[Bug 1547043] Re: 4k Support not working

2016-02-20 Thread MIME
Hi Christopher,

I have checked this. But by now only with the 27" Dell. (The resolutions
are anyway the same.)

Ubuntu offers resolutions up to 3840 x 2160 px.

The largest working resolution is 1920 x 1200 px.
Both higher resolutions (3840 x 2160 px and 2560 x 1440 px) result in a black
external display.

As I am using a freshly installed live stick with Ubuntu 15.10 i don’t expect
any *.old log files to appear.
I have only attached the Xorg.0.log file after testing your scenario.

[Bug 1548020] [NEW] Download handling with OneTimeTokens

2016-02-20 Thread eDeviser
Public bug reported:

I'm hosting a webserver with seafile.
When I click on the Download link direktly, then choosing the app for opening,
the Download
aborts because of Http400 Error. This could be because the Download token
from the server are working just for one time. Nevertheless, if do
rightclick on the download link and select "save as", the download works
pretty fine.

I think, when clicking on such a link, a request to the server is issued, which
invalidates the
link for subsequent requests. The headers from the response to that request are
then passed to the download manager which will initiate the download by issuing
the request again, and the first request
initiated by the browser is cancelled. That’s indeed a bug in how
downloads are handled in the browser.

If nessesary I can provide a temporary download link for testing the
issues.

This happend on my Nexus 4 with OTA9.

** Affects: webbrowser-app (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided

[Bug 1544279] Re: symfony: update and bootstrap for PHP7.0 support

2016-02-20 Thread Steve Langasek
I am uncomfortable with the patch added here which disables failing
tests. Launchpad doesn't show any failures in these tests, and you
haven't given a rationale why it's correct to disable those tests.
Also, keeping those tests enabled doesn't result in any build failure
here. So I will upload with the other two patches applied, and omit
this one.

[Bug 1548019] [NEW] Bypassing certificate checks

2016-02-20 Thread eDeviser
Public bug reported:

I'm hosting a webserver. Right now I have not registred my SSL-Certificate, so
I have to confirm with
"proceed anyway"; Then I can access the homepage without problems. But if I
try do download something from this homepage, the download shows in download
manager, but it does not start. Copying the downloadlink via rightClick and
selecting copy Link, then opening the Terminal and typing "wget
www.link.de/file --no-check-certificate" works pretty fine.

I think, the browser delegates downloads to UDM, the Ubuntu Download Manager. I
guess UDM doesn’t allow bypassing certificate checks.

If nessesary I can provide a temporary download link for testing the
issues.

Tested on UbuntuPhone OTA9 (Nexus 4)

I still see this bug in Trusty Tahr 14.04 GNOME, updated to 14.04.4 for
the last jear 2015 only, but not for 2016, 2014, 2013. In 2015 only week
number 13 is doubled, week number 43 is missing, and weeks in between
these are numbered wrong. Strange!

[Bug 1548016] [NEW] pcmanfm right click empty space shows broken inversert selection in context menu

2016-02-20 Thread Brendan Perrine
Public bug reported:

To reproduce make sure that you are not using the openbox menu when
using the second mouse click to bring up a menu on the desktop. To do
this run pcmanfm --desktop-pref make the box for show menus provided by
window managers when desktop is clicked is not selected. The right click
on an empty part of the desktop with no icon when pcmanfm is used to
draw the desktop.

I have found this on lubuntu xenial. I did not really expect this to be
an option or for it to exist anyway. I mean the only real way for
inverse selection. However this would basically become a redunandt
version of the select all button if it did work. So does this need
removing?

Today I did a fresh installation of Ubuntu 15.10 on my HP laptop, and
after installation opened firefox and found that it was taking extremely
long time for even the google page to come up. It has nothing to do with
my internet connection as I have a good fast internet connection. I was
not even able to search for a solution. I have experienced this before
and many friends for whom I installed Ubuntu and derivatives like
elementary used to share the similar bad experience.

Is it possible to get this fix implemented with ubuntu default
installation?

** Description changed:

Holy smokes! Thank you so much jerry b. (Comment #3). I installed the
nvidia driver to try to see if it fixes something, then things got f'ed
to hell. The only thing that fixes was simply moving these two
libraries. Which makes sense. Thanks again. I recommend that this step
gets added to the "Reconfigure graphics" in rescue more in ubuntu...
because that doesn't do anything right now.

