[Bug 1361646] Re: Atheros wireless AR9285 keeps disconnecting

2017-08-13 Thread Alan Reynolds
I am having the same Issue with my wireless card and it is very
frustrating. it will just disconnect me randomly and the only fix seems
to be ti reboot. under windows it worked flawlessly, for some reason
under latest ubuntu build, its random. doesnt mean im going back to
windows as 20 quick linux reboots is still faster than one windows
reboot, it is annoying and wish there was a fix. any help would be
greatly appreciated.

[Bug 1697377] Re: Change TextBoxes Direction for RTL languages

2017-08-13 Thread Reza-irdev
** Description changed:

My and all RTL language users problem is that there us no option to
change text direction in a text-box! for example in windows when i press
left CTRL+SHIFT text direction sets to LTR and when press right
CTRL+SHIFT direction changes to RTL. It is a really big problem for us
and its a essential feature. Also automatic direction detection base on
language direction is not good solution at all.

2017-08-13 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when
trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following
command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory
corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a
memory test. Thanks in advance!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 815440] Re: Icons in Dash aren't resizable

This would be one of those cliched "low-hanging-fruits", providing a big

improving the UX and customer experience. But no, six years on, people
are still asking for this.

And then some wonder why Linux doesn't get more acceptance with the
general populace.

It doesn't happen 100% of the time locally, maybe 75% of the time. I
installed gdb and python3.6-dbg in the schroot session and the backtrace
is moderately terrifying: http://paste.ubuntu.com/25309672/

I suspect bouncing on retry will get the package to build eventually but
is probably not the right thing to do.

have the wrong cursor size. Sadly this includes the desktop area
(nautilus-desktop is an X app).

[Bug 1355137] Re: gtk2 theme version improvements for high-dpi screens

2017-08-13 Thread Daniel van Vugt
If the above patches are from January 2015 then they likely need
refreshing for a more current release. They would need to work in 17.10,
and also need to be designed so as to not affect low DPI users.

Please review/update your patches for Ubuntu 17.10, and when done set
the status here back to confirmed.

[Bug 1313539] Re: [DisplayPort] monitor shows black screen and "no input signal" after turning the monitor off and on manually

2017-08-13 Thread santoshbs
I am having the same issue in Lubuntu 17.04 using AMD Firepro W4100 GPU.
Switching off the monitor (Dell) and switching it back on results in
monitor displaying no DP signal. No key combinations or mouse movements
help. The only way I can get it back is hard restart of the computer.
Quite frustrating issue!

[Bug 1710517] [NEW] Enable EFI stub for raspi2 kernels

2017-08-13 Thread Adam Smith
Public bug reported:

U-boot is now able to emulate UEFI and this is used by openSUSE to boot
the raspberry pi [1].

I would like to use this technique to load grub2. However, according to
[2] new versions of grub2 require a 32 bit kernel to be built with EFI
stub enabled.

I have successfully used this U-boot/grub2 combination to boot a generic
aarch64 Ubuntu kernel on my pi3 [3]. It works well and would be a huge
improvement if this could be brought to arm 32 bit.

[Bug 1710318] Re: Please remove webkit1 rdepends removed from Debian Testing

2017-08-13 Thread Jeremy Bicha
** Description changed:

Several webkit1 reverse-dependencies have been removed from Debian
  Testing ('buster').

While I'd like to see them removed from unstable too (or ported away
from webkit1), that will take quite a while longer.

  Removed from testing

bibledit-gtk (note that the source package bibledit is ok and it ships the
same package names)
  cyclograph
  gnome-web-photo
  gnucash
  gphedit
  luakit
  monodevelop
  monodevelop-database
  thawab
  xiphos
  xtrkcad
  webkitgtk-sharp3
  webkit-image
  zekr

Scheduled for autoremoval on or after August 13

Not scheduled for removal in Debian yet
  ===

  webkit-sharp

  Never in Debian
  ===
  lightdm-webkit-greeter
Mike Gabriel from Debian MATE has begun preparing web-greeter (the renamed
version of lightdm-webkit-greeter)

  Other Info

I think the most difficult one on this list for some people is gnucash.
Fedora 27 (due ~November) is actually bundling webkit1 inside the gnucash
packaging. There will be a beta version of gnucash ported to gtk3 available
later this year. Hard to say whether it's better to offer a beta or just remove
it entirely.

