[Bug 1589008] Re: Bluetooth freezing video playback In Ubuntu/Kubuntu 16.04
Sorry to report that bug still persists. Took longer to show up though. Was able to watch video for about 15 min. Slowly started losing sync between audio and video, then eventually video freezes. Unable to resume normal playback even after reboot. Able to resume if I play video through built in speakers for a time then switch back to bluetooth. After about 15 minutes, problem resumes, again until I play audio through built in speakers. Hope this info helps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1589008 Title: Bluetooth freezing video playback In Ubuntu/Kubuntu 16.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1589008/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

It was a big issue to boot because apparmor seems to block most things like dhclient so its difficult to get an IP address. Needed to manually run dhclient after boot in terminal with this kernel 4. [3.647168] i915_bpo :00:02.0: Direct firmware load for i915/kbl_dmc_ver1.bin failed with error -2 [3.647171] i915_bpo :00:02.0: Failed to load DMC firmware [https://01.org/linuxgraphics/intel-linux-graphics-firmwares], disabling runtime power management. Fix: Add new firmware files. Test case: Test with affected hw and with a kernel which has the driver update. Regression potential: These are new files, so no regressions are possible outside of that driver. ** Affects: linux-firmware (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: AceLan Kao (acelankao) Status: In Progress ** Changed in: linux-firmware (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => AceLan Kao (acelankao) ** Changed in: linux-firmware (Ubuntu) Status: New => In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1720041 Title: Add GuC firmware for Kabylake v9.14 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/1720041/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1700827] Re: [MIR] pcp package
Update #2. All unchecked calls to the [v]s[n]printf family of string manipulation routines have been fixed in the github pcp master branch now as well. That area, and the __pmProcess* APIs Ken has added (and associated, on going conversion of system/popen/... call sites) covers most, if not all, of Seths original list I think. We have an upstream PCP release (pcp-3.12.2) planned for Oct 18th. If another review could be done within the next week or two, that would give us the remaining time to tackle any outstanding issues found by 2nd review & it might serve as a good base version for Ubuntu's need. cheers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1700827 Title: [MIR] pcp package To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/pcp/+bug/1700827/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1720036] [NEW] Initramfs configuration hook overlayroot sets CRYPTSETUP=1
Public bug reported: Running Ubuntu Server 17.10 preview downloaded from cdimages.ubuntu.com. update-initramfs produces a warning complaining that CRYPSETUP should not be set in /etc/initramfs.conf, but in /etc/cryptsetup-initramfs /conf-hook. This happens with or without full disk encryption. $ sudo update-initramfs -u update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-4.13.0-12-generic WARNING: Setting CRYPTSETUP in /etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf is deprecated and will stop working in the future. Use /etc/cryptsetup-initramfs/conf-hook instead. Further investigation showed that the warning is produced by the script /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/cryptroot, part of package cryptsetup. The warning is caused by the configuration file /usr/share/initramfs- tools/conf-hooks.d/overlayroot, part of the package overlayroot, which sets CRYPTSETUP=1. [Bug 1155216] Re: Unable to umount isodevice
Seeing this now with artful desktop iso, September 27, 2017! Iso is loaded from usb drive, iso mounts the hd to usb's /isodevice, fails to umount, hangs install. Going into xterm, sudo umount -f, did not work, but hopefully adding sudo umount -l -r -f /isodevice is going to work now. Thanks. I installed to usb drive, copied the system dirs to the hard drive, haha. That got me past the bad state with x11 crash loop, but now the wifi doesn't work and synaptic won't load, so I'll have to go into install again, xterm, sudo the umount with all three switches. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1155216 Title: Unable to umount isodevice To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1155216/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1700827] Re: [MIR] pcp package
Update. We've written replacements for system() and popen() that use execvp() and do not call /bin/sh -c "some command". These are __pmProcessExec() and __pmProcessPipe() in libpcp. All uses of system() and popen() in the core libpcp library have been converted to the new routines. There are 16 other uses of popen() in C code outside the core libpcp library that will be converted shortly. There is one popen() in some Python code that will need additional thought/review. There are only a handfull of other system() uses that do not involve literal strings ... we'll work through those. And I've made some changes for the x = realloc(x, ...) pattern, but so far all of these are on fatal error paths that lead directly to exit(), so I'll continue to work on these as time permits, but don't view these as a significant risk.

