[Bug 1615943] [NEW] Cannot install using apt . Size mismatch in u1404 repos

2016-08-22 Thread Staffan Forsell
Public bug reported:

I cannot install keepass2 via apt in Linux Mint 17.3 from using repo.

The error message is:

W: Failed to fetch
http://ppa.launchpad.net/jtaylor/keepass/ubuntu/pool/main/k/keepass2/keepass2_2.34+dfsg-1~ubuntu14.04~ppa1_all.deb
Size mismatch

Following
http://ppa.launchpad.net/jtaylor/keepass/ubuntu/pool/main/k/keepass2/keepass2_2.34+dfsg-1~ubuntu14.04~ppa1_all.deb
in a browser shows that the package cannot be served from launchpad due
to a virus scan alert.

This seems related to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/keepass2/+bug/1602645 but I choose a
separate bug since this is about installing.
Maybe 2.34 should be removed from repos since it will not install as currently
provided?

[Bug 171054] Re: PDF better under "Export" than "Save As"

2016-08-22 Thread Ryo Furue
I agree that "Save" and "Save As" should be restricted to Inkscape-
compatible SVG and all other formats should be handled by "Export".

Reading through the past postings, I notice there is confusion between
these two notions:

1. The current implementation (mine is 0.91) is functionally complete
 in the save/export department.

2. The current implementation isn't optimal.

You can certainly "export" to PDF by "saving as" (item 1). But the
current implementation is a bit confusing and annoying (item 2).

You edit your SVG image and save it; you then "save" it as PDF; you try
to quit inkscape, but it insists that you have to save it as SVG not to
lose your edits.

Why does this happen? Because the notions of "saving" and "exporting"
aren't clearly distinguished.

By convention (look at major wordprocessors, image editors, etc.),
"save" means save the current document. Therefore, "saving as" PDF
means that you save the current document as PDF and then the new PDF
file "becomes" the new current document. Subsequent saving overwrites to
that PDF file. Then why ask about SVG when quitting inkscape?

The fact is that the current document cannot "become" PDF because PDF
cannot express everything the inkscape-SVG does: when you export to PDF,
some information is lost. Therefore you cannot "save" as PDF: all you
can do is to "export" to it.

. . . This is how the two notions are distinguished by convention. It's
desirable that Inkscape should follow the convention, not to confuse or
irritate the user.

Indeed, they do, which is annoying. For me, it picks up images from

[Bug 1445755] Re: Provide a way to hide images from a particular location

2016-08-22 Thread James Henstridge
Doing a grep over the gallery-app source code, it doesn't look like it
is using mediascanner.

Note that if you stick .nomedia files in the music folder, mediascanner
will respect those and make that music disappear from the music scope
and app though.

Mediascanner is driving the local photos scope though, and these pieces
of folder cover art will likely show up there.

For internal storage, we could filter out photos in the Music folder
(should we also filter out videos? What if an album shipped with some
music and some videos and the user stuck the whole lot in the music
folder?).

For removable media we don't scan media type specific folders, but
instead scan the entire volume. So we don't have an obvious way to
suppress folder cover art, other than ignoring file names that might be
folder art entirely.

[Bug 713385] Re: netcfg/choose_interface=auto fails to find the right interface

2016-08-22 Thread Elson Rodriguez
For anyone else stuck on this, the workaround is to pass
"netcfg/choose_interface=auto" to your kernel.

If you're using cobbler, just `cobbler distro edit --name=
--kopts="netcfg/choose_interface"`

This bug should still be fixed though.

[Bug 1281250] Re: VNC accessible from non-linux machines only with encryption disabled

The upstream bug was reported about 2.5 years ago. It certainly looks
like the developers of Vino are not going to change the default to not
require encryption. Would it be possible to change the default for
Ubuntu to not require encryption at least?

[Bug 1615916] [NEW] Ubuntu upgrade failed 14.04 -> 16.04 (pptpd)

2016-08-22 Thread Taner Halicioglu
Public bug reported:

I don't think this matches the ones that search turned up.

I was upgrading a Linode VM from 14.04 to 16.04 (do-release-upgrade),
and after seeming to upgrade everything(?), it spat this out at the end:

==
Errors were encountered while processing:

Error in function:

Scrolling back up in teh screen session, I see that same set of lines:

That seems to be the only thing that spat out any sort of error.

I will attempt to see what happens after reboot. (Worst case, I will
restore from the snapshot I took just before the upgrade attempt)

[Bug 1579135] Re: AppArmor profile reloading causes an intermittent kernel BUG

2016-08-22 Thread John Johansen
I believe I have finally tracked this one down. It only occurs when an
fd is shared between 9 or more separate profile domains and one of those
profiles is removed. The removal part can happen during the apparmor
reload phase, if a profile was renamed which is more likely on touch and
snappy.

Note: there is a new test kernel using +jj61 at
http://people.canonical.com/~jj/linux+jj/

This should be the final fix for this issue

This issue is not happened on any update/upgrade, and only happened once.
Because we cannot get any operation path to reproduce it, so test with the

| The box does not understand the Unix extensions, thus "sudo mount -t smbfs

any CIFS share not

[Bug 1249663] Re: Trusty gnome flashback indicator-applet-complete disappeared completely. Nothing displays in the top right panel.

2016-08-22 Thread GeeMac
Still ongoing...

I just did a fresh install of 16.04 and the same issue. "Indicator Applet
Complete"
It seems to just crash with the option to restore it. In my case I can restore
it. Mine is at the bottom, I swapped the top with the bottom bar. I have
noticed that with the bars in "autohide" it seems that if there is activity of
the bar opening and closing it will cause the crash faster than a crash with no
activity.
Apparently this looks to be an issue that can't be fixed since it does go back
a few versions of Ubuntu with Flashback (Metacity).
