[Bug 1619859] Re: calibre crashes on start
See https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=278447 for a workaround. Basically, calibre tries to load an icon which silently fails somewhere in the stack, because of its size. [Bug 1716068] Re: Gnome Shell crashes randomly
Sometimes crash reports don't work reliably. I can confirm it failed to log a new bug for you: https://bugs.launchpad.net/~jstevz4teh1337/+reportedbugs?orderby=-id=0 Of course, you shouldn't be running 'gnome-shell --replace' normally unless it's already crashed beforehand. Had it crashed before you ran that command? Even still, it sounds like a dangerous way to restart the shell because the act of it restarting might kill your terminal which is now the parent of the shell. So restarting the shell like that could make it crash immediately, unless you also do: nohup gnome-shell --replace & Please answer the question in the previous paragraph and also try the above more correct command instead. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1716068 Title: Gnome Shell crashes randomly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1716068/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1717825] [NEW] Switch from Ubuntu One dialog in plugins and use standard dialog
Public bug reported: [Impact] In GNOME Software 3.20 (Xenial) we have an Ubuntu One dialog that runs inside the plugins. GNOME 3.22 implemented a authentication dialog into the GNOME Software code in 3.22 (based on our dialog) which we switched to using. The dialog support was backported into 3.20.5. When the current dialog is run it runs from a different thread to the main UI. GTK+ is not thread safe and so this is likely to cause random crashes. May be the cause of bugs like bug 1614130. Remove a snap Expected result: - The Ubuntu One dialog shows, works and the snap is removed [Test Case 2] 1. Write an app review Expected result: - The Ubuntu One dialog shows, works and the review is written. NOTE: Pick an app with few reviews so you can see your one that is added. May need to restart GNOME Software to see review (this is existing behaviour). [Regression Potential] Change is non-trivial, though the dialog code has been used in GNOME Software 3.22 and onwards. [Bug 1717713] [NEW] Artful 17.10 delays screen listing of RECOLL search output by as much as six minutes.
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I use RECOLL to search out PDF research documents for biological investigations. Since installing Artful 17.10, the results of a document search are delayed from appearing on the screen by as much as six minutes. I've cleaned all RECOLL files and directories from my machine and clean-installed version Recoll 1.23.2 + Xapian 1.4.4. I compiled Xapian-Core, Xapian-Omega, and Xapian-Bindings on 14 September using latest version of gcc, version 7. Since I only index biological papers, I restricted TOPDIR to /home/denny/backup/Reprints. The subdir Reprints holds 26 directories labeled as A..Z, with the dominant file-type PDF. In the state of Florida there is a biological reserve named Paynes Prairie where much of the research at the University of Florida is done. I used the search pair of Paynes Prairie just as it appears here, and used "all terms" as search criteria. In the search, the result count est. was 64, and the count appeared instantly. Then 4 minutes and 30 seconds elapsed before the first 24 file elements appeared. The second 24, returns 25-48, took 6 minutes and 10 seconds, and the last set, 49-64, took 5 minutes and 30 seconds to appear on the screen. In using any term as search criteria, the Results count est. of 943 appears immediately. The sets 1-24 and 25-48 appear on screen nearly instantly (presumably from the all terms search), but subsequent sets of the 943 return in a diminishing series, 1:35 then 0:45, 0:20 and by the 300-series of returns the interval is between 0:15 and 0:08 seconds. I noted that the hard drive access light was on continuously during all of the search series. Searches with Query language, all terms and any term each show long delays in returning results. Only the file name search responds with the quickness that I remember from an earlier install. If I make input to RECOLL from a terminal window (I use guake), the response is so fast that I would call it "instant". All 64 file listings appeared in a continuous cascade. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: 17.10 artful delay display indexed pdf recoll xapian -- Artful 17.10 delays screen listing of RECOLL search output by as much as six minutes. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1717713 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Replacing the dkms.conf with this version, and putting the above patch into the patches folder, then rebuilding the module using dkms solves the issue. ** Attachment added: "dkms.conf" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bcmwl/+bug/1713638/+attachment/4951911/+files/dkms.conf -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1713638 Title: bcmwl-kernel-source 6.30.223.271+bdcom-0ubuntu1~1.1: bcmwl kernel module failed to build [error: ‘struct net_device’ has no member named ‘last_rx’] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bcmwl/+bug/1713638/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1717771] Re: confusing btrfs storage pool creation
We certainly should be doing a better job at detecting existing btrfs and having "lxd init" default to something sane in that case. For the record I believe the expected flow is: 1) Create new storage pool => yes 2) Name of storage backend => btrfs 3) Create new BTRFS pool => yes 4) Would you like to use an existing block => no 5) Would you like to create a new subvolume => yes Now I think it'd make sense for 5 to be moved to 3 as that's what most people will want in such cases. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1717771 Title: confusing btrfs storage pool creation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxd/+bug/1717771/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1717820] [NEW] gedit: Use 'builder' color scheme by default
Public bug reported: By default, gedit uses the 'classic' color scheme. I think the 'builder' color scheme looks a bit closer to Ubuntu's colors. (grey, orange, green, and blue instead of blue, green, red, and purple). It's also nice because it has a Dark variant and it is the same color scheme used by default in GNOME Builder. You can change the color scheme by opening gedit. I recommend opening a typical source code file. Click the app menu in the top bar and select Preferences. Switch to the Fonts & Colors tab. Select the Color Scheme you want. The gsettings is [org.gnome.gedit.preferences.editor scheme] 'builder' We are now past Ubuntu 17.10 User Interface Freeze, but I think this change is worth considering for 18.04 LTS. ** Affects: ubuntu-settings (Ubuntu) Importance: Wishlist Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1717820 Title: gedit: Use 'builder' color scheme by default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-settings/+bug/1717820/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
