me recently in ubuntu 15.10 as well. I use a fujitsu laptop lh531 and a logitech mouse. all works fine when i start the computer and use it for upto one hour or near abouts. but then, suddenly the left mouse click button starts to malfunction. it sometimes grabs the button that i have clicked and does not let go. sometimes, it refuses to click at all. i tried using the touchpad button (btw, my touchpad is detected as a mouse) but even the touchpad left click button does not work. as soon as i unplug the mouse, everything is fine and the touchpad works properly. plug the mouse again and the same problem. when i restart the laptop, the mouse is fine and everything is back to normal for another one hour or so. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1316873 Title: Left mouse button stops working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1316873/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
