[Bug 1654116] Re: Attempts to write leadership settings when not the leader during relation-changed hooks
Looking at the rabbitmq logs, it appears to me (I could be misinterpreting): At 21:39:23 -> unit 2 becomes the leader (the leader-elected hook is run) At 21:47:25 -> unit 0 becomes the leader (the leader-elected hook is run) At 22:01:27 -> unit 1 becomes the leader (the leader-elected hook is run) At 22:13:54 -> unit 1 thinks it is the leader and updates leader settings but Juju thinks it is not At 22:17:06 -> unit 0 becomes the leader (the leader-elected hook is run) At 22:22:57 -> unit 0 thinks it is the leader and updates leader settings but Juju thinks it is not So it appears that Juju ran the leader elected hook on both unit 0 and unit 1 and these units tried to do stuff as leader. But Juju thinks unit 2 is leader. Curiously, at 22:17:06 and 22:17:58, unit 2 successfully updates leader settings, even though it should not have been the leader anymore. The charm doesn't appear to use leader elected or deposed hooks - it just symlinks to a common Python file. Juju still thinks that there are hooks though, so it runs the leader-elected hook and logs that. But I can't see any logs of where Juju runs the leader-deposed hook. Perhaps that's a clue? Perhaps that indicates that Juju is getting confused as to who the leader is? It would be useful to have a mongo dump to see what state the model is in. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1654116 Title: Attempts to write leadership settings when not the leader during relation-changed hooks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/autopilot-log-analyser/+bug/1654116/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1662433] Re: Too much shadow for shaped surfaces
Actually I don't think we have a good solution for this yet. When it was last discussed (Den Haag?) and some times before I suggested we should just do shadow updates when the input area changes (or some other client-initiated call). [Bug 1662418] [NEW] Can't view photos on SD card from Canon SX610 because "windows is hibernated"?!

I'm really sorry Jamie I missed that comment and so I didn't follow up, will bring it up on Rocket tomorrow. Please see the comments from #116 , #126 etc in bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lsb/+bug/1536353 I thought that bug is for printers only and not MFD. I am suffering from this issue for more than 10 MONTHS. Even after providing with the screenshots and log files . Till now there isn't any technical guidance.. to solve a partial problem with an essential hardware. AND PROBLEM PERSISTS.. I cannot scan from LINUX.(No problem with Win10) Even though I a like a Canon MFD(not supported by Linux), I opted Epson MFD because Linux supported it. I am a fan of Linux. [Bug 1590799] Re: nfs-kernel-server does not start because of dependency failure
Spyderdyne, Tks for letting me know about the container situation. I this it is easier to reproduce it there. With this tip I was able to reproduce here at will. I first started getting this in a Xenial machine: $ systemctl status nfs-kernel-server.service ● nfs-server.service - NFS server and services Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/nfs-server.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled) Active: inactive (dead) Feb 07 01:46:49 nfsstartxen systemd[1]: Dependency failed for NFS server and services. Feb 07 01:46:49 nfsstartxen systemd[1]: nfs-server.service: Job nfs-server.service/start failed with result 'dependency'. AND (after changing rpcbind.target to rpcbind.socket in the unit files): $ systemctl status nfs-mountd.service ● nfs-mountd.service - NFS Mount Daemon Loaded: loaded (/etc/systemd/system/nfs-mountd.service; static; vendor preset: enabled) Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Tue 2017-02-07 01:55:39 UTC; 39s ago Process: 244 ExecStart=/usr/sbin/rpc.mountd $RPCMOUNTDARGS (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE) Feb 07 01:55:39 nfsstartxen systemd[1]: Starting NFS Mount Daemon... Feb 07 01:55:39 nfsstartxen systemd[1]: nfs-mountd.service: Control process exited, code=exited status=1 Feb 07 01:55:39 nfsstartxen systemd[1]: Failed to start NFS Mount Daemon. Feb 07 01:55:39 nfsstartxen systemd[1]: nfs-mountd.service: Unit entered failed state. Feb 07 01:55:39 nfsstartxen systemd[1]: nfs-mountd.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'. This is good because I expected the error to continue after my last comment - since enabling the socket is EXACTLY what I showed we had before. Malcolm, You were right, for the "nfs-mountd.service" I HAD TO have: Wants=nfs-config.service rpcbind.service After=nfs-config.service rpcbind.service because: BindsTo=nfs-server.service in "nfs-mountd.service" Wasn't enough to guarantee the order if "nfs-server.service" contains: Wants=rpcbind.service After= rpc-statd.service Looks like we have to force the order and I'll have to report this upstream pointing out this bug, together with this fix. Will get back here tomorrow. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1590799 Title: nfs-kernel-server does not start because of dependency failure To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nfs-utils/+bug/1590799/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1638611] Re: Rotating display to 90 and 270 degrees crashes shell
Thanks Bill. I can't see any Mir code in that stack trace. And Gerry is indeed the best person to look at it since he recently fixed another (related?) GL context crash that looked similar. It's worth noting that Unity8 has historically (on phablet) done its own screen rotation independently of Mir's. [Bug 1605478] Re: supertux2 segfaults on native Mir with SDL_VIDEODRIVER=mir trying to call glXQueryVersion
Thanks. Ubuntu appears to just copy and use Debian glew releases. So yes, if you can get Debian to release 2.0.1 that would help us. Yes, KeePass is monitoring and modifying your clipboard all of the time! [Bug 1662378] [NEW] many OOMs on busy xenial IMAP server with lots of available memory