The other hard one is empathy. It has been ported to webkit2 in git, but
nobody at GNOME cares enough or has enough confidence in it to release a
new version from git master. Fedora might handle this one.

monodevelop may be useful to some people but I don't think Mono ever got
around to releasing a stable gtk3 version of Mono.

Arch Linux has already completely removed webkit1.

[Bug 1710421] Re: Keyboard accelerators for window menus aren't implemented

2017-08-13 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

I risolved finally. I just run the Software Updater programme, which
completely alone installed the missing packages and cancelled everthing
which I don't need. Now all is going the usual way, like before.

The only good thing about the MM in Europe is, that you wont
understand the verbal attacks against you.

But seriously, just keep looking for the good guys. I have met a lot
of very chill, polite and friendly people in MM who I now play with
sometimes. Are you from the US? I am from Austria so if I meet any
German speaking normal players, I instantly add them to avoid solo q.

Looks like in my case the problem is connected to "failed to connect to

[Bug 566788] Re: /dev/shm isn't writable, causing problems with glibc 2.2+ apps such as chromium

2017-08-13 Thread Paul Okopny
Having the same problem after update 16.10 -> 17.04. Have to do "sudo
chmod -R a+w /dev/shm/" after each reboot.

cat /etc/fstab
# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# Use 'blkid' to print the universally unique identifier for a
# device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name devices
# that works even if disks are added and removed. See fstab(5).

cat /proc/self/mountinfo | grep shm

Any ideas?

I think the duplicate is assigned incorrectly as this ticket is
specifically about gtk2, and that one is gtk3.

[Bug 1671570] Reminder of SRU verification policy change

2017-08-13 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to verify this stable release fix. We
have noticed that you have used the verification-done tag for marking
the bug as verified and would like to point out that due to a recent
change in SRU bug verification policy fixes now have to be marked with
per-release tags (i.e. verification-done-$RELEASE). Please remove the
verification-done tag and add one for the release you have tested the
package in.  Thank you!

[Bug 1574120] Re: Notebook doesn't suspend when lid is closed after update to 16.04

2017-08-13 Thread Bill Duetschler
Installing the "pm-utils" package--which for some reason wasn't
installed on a fresh install of Ubuntu 17.04--fixed it, along with
altering my /etc/systemd/logind.conf did the trick. I altered it to
read:

HandleSuspendKey=suspend
HandleHibernateKey=suspend
HandleLidSwitch=suspend
HandleLidSwitchDocked=suspend

And now everything works.

[Bug 1705766] Re: Invalid DNSSEC signatures on empty responses to mixed-case queries

2017-08-13 Thread Robie Basak
> ...IMO it seems a bit of a waste of effort backporting this specific
fix, without also backporting the critical fixes from 4.0.0 alpha 3 and
later, which in turn would be best done by going straight to 4.0.0
release (or 4.0.4+)

As I said, I'd be happy to consider either approach. I think it's up to
whoever volunteers to do the work to decide which is easier.

[Bug 1705425] Re: package cacti 0.8.8f+ds1-4ubuntu4.16.04.2 failed to install/upgrade: underprocessen installerade post-installation-skript gav felkod 1

2017-08-13 Thread Paul Gevers
I have seen this error "Specified key was too long; max key length is
1000 bytes" when I tried to install an older version of cacti on a newer
MariaDB. Is the MySQL/MariaDB server running the default Ubuntu package
on the localhost or is it running remotely? If the latter which one
(MySQL or MariaDB) is it running and which version.

[Bug 1705766] Re: Invalid DNSSEC signatures on empty responses to mixed-case queries

2017-08-13 Thread Brian Candler
PDNS 4.0.0-alpha2 in Xenial is horribly broken(*) so IMO it seems a bit
of a waste of effort backporting this specific fix, without also
backporting the critical fixes from 4.0.0 alpha 3 and later, which in
turn would be best done by going straight to 4.0.0 release (or 4.0.4+)

PDNS is a fine piece of software, and it's a shame that for many people
their first experience will be using the Xenial package, which may put
them off forever - it nearly did for me.

(*) at least with a SQL backend:
https://mailman.powerdns.com/pipermail/pdns-users/2016-May/024192.html

At the moment, it seems the only safe way to run pdns-server on Xenial
is to use the packages from the origin repository:
