[Bug 1675204] WifiSyslog.txt
apport information ** Attachment added: "WifiSyslog.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1675204/+attachment/4842931/+files/WifiSyslog.txt ** Description changed: I have a very strange issue related to Intel graphics drivers (i915) with 3 connected on-board displays. I have a Xubuntu (14.04 LTS with HWE on 4.4.0-66 kernel) desktop computer running on a i7-6700K processor and on-board graphics (Mobo: AsRock z170 extreme4). I connect it to 3 displays - a 3440x1400 LG display (via onboard DP port), a 1920x1200 Dell display (via on-board HDMI), and a Sony 4k TV (via onboard DVI and a DVI-to-HDMI adapter). If I just connect my desktop to the first two displays (not the TV), everything works fine (except some minor issues). However, if I connect the 4k TV, even the TV is not on, my graphics starts to flicker every 5 min-ish (window theme turns off and then turns quickly back on); after a few flickering, the window theme will disappear, and the screen becomes weird - my chrome window will not fresh, or show blank boxes etc. If I disconnect the DVI connector to the TV (just use the LG+Dell dual- display), flickering and crash will not appear. I want to mention that, when I connect the computer to all 3 displays, I was actually able to get video output to all displays (I used arandr to configure them). I can even get 4k output to the 4k TV at 30Hz. I can't find a useful log entry when the flicking or graphics crash happens. I can only see a "CPU pipe A FIFO underrun" for pipe A/B/F (log attached at the end), but I can see many similar errors in my log and the appearance is not correlated to the flickering/crash. The "pipe A FIFO underrun" issue was previously reported in Bug#1550779. [Bug 1675204] Re: Intel HD graphics crashes when connecting to 3 outputs (DVI+HDMI+DP)
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected trusty ** Description changed: I have a very strange issue related to Intel graphics drivers (i915) with 3 connected on-board displays. I also see "intel(0): HDMI max TMDS frequency 30KHz" entry in my Xorg.0.log file constantly, I also do not see an consistent mapping between the log entry and the flickering. Can anyone tell me how to properly debug this? what can I do to get a log for what was wrong? --- [ 145.033055] WARNING: CPU: 2 PID: 1804 at /build/linux-lts-xenial-drAJVo/linux-lts-xenial-4.4.0/ubuntu/i915/intel_pm.c:3675 skl_update_other_pipe_wm+0x191/0x1a0 [i915_bpo]() [ 145.033058] WARN_ON(!wm_changed) [ 145.033060] Modules linked in: nfsv3 pci_stub vboxpci(OE) vboxnetadp(OE) vboxnetflt(OE) vboxdrv(OE) autofs4 rpcsec_gss_krb5 nfsv4 usblp joydev input_leds ti_usb_3410_5052 usbserial hid_generic gspca_ov534 gspca_main v4l2_common videodev media snd_usb_audio snd_usbmidi_lib usbhid snd_hda_codec_hdmi snd_hda_codec_realtek snd_hda_codec_generic nvidia_uvm(POE) uas usb_storage intel_rapl x86_pkg_temp_thermal intel_powerclamp mxm_wmi coretemp kvm_intel bnep kvm rfcomm irqbypass crct10dif_pclmul crc32_pclmul ghash_clmulni_intel snd_hda_intel snd_hda_codec snd_hda_core nvidia_drm(POE) nvidia_modeset(POE) snd_hwdep aesni_intel snd_pcm aes_x86_64 nvidia(POE) lrw gf128mul snd_seq_midi snd_seq_midi_event glue_helper ablk_helper snd_rawmidi cryptd snd_seq snd_seq_device snd_timer serio_raw snd soundcore nfsd i915_bpo auth_rpcgss nfs_acl nfs binfmt_misc lockd grace 8250_fintek hci_uart sunrpc intel_ips drm_kms_helper btbcm pinctrl_sunrisepoint btqca fscache pinctrl_intel btintel intel_lpss_ac pi bluetooth i2c_hid intel_lpss drm hid video i2c_algo_bit fb_sys_fops syscopyarea sysfillrect sysimgblt shpchp mei_me mei mac_hid acpi_als wmi kfifo_buf industrialio acpi_pad parport_pc ppdev lp parport e1000e psmouse ptp pps_core ahci nvme libahci fjes [ 145.033284] CPU: 2 PID: 1804 Comm: Xorg Tainted: PW OE 4.4.0-66-generic #87~14.04.1-Ubuntu [ 145.033287] Hardware name: To Be Filled By O.E.M. [Bug 1646648] Re: Unity8 crashes with SIGSEGV in qtmir::MirSurface::onCloseTimedOut () at ./src/modules/Unity/Application/mirsurface.cpp:917
I agree in general. However from a practical point of view we don't have the resources to keep yakkety up to date with the latest development, and it's also an inappropriate thing to do for a stable release anyway. Unity8 was still too feature-incomplete in yakkety so it's unrealistic to expect all future development to get backported to it. Even bug fixes. It's so incomplete in yakkety that just fixing a crash or two doesn't really help people. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1646648 Title: Unity8 crashes with SIGSEGV in qtmir::MirSurface::onCloseTimedOut () at ./src/modules/Unity/Application/mirsurface.cpp:917 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1646648/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1668053] Re: [unity8] It's impossible to close some dialogs (missing 'X' window button)
I know, but we've been confused by thinking that's a Mir/Unity8 design document. The parts about good dialog design really describe how to build a good toolkit (qtubuntu), and how to build a good shell assuming that's the only toolkit you need to support. Legacy apps exist that require the shell must provide a close button on the dialog. There's no getting around it. [Bug 1675118] Re: Setting locale breaks sss_ssh_authorizedkeys: set_locale() failed (5): Input/output error
