[Bug 1579619] [NEW] [mk-sbuild] treats armhf as foreign to arm64
Public bug reported: [ SRU Justification ] qemu-debootstrap is rather fragile and doesn't always work as expected, and mk-sbuild treats armhf as foreign to arm64 when it shouldn't, thus forcing the use of qemu-debootstrap. This causes issues in production for Canonical Jenkins slaves trying to run mk-sbuild --arch=armhf on arm64 hosts. [ Test Case ] Run mk-build --arch=armhf on an arm64 machine and confirm that is doesn't use the --foreign flag to debootstrap and that it succeeds. [Bug 1572211] Re: vmhgfs module not built
The project maintainers are welcome to declare vmhgfs unsupported, but until they do I think the current situation is a regression in functionality. vmhgfs-fuse just isn't a functional replacement yet. (Background: I am using VMWare Fusion 8.0 on a Mac. I had a working system which has broke on upgrading to Ubuntu 16.04 due to vmhgfs going away, and unfortunately after trying a number of methods I still haven't found a solution to replace it. NFS and CIFS to the host have not worked out, and Samba client is currently broken. I am rather desparately now trying a patched vmhgfs-fuse, but having vmhgfs kernel module available would be more welcome.) ** Changed in: open-vm-tools (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1572211 Title: vmhgfs module not built To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/open-vm-tools/+bug/1572211/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1572211] Re: vmhgfs module not built
The vmhgfs-fuse client is too buggy to use for some things, such as running Git, as reported (by me) at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/open-vm-tools/+bug/1579544 Even if that's fixed, the vmhgfs-fuse client has different behaviour with file permissions and creating files on the host, compared with the vmhgfs kernel module. So until vmhgfs-fuse supports most of the functionality and fairly reliably, it would still be useful to be able to use the vmhgfs kernel module. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1572211 Title: vmhgfs module not built To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/open-vm-tools/+bug/1572211/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1550823] Re: checkarray doesn't work with sh = dash
I can confirm that checkarray is broken out-of-the-box on Ubuntu 16.04 due to this issue. So, periodic checks of the RAID array don't happen unless I do my own scheduling and avoid checkarray, or else repair checkarray itself using one of the workarounds here... I changed my checkarray script to explicitly use bash, but next time I upgrade this package, the changes will be lost unless this gets fixed... My change to use bash instead made checkarray start doing something useful... The suggest at https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=787950 to use cat instead of read is a good one, and only a one-line change. Stephen, good to hear. Sounds like we are on the right track. I would agree. Currently testing 4.1.23 which is the last in the 4.1.x line and it seems stable. I will now attempt to see if i can test any of the releases in between. I will try 4.1.5 first if i can. The odd thing about all the ones in between 4.1.23 and 4.2.0 stable are all marked as unstable. Not sure what that means, but perhaps that hints that this bug came from an unstable kernel line that was never completely fixed. These are the only kernels in this ppa that are marked as such. [Bug 1578118] Re: DPDK compile error with ubuntu 16.04 glibc 2.23-0ubuntu3
Thanks, Christian Set CONFIG_RTE_BUILD_COMBINE_LIBS as y surely can avoid this error message. But as you said, the combined build is not an option. Also 15.10 can build in the counter way that set CONFIG_RTE_BUILD_COMBINE_LIBS=y. However, I can understand this is not a critical bug and should not spend to much time. [Bug 1568899] Re: ld: a.out: hidden symbol `__cpu_model' in /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/5/libgcc.a(cpuinfo.o) is referenced by DSO
I too have encountered this problem when updating build images to use Ubuntu 16.04. The build images are used to build an application built on SFML. I have been able to work around the problem with a privately patched clone of SFML that incorporates Jakub Jelinek's and Dan Kegel's suggestions (see http://web.archive.org/web/20160509014317/https://gitlab.peach- bun.com/pinion/SFML/commit/3383b4a472f0bd16a8161fb8760cd3e6333f1782.patch for a patch against SFML 2.3.2), but maintaining a private clone is overhead that I'd prefer to eliminate. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1568899 Title: ld: a.out: hidden symbol `__cpu_model' in /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux- gnu/5/libgcc.a(cpuinfo.o) is referenced by DSO To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gcc/+bug/1568899/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1579576] Re: Default /boot partition way to little when encryption is choosen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1579576/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.