Public bug reported: We recently noticed that a busy xenial IMAP server with about 22 days uptime has been logging a lot of OOM messages. The machine has 24G of memory. Below please find some typical memory info. I noted that there was about 11G of memory allocated to slab, and since all of the oom-killer invoked messages report order=2 or order=3 (see below for gfp_flags) I thought that maybe fragmentation was a factor. After doing echo 2 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches to release reclaimable slab memory, no OOMs were logged for around 30 minutes, but then they started up again, although perhaps not as frequently as before, and the amount of memory in slab was back up around its former size. [Bug 1590799] Re: nfs-kernel-server does not start because of dependency failure
Summarizing >From systemd.special we have: sockets.target: A special target unit that sets up all socket units (see systemd.socket(5) for details) that shall be active after boot. Services that can be socket-activated shall add Wants= dependencies to this unit for their socket unit during installation. This is best configured via a WantedBy=sockets.target in the socket unit's "[Install]" section. Lets see who is starting rpcbind.socket: [Install] WantedBy=sockets.target Unit file will be linked as "wanted" by "sockets.target". $ systemctl list-dependencies sockets.target sockets.target ● ├─acpid.socket ● ├─apport-forward.socket ● ├─dbus.socket ● ├─dm-event.socket ● ├─rpcbind.socket ... $ systemctl --reverse list-dependencies sockets.target sockets.target ● └─basic.target ● └─multi-user.target ● └─graphical.target basic.target starts the sockets.target. sockets.target start rpcbind.socket. rpcbind.target doesn't start rpcbind.service. Lets who starts rpcbind.service: [Install] Also=rpcbind.socket rpcbind.{socket, service} are enabled/disabled together (not started). $ systemctl list-dependencies rpcbind.service rpcbind.service ● ├─rpcbind.socket ● ├─system.slice ● ├─remote-fs-pre.target ● └─rpcbind.target └─... rpcbind.service depends on rpcbind.target (not with my patch) AND rpcbind.socket (started by basic.target with the sockets.target). Lets see rpcbind.target (its a special target made by a generator, its unit file doesn't contain anything): rpcbind.target: The portmapper/rpcbind pulls in this target and orders itself before it, to indicate its availability. systemd automatically adds dependencies of type After= for this target unit to all SysV init script service units with an LSB header referring to the "$portmap" facility. So, systemd puts an After=rpcbind.target in all SysV scripts with LSB header containing "$portmap" as facility (insserv style): $ systemctl status rpcbind.target ● rpcbind.target - RPC Port Mapper Loaded: loaded (/etc/insserv.conf.d/rpcbind; static; vendor preset: enabled) Drop-In: /run/systemd/generator/rpcbind.target.d └─50-hard-dependency-rpcbind-$portmap.conf /etc/insserv.conf.d/rpcbind contains "rpcbind". /run/systemd/generator/rpcbind.service.d/50-rpcbind-\$portmap.conf contains: [Unit] Wants=rpcbind.target Before=rpcbind.target So rpcbind.target doesn't start "rpcbind.service" and any "rpcbind.target" usage seems broken to me. rpcbind was ever started by nfs-{kernel-server,mountd}.service (since they were relying on the rpcbind.target). rpcbind (the portmap) was being activated by a connection to the rpc socket. But NOT the NETWORK socket, the LOCAL socket: [Socket] ListenStream=/run/rpcbind.sock You can test this by stopping the "rpcbind.service" and trying: $ rpcinfo -T tcp 127.0.0.1 rpcinfo: can't contact rpcbind: RPC: Remote system error - Connection refused $ NETPATH=/run/rpcbind.sock rpcinfo program version netid addressserviceowner 104tcp6 ::.0.111 portmapper superuser 103tcp6 ::.0.111 portmapper superuser 104udp6 ::.0.111 portmapper superuser 103udp6 ::.0.111 portmapper superuser 104tcp 0.0.0.0.0.111 portmapper superuser So accessing "/run/rpcbind.sock" is what "started" the rpcbind and the race condition seen was born there, for sure. We have to make sure rpcbind is loaded BEFORE any service depending on it. Lets analyze next if my change (based only on backporting upstream code/fix) accomplishes that.

[Bug 1661741] Re: [Dell Inc. Latitude E5470] suspend/resume failure
So, a strange thing happened. In order to mitigate the problem, I decided to switch to having the computer hibernate instead of suspend (I outline below the steps I did to do that). And then, on a whim, I tried suspending again. And it stopped crashing, even after I switched back to suspend completely. I didn't do any software updates or, as far as I know, anything else in the interim. So right now, I have my computer set to suspend and it seems to work fine. I was waiting a few days to see if the problem reemered but right now, I can't reproduce it at all. For your edification (and maybe for other people), here were the steps I followed: $ gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power sleep-inactive-ac-type 'hibernate' $ gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power \ lid-close-ac-action 'hibernate' \ && gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power \ lid-close-battery-action 'hibernate' - In /etc/systemd/logind.conf, make sure '#HandleLidSwitch=suspend' is commented out, and add HandleLidSwitch=hibernate - And then I saved the attached file to /etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/com.ubuntu.enable-hibernate.pkla To switch back, I reran the shell commands with 'suspend' instead of hibernate and then removed the changes to the config files. ** Attachment added: "com.ubuntu.enable-hibernate.pkla.disabled" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1661741/+attachment/4814420/+files/com.ubuntu.enable-hibernate.pkla.disabled -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1661741 Title: [Dell Inc. In the past the Kubuntu included releases have always given me spell check problems so I tend to remove them and install directly from the LibreOffice web site. Including the language pack -- always works with the correct spell checker. Unfortunately there are issues with version 5.2.3.3 and 5.2.4.2, the toolbars not being rendered correctly. When LibreOffice starts the tool bars do appear but completely distorted and unusable. I download the Linux x64 deb packages. My preference is to have the Kubuntu release work with the correct language pack. Both issues should be reproducible, hopefully I have supplied enough information. There is no attachment, the spell checker should highlight incorrect spelling as well as random text characters.