[Bug 1720033] [NEW] VLC fails to detect correct DPI on Wayland, missing GTK style
Public bug reported: Running VLC in the Ubuntu Wayland session on 17.10 results in bigger fonts and menus, default blue window decoration and no style applied when default is selected in the settings menu. I can set a different style than the default and after some poking around and installing some packages (adwaita-qt qt5-gtk-platformtheme qt5-style-plugins, also vlc refused to run I had to install qtwayland5) I was able to successfully set Adwaita or gtk+, but I found no solution for the window decorations and huge text. I'm not sure if this is a problem with qt5 and light-themes or Wayland. - I checked Fedora 26 with Gnome Shell, were the application is rendered as expected (see attached screenshots). I checked on 2 different laptops where I'm currently testing 17.10. Both Ubuntu and Fedora ship VLC 3. - A similar bug appears to have been reported upstream: https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/17929 - I also searched the Arch Linux wiki for more information, but got no further than this: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Uniform_look_for_Qt_and_GTK_applications ** Affects: vlc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1720033 Title: VLC fails to detect correct DPI on Wayland, missing GTK style To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vlc/+bug/1720033/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1624644] Re: By default settings unattended-upgrade is unable to automatically remove packages that become unused in conjunction with updating by other software.
There were like 3 versions of metapackage auto removal, I don't remember exactly. I think in the beginning, we just autoremovef everything. Then we did not mark packages as automatically installed if installed by a meta package. Then we moved to moving the auto bit on uninstall, but maybe only if the meta is removed due to a conflict, and not when manually. I only followed this on the sidelines. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1624644 Title: By default settings unattended-upgrade is unable to automatically remove packages that become unused in conjunction with updating by other software. [Bug 1719938] Re: 17.10: No input method for CJK languages
@Gunnar, here on an updated artful system only "chinese" is listed in the gnome-control-center interface, not "chinese (sunpinyin)" (after installing the chinese support from language-selector). The shell UI lists "chinese zh" but selecting it doesn't give access to ibus input method nor the completion UI and typing just gives a qwerty layout ibus-sunpinyin is installed but in ibus-setup the input tab only lists french so it looks like ibus didn't get correctly setup by GNOME when selected -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1719938 Title: 17.10: No input method for CJK languages To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-translations/+bug/1719938/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Daniel, yes the extensions that are part of GNOME Classic (and installed as part of gnome-shell-extensions) have the same problem. [Bug 1719938] Re: 17.10: No input method for CJK languages
I could reproduce this with the 2017-09-26 ISO. $ cat /etc/default/keyboard XKBLAYOUT=se BACKSPACE=guess $ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.input-sources sources [('xkb', 'se')] However, IBus was up and running (as it should be for all users) and the necessary input methods had been installed. [Bug 1718668] Re: Libvirt FTBFS in Artful on x86
So summarizing, while I fail to see the way to a fix I can now quite well summarize the issue and provide steps to reproduce. I'll go to the devel mailing list with that: Hi, there seems to be an incompatibility to the last glibc due to [1]. Eventually this breaks gnulib unittests (and maybe more). Debugging went from an assert, to bidngin different symbols, to changed function names to different header resolution. Because it expects it to behave "posixly" but arguments are changed differently. FAIL: test-getopt-posix === ../../../../gnulib/tests/test-getopt.h:754: assertion 'strcmp (argv[1], "donald") == 0' failed # get latest libvirt to get their style of local gnulib # (sorry I couldn't get git://git.sv.gnu.org/gnulib.git to work showing the issue, yet I also couldn't identify a fix there that I could leverage) $ wget http://libvirt.org/sources/libvirt-3.7.0.tar.xz $ tar xf libvirt-3.7.0.tar.xz $ cd libvirt $ apt build-dep libvirt $ ./autogen.sh $ make -j4 $ gcc -Wall -I ./gnulib/lib -I . test.c -o test -H I really wanted to come up with the same against gnulib itself, but I was lost in the build system for too long and hope one can translate it if you think it is needed. Well until then you can run the following simplified test derived from the unit test (it is much shorter, so easier to debug). $ cat << EOF >> test1.c #include #include #include #include #include int main (void) { return 0; } EOF $ gcc -I ./gnulib/lib -I . test1.c -H You can see in -H output already the difference in the paths of the headers that it uses: Glibc <2.26 . ./config.h .. ./config-post.h . /usr/include/unistd.h [...] .. /usr/include/getopt.h Glibc >=2.26 . ./config.h .. ./config-post.h . ./gnulib/lib/unistd.h [...] ... ./gnulib/lib/getopt.h If you build with -E you'll also see that it now uses getopt from glibc instead of the prefixed rpl_getopt from gnulib. Sorry, but I don't see the right fix here - I could easily silence the test but that is no fix. Especially since this might have all sort of implications due to handling the args (slightly) differently. Therefore 'm reaching out to you for your help and experience on the build system what could be done.
