[Bug 708829] Re: Text truncated when I save a txt file during a sftp session over nautilus

2016-06-02 Thread surendra beniwal
I confirm this bug is still present till today [May, 2016].

I edited a *.txt file in leafpad over sftp in nautilus. After I saved
the file in leafpad and exited, the file size became 0 bytes. It erased
entire file contents upon saving! I am very disappointed, since I do not
have the backup of the file.

I also think 'importance' of this bug should be set to "HIGH".

[Bug 1577795] Re: Ubuntu touch Frieza ota-10.1 dropping connection to logitech k810

2016-06-02 Thread Paul Spain
I have just updated my M10 to Ubuntu 15.04 OTA-11 and the bug remains:
* I can connect my logitech k810 keyboard and it works ok
* As soon as I connect the Ultrathin mouse, I lose the keyboard, but the mouse
works fine.
* As soon as I disconnect the mouse, the keyboard works again.

I am happy to provide more diagnostics if somebody would please advise
on what and how I should collect.

[Bug 1588601] [NEW] Transparency...weirdness

2016-06-02 Thread W Mauldin
Public bug reported:

I'm not entirely sure how to word this. Every since upgrading to OTA 11,
there has been some weird problem where there's transparency where there
shouldn't be. Or maybe there's a problem rendering transparent images.
Or, maybe some class of background or some element isn't being rendered.
I honestly don't know what to make of this.

I think this may be a system-wide problem, and the game Monster Wars
also exhibits this issue.

Images explain this better, and are attached.

[Bug 1588600] [NEW] Not enough preloading

2016-06-02 Thread Christian Lanig
Public bug reported:

The pages that I leave by scrolling on a new page quickly disappear. When I
scroll up again it takes too much time to see them appear again. Although the
program should be intelligent enough to know that it's just a matter of time
that I like to switch to the linked pages.
It also takes too much time for the next page to load scrolling down. It is
extremely annoying, causing irritation and breaking the workflow.
If it's a feature to save RAM: the document has a size of 616kb and I guess it
would be pathetic to save them when I have 32 gigs of RAM and 8 gigs of VRAM...
I think that everything below 10MB can clearly be preloaded when the document
get's opened and stay in RAM until one closes the document. Even when the
computer is far behind the times.

[Bug 1588597] [NEW] Some ads permanetly block webpages, even unrelated pages.

2016-06-02 Thread W Mauldin
Public bug reported:

This is a strange intermittent problem. It seems that full page, or
perhaps page covering ads on web pages will not only block the web page
underneath in opaque black, but block everything in the browser. This
includes other web pages and hitting the back button to escape the
screen. When this happens, there will also be slim white rectangles on
the right-side edge of the screen when scrolling. Screenshots are
attached.

http://imgur.com/a/yLWGj

I'm using a Meizu Pro 5 (turbo) OTA 11 from the stable "meizu.en"
channel. I can attest that this same behavior appeared in OTA 10.2 as
well.

EXPECTATIONS:
1 - When an ad or other element blocks the web page, I expect to be able to
close or hide it.
2 - If I go back a page, I expect the element to be stop blocking the webpages.

REALITY:
A - They are unclosable.
B - Even hitting back or navigating to a different web page doesn't make the
black overlay disappear.

[Bug 1574347] Re: [SRU] Re-read the link type if the name changed

2016-06-02 Thread Cip Man
Actually, this bug, WAS a different issue until you (plus Aron Xu and
others) changed the title, description, [wrongly] marked this and other
bugs as duplicate, changed the testcase, you name it. Look at the
original description in the activity log of this bug at 2016-05-12
08:41:52 change.

File my own bug?! I was the 1st to confirm this bug the same day OP
filed it 5 weeks ago, look at #3. What would I do it again for?!

Practically, this is now a bug that was "fixed" to match a released NM
version.

[Bug 1588594] Re: mountall: potential problem with fuse.ceph

2016-06-02 Thread Francois Lafont
In fact, the problem is not really embarassing in Ubuntu Xenial because
mountall is not used by default to mount the filesystems from fstab.
But, for instance, it's really embarassing in Ubuntu Trusty because:

1. the problem is present in Ubuntu Trusty too (the code C is the same on this
part),
2. by default, mountall is used in Ubuntu Trusty to mount the file system from
fstab at boot.

PS: of course, a workaround possible is to _not_ put "client_mountpoint=/" at
the end like in:

id=cfs,client_mountpoint=/,keyring=/etc/ceph/keyring /mnt/ fuse.ceph
defaults,_netdev 0 0

which is a valid fstab line too.