Hi Graham, thanks for reporting your issue, sorry you're having problems. First, this is not an apparmor issue; likely it's an issue with sssd (so adjusting there). Second, sssd in trusty did have an update published for it on 15 March 2017 https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sssd/1.11.8-0ubuntu0.5 (an update from https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sssd/1.11.8-0ubuntu0.3), so perhaps your previous successful deployment was before that update made it out. There was also a recent glibc security update released, but that did not touch locale processing code directly. It would be good to verify that reverting to https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eglibc/2.19-0ubuntu6.9 does not address the issue. The primary commits referenced in the upstream bug report are (for sssd 1.13 branch): https://pagure.io/SSSD/sssd/c/4815471669a25566f6772c228c104a206ffa37f7?branch=sssd-1-13 https://pagure.io/SSSD/sssd/c/76ab3eb947f4d6fe6555d8ea0ae97dc3966f02ac?branch=sssd-1-13 ** Package changed: apparmor (Ubuntu) => sssd (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1675118 Title: Setting locale breaks sss_ssh_authorizedkeys: set_locale() failed (5): Input/output error To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sssd/+bug/1675118/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1675221] [NEW] Installing Bind9 as a recursive server fails in a default install with no editing of files, does not work as a caching server as expected
Public bug reported: Description:Ubuntu 16.10 Release:16.10 I sudo apt install bind9 I did no touching or editing of any bind9 files. I left /etc/network/interfaces alone. In Gnome Network Manager I have a wired Ethernet connection set to a static manual setup. I had 192.168.0.1 for my DNS. I changed it to 127.0.0.1 and rebooted the computer. Upon the fresh login, Firefox failed to load any web sites due to DNS not working. I then set the DNS to 127.0.1.1 and again rebooted. Firefox and other programs like NTP failed DNS lookup. I then set the DNS to 192.168.0.1 and DNS started working again. sudo apt install bind9 should install a working caching server and setting Gnome Network Manager to 127.0.0.1 should produce a working DNS system. This worked perfectly on Ubuntu 15.10. I installed bind9 after having not used it until 16.10 and found that the plug and play, it just works bind9 no longer worked. The following log entries are the only ones available. Mar 22 18:24:42 frontier systemd-resolved[1588]: Using degraded feature set (UDP) for DNS server 127.0.1.1. [Bug 1673215] Re: Second unity8 user session hangs with a black screen
I don't know of any other method other than to make logind allow this case as you've suggested. We cannot make Mir sessions runs on different VTs as that would make USC not work anymore. There may be an issue running X11 sessions through USC as they wont have type=mir but will share the same VT.. ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Assignee: Robert Ancell (robert-ancell) => (unassigned) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1673215 Title: Second unity8 user session hangs with a black screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1673215/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1616695] Re: Bluetooth signal is unusably poor
Well I found a work around for Manjaro/Arch linux... Hope this helps you guys on Ubuntu. I had rebooted into my original install ISO USB drive to check something unrelated and decided to try the BT Headphones on the live ISO, and it all works perfectly! I can walk between rooms and the A2DP works perfectly! So what I did was downgrade my Bluez & Bluez-libs from 5.44 to 5.41-2 and all is good in the bluetooth world! Note: I believe Ubuntu and Arch use different version numbers... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1616695 Title: Bluetooth signal is unusably poor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/1616695/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1675118] Re: Setting locale breaks sss_ssh_authorizedkeys: set_locale() failed (5): Input/output error
Hi Graham, this is unlikely to be an AppArmor issue, the usual results from AppArmor blocking access to a resource will be a Permission Denied response rather than Input/Output error. Just in case I'm wrong though, please paste in any DENIED messages from AppArmor in your kernel's dmesg buffer. [Bug 1581088] Re: Middle mouse (wheel-click) button stopped working after upgrade to 16.04
I'm not sure this is a kernel issue. It appears to be something related to the evdev driver or how the files in xorg.conf.d are interpreted when setting up the evdev driver. the "Evdev Wheel Emulation" is "false" even though my config file xorg.conf.d is trying to set it to "true" - when I manually set it to "true" scrolling works fine. I have a precise install (3.13.0-112-generic kernel) where the scrolling works. When I look at the output of "xinput --list-props XX" for my trackball, I see that "Evdev Wheel Emulation" is "true". On a Xenial install (4.8.0-41-generic kernel), using the same file in xorg.conf.d for my trackball, it shows Evdev Wheel Emulation as false. Looking in the syslog, I see a line for: "/usr/lib/gdm3/gdm-x-session[2042]: (**) Option "EmulateWheel" "true"" but the option isn't being set to true. I believe this is where the problem lies. Here is a work around: find the id of the device that won't scroll using "xinput --list", mine is 11 then check whether wheel emulation is true or false usng "xinput --list- props 11" Here is what I see for list-props when I first boot and log in: Evdev Wheel Emulation (297):0 the 0 is false. Change this with the following: xinput --set-property 11 297 1 where 11 - id of the device 297 - property number (shown in parenthesis from above) 1 is the boolean for true After doing this, the output from "xinput --list-props 11" shows: Evdev Wheel Emulation (297):1 And now the scroll works as it did before I experienced this problem. Can others check what they find using "xinput --list-props xx" to see if this is repeatable? [Bug 1675079] Re: 16.04 LTS Partition /boot fills up with Kernel images, gets underwear in a twist
It is not that old and not marked as fixed.
