[Bug 1745510] Re: KDE Loses Sound Devices/Audio
** Also affects: plasma-pa (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: Brief Version: https://askubuntu.com/questions/995281/audio-devices- disappear TL;DR: My version of Kubuntu keeps losing audio devices/audio and cannot recover, including after reinstalling pavucontrol, alsa, etc. I can't figure out how to get this to stop, and is a certain... and very persistant bug. I've tried multiple uninstalls, and reinstalls, and occasionally, one day after restarting the system, the audio bug is present and never goes away again. All attempts to raise volume don't work that I've tried. The askubuntu page has more detail, including my hardware specs. I should also add that the bluetooth connector also has audio problems and appears to be broken as well. + After recommendation of a person on Kubuntu forums, I have found a + temporary fix. Running: + + sudo apt-get remove --purge alsa-base pulseaudio + sudo apt-get install alsa-base pulseaudio pulseaudio-module-bluetooth* + sudo alsa force-reload + + Seems to work 100% of the time, however, the bug always re-appears. + Naturally, this is rather inconvenient, and requires connection to the + internet. + + By process of elimination, I have ruled that installing plasma-pa* + always causes the bug. Every time plasma-pa* is installed, the bug + appears. When it is uninstalled and sudo alsa force-reload is run, sound + is always restored. Attempting the reload while plasma-pa* is installed + always fails to restore sound. + I can provide stats/logfiles/proof upon demand, just tell me what to do. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1745510 Title: KDE Loses Sound Devices/Audio To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/+bug/1745510/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1624320] Re: systemd-resolved appends 127.0.0.53 to resolv.conf alongside existing entries
On my bionic system, I had to manually remove resolvconf on account of bug 1713457. I think it was not being autoremoved because other packages like isc-dhcp-client, pppconfig, vpnc-scripts have Suggests: resolvconf. So I don’t think I’m seeing this particular issue. However, the lack of resolvconf cooperation means that openconnect run from the command line fights with systemd-resolved over /etc/resolv.conf. I’m sure that all kinds of nonsense bugs like that are waiting to be rediscovered. For the record, I’m still really quite angry at systemd-resolved for a number of issues that upstream seems to have no interest in addressing. Its own DNSSEC validation is disabled in Ubuntu because it’s broken (bug 1628778), yet it also breaks DNSSEC validation in applications downstream of it (https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/4621). It breaks ‘dig +trace’ (https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/5897). It doesn’t work with resolvconf in a sane way. The many previous issues I’ve had with it took way too long to be addressed. And it does nothing useful that dnsmasq didn’t do! (I even had NetworkManager’s dnsmasq configured to to DNSSEC validation and it worked just fine.) I’m not one of those anti-systemd people who hates change for the sake of hating change. But systemd-resolved is an actual flaming garbage pile that needs to be vitrified and launched into the sun. ** Bug watch added: github.com/systemd/systemd/issues #5897 https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/5897 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1624320 Title: systemd-resolved appends 127.0.0.53 to resolv.conf alongside existing entries To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1624320/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This bug was fixed in the package wpa - 2:2.6-15ubuntu1 --- wpa (2:2.6-15ubuntu1) bionic; urgency=low * Merge from Debian unstable. Remaining changes: - debian/patches/wpa_service_ignore-on-isolate.patch: add IgnoreOnIsolate=yes so that when switching "runlevels" in oem-config will not kill off wpa and cause wireless to be unavailable on first boot. - debian/patches/session-ticket.patch: disable the TLS Session Ticket extension to fix auth with 802.1x PEAP on some hardware. - debian/patches/android_hal_fw_path_change.patch: add a DBus method for requesting a firmware change when working with the Android HAL; this is used to set a device in P2P or AP mode; conditional to CONFIG_ANDROID_HAL being enabled. - debian/config/wpasupplicant/linux: enable CONFIG_ANDROID_HAL. - debian/control: Build-Depends on android-headers to get the required wifi headers for the HAL support. - debian/patches/dbus-available-sta.patch: Make the list of connected stations available on DBus for hotspot mode; along with some of the station properties, such as rx/tx packets, bytes, capabilities, etc. * Updated debian/patches/dbus-available-sta.patch for new getter API and refreshed other patches. wpa (2:2.6-15) unstable; urgency=medium * Update debian/control: - Update Maintainer field to point to $pack...@packages.debian.org - Update Vcs-* fields to point to salsa.d.o - Drop no longer active uploaders. wpa (2:2.6-14) unstable; urgency=medium * Replace the PEM fix patch by Lukasz Siudut with an upstream patch. [Bug 1745657] Re: Why not the 2.18.16 LTR version for Bionic Beaver?
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Because this package is in sync with Debian, it would be nice if somebody could send the request to the packagers of the software by following the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Debian/Bugs . If you have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a bugwatch that will inform us about its status. [Bug 1745646] Re: Battery drain when laptop off (shutdown) , WOL disabled , no usb device connected
The TPM (Trusted Platform Module) ACPI device isn't know by the v4.13 kernel. Support for it was introduced with commit 4cb586a18 in v4.14 so it should be supported by the 18.04 kernel once it is rebased to v4.15, and will eventually be available to 16.04 as the package: linux-image- lowlatency-hwe-16.04-edge. git describe --contains 4cb586a18 v4.14-rc2~6^2~34 It's possible the TPM is active and not using power-saving modes when the system is shutdown since Linux v4.13 doesn't know how to manage it (but it'll have been enabled by the firmware at boot time). This could explain why Windows doesn't see the same issue if it's TMP driver puts the device to sleep. I'll review the disassembled DSDT/SSDTs later and leave remarks if I notice anything else that could be the culprit. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1745646 Title: Battery drain when laptop off (shutdown) , WOL disabled , no usb device connected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1745646/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