[Bug 1588594] [NEW] mountall: potential problem with fuse.ceph

2016-06-02 Thread Francois Lafont
Public bug reported:

Hi,

Here is a perfectly valid fstab line to mount a fuse.ceph filesystem
(it's a distributed file system but no importance here):

id=cfs,keyring=/etc/ceph/keyring,client_mountpoint=/ /mnt/ fuse.ceph
defaults,_netdev 0 0

But here are the arguments given to /sbin/mount.fuse.ceph by mountall:

id=cfs,keyring=/etc/ceph/keyring,client_mountpoint= /mnt -o
rw,_netdev

As you can see, I have "client_mountpoint=" but it should be
"client_mountpoint=/" (with the / at the end). The trailing "/" has been
removed and in this case it's a bad idea. The mount at boot just fails
because "client_mountpoint=" is not correct.

In fact, the problem is in src/mountall.c around line 569:

char *colon;
dequote (mnt->device);
/* If our device name is in host:/path format, as is
 * commonly used for network filesystems, don't strip
 * trailing slashes if this is the entire path. We
 * look for the colon starting from the end, so that
 * we correctly handle IPv6 addresses for the host
 * part.
 */
if ((colon = strrchr (mnt->device,':')) != NULL
&& colon[1] == '/')
strip_slashes (colon + 2);
else
strip_slashes (mnt->device); // < bad idea in the specific case of
fuse.ceph filesystem

It's Ubuntu Xenial with mountall version 2.54ubuntu1.

Regards

[Bug 1585058] Re: Sync pixfrogger 1.0-4 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2016-06-02 Thread Jeremy Bicha
>From looking at the publishing history, it looks like version 1.0-3 and
1.0-3ubuntu1 also got stuck in -proposed

Since pixfrogger is only installed on i386, why not try declaring the
binary pixfrogger as Architecture: i386?

By doing so, I wouldn't think you would need the XS-Build-Indep-
Architecture: i386 line.

[Bug 1588589] [NEW] Grub failed because of UEFI mode instead of BIOS mode

2016-06-02 Thread Denis-Carl Robidoux
Public bug reported:

I am trying to replace my 14.04 to 16.04. I formatted my older ext4 /
and ext2 /boot but preserve my older /home.

while trying to install I had a warning about being in UEFI mode but I
had no choice, I don't know how to boot the USB key in any other way
than the one I chose (and I'm not even sure how I've set it in UEFI
mode)

At the end of the install I got a popup window telling my that Grub
failed and that the newly installed system will not boot.

I will now try to tweek grub manually.

Re: [Bug 1584348] app blocked after suspend

2016-06-02 Thread Thomas Meyssonnier
Hi,

I just upgraded to OTA-11 and it seems to get worse.
I was surprised so I didn't think to ps|grep at first but here is the unity
log.

What happened was that Dekko freezed (I think), was still running according
to Launcher but wouldn't focus if selected and not visible with right
swipe. I had to kill it with long press in Launcher and then restart.

I'll try to get the right PID next time, but if the misbehaviour shows up
in unity log it should be within 5mins before the end.

Thanks,
TM

[Bug 1588576] [NEW] libvirt apparmor profile blocks access to ceph config file if cluster name is not "ceph"

2016-06-02 Thread youshotwhointhatwhatnow
Public bug reported:

The name of the Ceph config file depends on the name of your Ceph
cluster. By default the cluster name is just "ceph" so the config file
is named "ceph.conf". If you name your cluster "foobar" your config file
will be named "foobar.conf".

The apparmor profile /etc/apparmor.d/abstractions/libvirt-qemu grants
read access only to "/etc/ceph/ceph.conf" where it really should grant
read access to "/etc/ceph/*.conf".

This is on Xenial server.

[Bug 1584740] [NEW] Libreoffice impress hanging and high cpu on slide operations

2016-06-02 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Steps to reproduce:
- Create a presentation in libreoffice impress, 30-100 slides with or without
images
- Add, copy or delete slides
- On those operations LO Impress hangs a lot; sometimes 5 mins or more
- Opening and saving works quick

Tested on 2 different laptops, both had the same issue. Both did have
Intel Graphics, but different ones. It works fine on the same laptop
with LO 5.1 on Ubuntu 14.04

[Bug 1389215] [NEW] Brightness controls are not working in Unity / Xorg because of Nvidia proprietary driver.

