[Bug 1562618] Re: whole OS freezes seemingly randomly
HI Christopher, I am currently running this: vincent@vincent-Lenovo-Yoga-2-11:~/Downloads$ uname -a Linux vincent-Lenovo-Yoga-2-11 4.4.0-16-generic #32-Ubuntu SMP Thu Mar 24 22:38:01 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux I have done many downloads, watch video and I did not get any freezes after the update of the BIOS (and the reinstall of 16.04) I was about to update the bug to Invalid, but I have installed 4.6-rc2 now and I will report my findings. I will try to give it some time if that is ok with you, because the freezes happened rather random and sometimes after many hours of uptime. It looks promising though, with the regular actions (file download or apt-get update/dist-upgrade) not having caused a freeze. [Bug 1566157] Re: Metacity's compositing is too slow
Ah, I forgot to include the results without a window manager as a comparison: $ killall metacity & sleep 5 && glxgears -fullscreen & sleep 20 && killall glxgears 44884 frames in 5.0 seconds = 8976.656 FPS 44905 frames in 5.0 seconds = 8980.993 FPS Normalized: 118 FPS, the fastest of all. $ killall metacity & sleep 5 && glxgears -fullscreen & sleep 20 && killall glxgears 1743 frames in 5.0 seconds = 348.422 FPS 1713 frames in 5.0 seconds = 342.471 FPS Normalized: 94 FPS, slower than compiz. [Bug 1564518] Re: Illegal instruction when cross compiling for armv5
Um, those binaries contain all but identical code (exactly one instruction differs, I think because the GOROOTs are different). Both appear to be built to use soft float (i.e. armv5 compatible). Are you sure the one from comment #4 crashes and the one from bomment #6 does not? [Bug 1566129] [NEW] server installer partitioning suggestions need refinement
Public bug reported: At least the server installer will make silly partitioning recommendations when the disk size is similar to the RAM size. In my case, 120 gigabyte hard drives with 128 gigabytes of RAM the installer recommended: - 1.0 MB freespace - 536.9 MB ESP - 899.7 / - 120.2 GB swap - 1.0 MB freespace This would not be a useful computer. Some possible heuristics to apply: - 16 or 32 gigabytes of swap is probably plenty -- beyond this, swapoff time may dominate reboots - 10 gigabytes of / is probably a minimum, below this perhaps swap should be completely ignored Thanks ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bot-comment -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1566129 Title: server installer partitioning suggestions need refinement To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1566129/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