[Bug 1548009] [NEW] ZFS pools should be automatically scrubbed

2016-02-20 Thread Richard Laager
Public bug reported:

mdadm automatically checks MD arrays. ZFS should automatically scrub
pools.

I've attached a debdiff which accomplishes this.

The meat of it is the scrub script I've been using (and recommending in
my HOWTO) for years, which scrubs all *healthy* pools. If a pool is not
healthy, scrubbing it is bad for two reasons: 1) It adds a lot of disk
load which could lead to another failure. We should save that disk load
for resilvering. 2) Performance is already less on a degraded pool and
scrubbing will make that worse.

The cron.d in this patch scrubs on the second Sunday of the month. mdadm
scrubs on the first Sunday of the month. This way, if a system has both
MD and ZFS pools, the load doesn't all happen at the same time. If the
system doesn't have both types, it shouldn't really matter which week.

** Affects: zfs-linux (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Patch added: "zfs-linux.scrub.debdiff.2"

[Bug 1546645] Re: de ve de

2016-02-20 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
chris, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

As per
http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=3782255=8=4060
an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available
(F.22). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible:
1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an
apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement
or not.
3) Please mark this report Status New. If it's not reproducible, please mark
this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

doesn't disrupt DTS passthrough for other music, so for now I just left

[Bug 1538532] Re: Broken in Xenial, vim requires python3 now

2016-02-20 Thread Val Markovic
@Matthias Please note we (the YCM developers) have nothing to do with
the vim-youcomplete package. We don't even like that it exists (the
canonical and _only_ supported way to install YCM is from source with
our `install.py` script). My commitment to have YCM ready for Xenial
refers to our desire to have the from-source installation working, not
the vim-youcompleteme package.

If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see

sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement

[Bug 1547999] [NEW] Network manager adds "reverse-DNS" for DNS IP when there are more than one IP address provided by openvpn

2016-02-20 Thread kay
Public bug reported:

Server side configuration:

server 10.25.8.0 255.255.255.0
server-ipv6 2001:db8:0:123:8000::/65

push redirect-gateway
push "dhcp-option DNS 10.25.8.1"
push "route-ipv6 2000::/3"
push redirect-gateway ipv6

NetworkManager creates this entry for dnsmasq:

dnsmasq[5628]: setting upstream servers from DBus
dnsmasq[5628]: using nameserver 10.25.8.1#53 for domain 10.in-addr.arpa

But it should create this one:

dnsmasq[5628]: using nameserver 10.25.8.1#53

When you comment-out ipv6 related strings on server side, NetworkManager
works as expected.

[Bug 1547640] Re: proxy tries ipv6 and gets 503 when no ipv6 routes

2016-02-20 Thread Scott Moser
There is a work around for this issue currently in place.
The change was to remove one of the 10 ipv6 addresses that were returned in a
query for security.ubuntu.com or archive.ubuntu.com. Now there are only 9 ipv6
addresses in place.

This works around the issue and users should not see this error when
using squid as a apt mirror.

We will work on diagnosing the fix and getting the proper change SRU'd
into the archive.

[Bug 1524196] Re: Error on fetching several lists

2016-02-20 Thread Sworddragon
At the debian bugtracker is also a bugreport about this:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=807948
It turned out that the user had manually set up /tmp which caused it to have
the wrong permissions. I have not manually set up /tmp but on looking at it it
has the permissions 0755 for root:root. Setting the permissions to 0777 does
solve this issue. Since this installation is a bit old maybe it was just a
migration issue. Maybe on installing apt a script should check if the
permissions of /tmp are correct?

[Bug 1547599] Re: legacy nvidia drivers fail to work with latest kernel

2016-02-20 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Darko Veberic, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better.

To advise, as per nvidia.com the latest driver version for your chipset
is https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-340 .
Hence, could you please uninstall the legacy package, install the 340
version and advise if this works?

[Bug 1547151] Re: r8169 kernel module problem

2016-02-20 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Luca Mastromatteo, the issue you are reporting is an upstream one. Could
you please report this problem following the instructions verbatim at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/kernel to the appropriate mailing
list (TO nic_swsd CC netdev)?