2016-06-02 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Affects: Ubuntu 16.04 and 14.04.
Occurs only with Nvidia proprietary driver. Nouveau works well.

Brightness controls are not working in Unity / Xorg. When pressing the
keys and on my Lenovo W510, I see the indicator on
the screen showing the level of brightness changing, so key mapping is
not the problem. However, the brightness is not changing.

On the kernel level, I have the single following device:

# cd /sys/class/backlight
# ls -l
total 0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Nov  3 17:16 acpi_video0 ->
../../devices/pci:00/:00:03.0/:01:00.0/backlight/acpi_video0

When playing with the and , the value of
/sys/class/backlight/brightness changes accordingly. The screen
brightness does not change.

Performing:

# echo 10 >brightness

...does not have any effect (regardless of the value provided, 10 being
just an example).

WORKAROUND

There is an odd workaround. Simply go to the console using
and using the and keys, brightness
then changes. Return to Unity / Xorg with and the
selected brightness persists.

NON WORKING WORKAROUND

On the web, I read that adding:

Option "RegistryDwords" "EnableBrightnessControl=1"'

in xorg.conf might fix the problem. I do not have an xorg and when I
let the proprietary Nvidia driver generate one and add this option, X
does not start anymore.

Executing should be the default behavior. The fact that it's not
possible to execute at all except by opening the Terminal is insane.

[Bug 1588571] [NEW] Please update evemu to latest release

2016-06-02 Thread Peter Hutterer
Public bug reported:

evemu 2.2 started printing some vital information into the recorded
files (kernel version and dmi modalias). Ubuntu only ships 2.1, so for
every bug report filed upstream by ubuntu users we have to jump through
hoops to request this extra information, causing extra work and delays
in fixing bugs.

[Bug 1588539] Re: boot from USB stick doesn't work

2016-06-02 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1588539/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

2016-06-02 Thread Coeur Noir
@kikito I think it's not exactly the same problem. Automatic update-
manager may only show "security" updates while apt-update shows all
available updates.

What bothers me is the fact since I run xenial, update-manager never
automatically appeared in launcher once.

Only notification.

[Bug 1570472] Re: Set systemd as default service provider

2016-06-02 Thread Nish Aravamudan
@Simon, I think the new debdiff is an improvement, but I have the
following questions/requests:

1) Can you add more DEP3 headers? Author and Source are missing, I think. I
think this is especially important since we're folding multiple upstream
commits into one.
2) Can you use dep3changelog to make the changelog? It makes for a more
consistent formatting in debian/changelog.
3) I noticed the lib/puppet/provider/service/debian.rb changes from
https://github.com/puppetlabs/puppet/commit/7fe61647f23650fc4c93cd6b54c654a20ff7c9f9
do not seem present in your debdiff.
4) From the same commit, I see the change to introduce debian_enabled? has been
backported, but no callers have. The caller would be in enabled? which looks
quite different in 3.8.5, unfortunately, and might imply more history needs to
be imported to properly support systemd? Looking through the commits that came
before that one in the enabled? function, one specifically mentions lxc and
containers, which feels like a relevant case too.

My primary worry is introduction of regression, potentially, for the
SRU. My preference, to avoid that, is for us to match upstream patches
exactly, if we are going to fold them together. If we are not going to
match exactly, then it seems like (to me) it's better to make individual
patches and explain why hunks are dropped in the patch message. This
(given an ideal upstream project) also makes it easier to know when
something was fixed upstream, and if that upstream fix turns out to be a
regression-inducer or have other bugs, it might be so tagged upstream
too.

@Robie do you have an opinion here or guidance on the typical process?

[Bug 1576747] Re: Network manager unable to control wifi after suspend in 16.04

2016-06-02 Thread Dave Chiluk
@cyphermox

Here's the debug output we worked on today. I removed most everything
from before I suspended the machine. Everything remaining is either
from the suspend or the resume.

The output was achieved by adding --log-level=debug to
/lib/systemd/system/NetworkManager.service at the ExecStart= line, and
then restarting.

** Attachment added: "syslog debug output."

[Bug 1580268] Re: Produce mplayer2 transitional package for upgrades

2016-06-02 Thread Paul
No correspondingly updated mplayer-dbg package has been released.
Therefore, after upgrading to mplayer-2:1.2.1-1ubuntu1, mplayer-dbg
(which obviously depends on an identical version of mplayer) can no
longer be installed.

Workaround: downgrade to mplayer-2:1.2.1
