Sorry about the above post. Let me try again

I've been having the same problems on a gigabyte p57 xcf3. Bug #1665530
also reports this. Currently I am running the latest bios for this
laptop, Ubuntu 16.10 and kernel 4.10.1-041001-generic.

Initially I did not have the "i8042.nomux=1" parameter. Adding this
parameter to just stop the touchpad working for me, but it seems very
hit-and-miss whether the touchpad decides to work in general.

Another thing not mentioned, the keyboard backlight keys (fn + space)
does not work. However, if I switch on the backllight in windows, it
will stay switched on on the first boot of linux, but switches off for
the second boot.

I guess it is not only Unity problem. We have 8 Ubuntu Mate 16.04 64 bit
computers with Libreoffice 5.2.x and default JRE and in all PCs Zotero
crash both Firefox and Libreoffice (Firefox is not crashed but it can't
be stopped without killing it). There are no problems with
Openoffice.org. There is bug open in Libreofffice
(https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105705), however
there are no progress yet. Zotero is considerable part of our work and
it is much more functional than alternatives so it is serious problem
for us. At the moment we trying to use Mendeley, but it is not as easy
to use and functional as Zotero.

[Bug 1672106] [NEW] Need a way to recognize partionion table inside of LUKS container declaratively and automatically

Lets assume I have LUKS container on the raw `/dev/sdx`. It occupies the
whole disk, so I've opened it, created partition table on corresponding
`/dev/mapper/xyz` and created 2 partitions inside.

Here is the trick: before mounting those partitions I need to run
`kpartx -u -p -part /dev/mapper/xyz` so that I can access those
partitions as `/dev/mapper/xyz-part1` and `/dev/mapper/xyz-part2`.

I'd like to make mounting automatic on boot with `/etc/crypttab` and
`/etc/fstab` only, but I need to run `kpartx` after opening LUKS
container and before mounting target partitions inside of it. This is
possible with custom scripts, but requires quite invasive configuration
which I'd like to avoid.

Currently I'm unable to find any way to declaratively specify that this
container have partition table in it.

What I imaging as a perfect solution is new options supported in
`/etc/crypttab` like following:

xyz UUID=... none luks,kpartx,kpartx-delimiter=-part

Which will result in:
* /dev/mapper/xyz
* /dev/mapper/xyz-part1
* /dev/mapper/xyz-part2

Hmm, that's odd.

Trusty definitely has the --add-subuids argument as we make use of it in
LXC in the archive and LXD for the backport.

It looks like your system wasn't fully on Ubuntu 14.04 before you
upgraded to 16.04 and ended up still using 12.04's version of passwd
which lacks the option.

(drivers not work correctly after install) and I have to use open
drivers instead of. The open driver makes problems in some games.

Okular is not an adequate workaround - after Save or Print, likewise the
fields are blue on black.

Acroread from partner repository is minimally functional, but does not
allow saving partially-filled form, does not integrate with CUPS enough
to offer the CUPS-PDF printer as a printer choice [note I have no
physical printer onsite - workaround is to save to PS file], and does
not make source code available.

FTBFS fix that sets the cups library as the last param to gcc.

The debdiff is between 3.0.1-3, so the changelog chunk will not apply
cleanly to 3.0.1-2 (currently what has been synced from Debian), but it
is an easy fix. I would recommend syncing zesty to cups-pdf 3.0.1-3
anyway.

Both Firefox and Transmission originated hostnames have appeared in the
storms, so it does not seem like an individual application is causing
the problem.

There are so many requests that running tcpdump on a random port (port
29381 is used below) soon catches part of the storm. Example output
below. Note that throughout the duration of these captures, identical
DNS requests were being sent from pretty much every other port as well.

Sorry Evren, my only issue is with this 'blank screen' error. HD speed
tested with HDPARM and it looks fine. Also did not notice any problem
with keyboard, or touchpad. WiFi installation was smooth. Current
version of the kernel is 4.4.0-66-generic. Updating did not get things
worse. Nor better in the case of the black screen bug.

I read your posts on bug #1616830, and let's hope AMD and Canonical work
towards a solution together.

This bug is a joke. This has problem has existed for YEARS. Just search
on the internet for Ubuntu no sound on speakers and you will see this
EXACT SAME issue back in 2012 or 2011. Five or 6 years and you still
can't / don't want to fix it? Ridiculous. this is a problem on Dells,
Acers, Toshibas, HPs. All of them have had this problem. Every time
there's a new release I hope it gets fixed. Has it ever been fixed? If
so, can't you just look to what you did. Or here's an idea, prior to
release, why don't you see if it is broken?

I don't want to use headphones. I don't want to buy an external speaker.
I want my laptop to work as it is. I'm so fed up with
this...

There's no bug.  The upstream PHP module is named php7_module, but the
package is named php7.0.  You can have more php7_module providers -
libapache2-mod-php7.0 | libapache2-mod-php7.1 and in future libapache2
-mod-php7.2, but only one php7_module can be enable at the same time
(related to internal apache2 module structures).  Filling bug with
Debian would be futile, as I would only close it with the same
explanation as here.

This may or may not be relevant... but i did notice in the release notes
for the 5.6.35 version of mysql (the version now being used by our
ubuntu 14.04 update)... it looks like work has been done on the
mysqld_safe script and use of chown is removed.  Is it possible the
necessary security lockdown re-introduced the bug.