Please provide a direct URL to your post to the mailing list when it
becomes available so that it may be tracked.

Thank you for your understanding.

** Tags added: latest-bios-1.31

** Description changed:

- I'm in trouble with my notebook Acer Aspire E5-571G and its realtek ethernet
controller using the kernel module r8169, particularly at school when I'm
connecting with my Ethernet cable to its network. It just basically doesn't see
my cable, like it is disconnected, this problem came after I've changed it. And
I've find on the net how to fix it using ethtool `ethtool -s enp1s0f1 autoneg
off speed 100 duplex full`
- Maybe this cable is maximum 100Mbps capable and the driver can't manage how
to get it working with a gigabit network, since with other (Gigabit) better
cables I don't have this problem. Also I don't have problems in Windows or
with other computers using the same cable. (Windows connection speed with this
cable is 100mbit) I've tried also with a different computer using the same
kernel driver with the same LAN chip and the same problem happened. Since the
realtek r8168 works flawlessly but it disconnects randomly I prefer using the
one provided by the linux kernel.

- Ubuntu 15.10 Wily
-
- The network should be working with any cable
-
- Seems like linux does not detect the 100Mbit cable on a 1000Mbit network,
don't know if on a 100mbit network it has the same problem.

[Bug 1547990] [NEW] 5.1 output not appearing in system settings->sound ubuntu 14.04

2016-02-20 Thread Pablo
Public bug reported:

Here is my alsa information http://www.alsa-
project.org/db/?f=28d4f08505741656bfb1905b7bc21e20365ae5de

I am currently outputting audio through SPDIF to a 5.1 system, but I
only get stereo pcm audio option in system settings->sound. I can see no
5.1 ac3 output. I could however see it for a brief time whenever I
logged in as guest or created a new account. Now, the 5.1 output appears
not even there, it just vanished. I followed these instructions to no
avail:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DigitalAC-3Pulseaudio

Thanks in advance.

2016-02-20 Thread Jeff
Same here using xubuntu 14.04.3

I found this entry in ~/.cache/xfce4-indicator-plugin.log repeated every
time I restarted Dropbox

DEBUG Indicator-Application Building new application entry:
org.kde.StatusNotifierItem-2553-1 with icon: at position 1
DEBUG libindicator-plugin Entry added for io=libapplication.so
WARNINGLIBDBUSMENU-GLIB Getting layout failed:
GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownObject: No such object path
'/MenuBar'
CRITICAL LIBDBUSMENU-GLIB dbusmenu_menuitem_send_about_to_show:
assertion 'DBUSMENU_IS_MENUITEM(mi)' failed

The last line was repeated every time I clicked on the panel icon.

I only just now confirmed that my installation was updated on 2/16/16
without me knowing about it!

[Bug 1547984] [NEW] Downloading a package with root fails

2016-02-20 Thread Sworddragon
Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 dev with apt 1.2.3 and on downloading a package
with root I'm getting an error message like this example shows:

root@ubuntu:~/tmp# apt-get download nvidia-settings
Get:1 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 nvidia-settings amd64
361.28-0ubuntu1 [856 kB]
Fetched 856 kB in 0s (1026 kB/s)
W: Can't drop privileges for downloading as file
'/root/tmp/nvidia-settings_361.28-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb' couldn't be accessed by
user '_apt'. - pkgAcquire::Run (13: Permission denied)

The file gets created for root:root with the permissions 0644 and if I'm trying
to download the file with my normal user it works successfully while also
getting the same permissions.

[Bug 1546739] Re: Lenovo ThinkPad L460 Touchpad not working

2016-02-20 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Onke Wagner, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from kernel
4.2 to 4.5-rc4 in order to identify the last bad commit, followed
immediately by the first good one. Once this good commit has been
identified, it may be reviewed for backporting. Could you please do this
following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F
?

Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit
bisecting.

After the fix commit (not kernel version) has been identified, then
please mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1546694] Re: Bluetooth cannot detect other devices (Lite-on 3014 + Atheros AR9565)

2016-02-20 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
legendaire, as per http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers an
update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (1.09).

1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an
apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement
or not.
3) Please mark this report Status Confirmed. If it's not reproducible, please
mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.
