[Bug 843431] Re: Logitech camera microphone does not work / makes "chipmunk" sound

2018-05-13 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
May be a good idea to try older kernels in [0] to make sure it's a
regression.

+
+ [Fix]
+ Use correct version control length for UVC1.5.
+
+ [Regression Potential]

[Bug 1771059] [NEW] Ubuntu 18.04 Installation Failed

2018-05-13 Thread Adam Tan
Public bug reported:

I'm trying to install Ubuntu 18.04 on my Asus laptop which was
previously running Windows 10. But as the files are being copied,
installation stops and shows this message:

The installer encountered an error copying files to the hard disk:

[Errno 5] Input/output error

This is often due to a faulty CD/DVD disk or drive, or a faulty hard
disk. It may help to clean the CD/DVD, to burn the CD/DVD at a lower
speed, to clean the CD/DVD drive lens (cleaning kits are often available
from electronics suppliers), to check whether the hard disk is old and
in need of replacement, or to move the system to a cooler environment.

Note: It's a brand new laptop, Asus X441N

[Bug 1607067] Re: Add a dotfiles / hidden files interface

2018-05-13 Thread Zygmunt Krynicki
Hello. Sorry for the lag, we have a few bugs and feature requests and
just a handful of hands to make them all fixed. We have added one pair
of interfaces, specifically for ssh keys (public and private) as a pair
of interfaces. I don't think we will add a generic "this dot file"
interface but we can easily add a dedicated one (for a specific dot
file) because this has measurable security impact and can be
appropriately gated.

I would prefer to close this bug and open one for a specific new
interface. Such interface can be implemented and tested in about an
hour.

[Bug 1666681] Re: Restore interactive_search.patch (type-ahead search)

2018-05-13 Thread Chris Billington
Lubomir, what changes were required on top of the arch patch to work
with 3.26.3? I'm using the Arch patch as-is on Ubuntu 18.04 and there
don't appear to be any problems that I've noticed so far. But assuming
your changes are necessary, could you publish them somewhere? It would
be great to maybe have a public git repo that people could contribute to
to maintain patches for the latest few versions of Nautilus that are in
common use.

Ubuntu devs - now that there is a working patch again (and seemingly the
will to maintain it by the arch community and others), might Ubuntu be
able to ship a patched nautilus once more restoring this behaviour?

[Bug 1771057] [NEW] Cannot authenticate with kernel 4.15.0-20-generic

2018-05-13 Thread SeijiSensei
Public bug reported:

Kubuntu 18.04
Platform: amd64 on an Intel i5
Kernel: 4.15.0-20-generic
Device: TP-Link AC1200
Router: TP-Link Archer AC1750

I tried installing this driver twice today, once via the Driver Manager,
and once directly from the command line with "sudo apt install
rtl8812au-dkms". The driver compiles, and I can load the module from
the command prompt with insmod. It can occasionally connect to the
802.11n SSID, but never to the 802.11ac SSID running at 5 GHz. It fails
to authenticate with the stored password and pops up the password dialog
box. Entering the password there fails as well.

[Bug 1065400] Re: Support for loading Broadcom bluetooth firmware

2018-05-13 Thread Alecz20
I have same issue as @painterengr

I had the problem where the Bluetooth mouse would work at first, but
then suddenly: "Bluetooh Disabled".

I checked dmesg and found this:

Bluetooth: hci0: Broadcom Bluetooth Device
[5.279438] Bluetooth: hci0: BCM20702A1 (001.002.014) build 1761
[5.281325] bluetooth hci0: Direct firmware load for
brcm/BCM20702A1-0a5c-21f3.hcd failed with error -2
[5.281333] Bluetooth: hci0: BCM: Patch brcm/BCM20702A1-0a5c-21f3.hcd not
found

Which led me to this bug reports and and I quickly found this:
https://github.com/winterheart/broadcom-bt-firmware/blob/master/brcm/BCM20702A1-0a5c-21f3.hcd
Which I copied over to /lib/firmware/brcm/BCM20702A1-0a5c-21f3.hcd

After I rebooted the machine, the Bluetooh icon was completely gone from
the GUI and in settings it says "Bluetooh disabled"

So using that firmware completely botched Bluetooth on my system.

[Bug 1767116] Re: package nvidia-340 (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/lib/udev/rules.d/71-nvidia.rules', which is also in package nvidia-kernel-common-390 390.48-0ubunt

2018-05-13 Thread Michael Bloom
At their web site, Nvidia is able to detect the specific nvidia GPU
present in the current system from the web page.

It would thus seem to be reasonable for an nvidia package installation
to perfom a similar check during installation, and compare the current
GPU against a list of those supported by the software being installed.

Unless manually overridden, this could be used to prevent installation
of versions of software known to be incompatible with the current GPU
from interfering with a separate installation of compatible software.
(or to revert steps already performed it if the check could not be
performed before changes had already been made)

The use of such a check could be prophylactic against bug reports such
as this one.

Upgrade to higher version(1.8) of NM should fix this. However xenial is stuck
in 1.2.6... So I think 18.04 upgrade can fix this - which NM is 1.8.10.

[Bug 1470235] Re: PolicyKit high memory usage

2018-05-13 Thread Wedge009
I have this issue on 17.10 and 18.04 but I'm not sure if it's related to
the original reporter's case because for me I suspect it's related to
amdgpu-pro. In earlier distributions the memory leak was elsewhere - I
can't remember if it was in xorg or plasmashell, though. I *think* it
also happened with fglrx, before amdgpu was released, but that was so
long ago now I can't be sure.

Regardless, the way I work around this is to restart the polkitd service
every now and then. Otherwise, after a few days the memory usage is in
the order of *gigabytes*!

successfully after I configure an IP without actually internet access.
But if I use UEFI, the install would failed and can't boot into the

[Bug 1770040] Re: lbaas load balancer does not forward traffic unless agent restarted

2018-05-13 Thread Jean Duminy
When you restart
"After restarting the service, all the traffic passes perfectly."
this issues a GARP which re advertiser the location of the floating IP.
In our case the floating IP could be one any of the compute 6 nodes (if used by
nova)
Or on the 2 neutron servers (used by LBaasS)

"Distributed Virtual Routers are created on each Compute node
dynamically on demand and removed when not required. Distributed Virtual

"This would create an issue because we will be seeing the same

[Bug 1771044] [NEW] sysconfig-debian-schemes.diff patch causes Python packages to FTBFS

2018-05-13 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

This weekend, we noticed that link-grammar fails to build from source
because of a change in python3.6. I've now found a second case with
redshift.

These packages still build in Debian unstable. Therefore, it looks like
the sysconfig-debian-schemes patch is to blame.

The "fix" for link-grammar looks wrong. It does not feel like it would
be an improvement to update all affected packages like this.

It's interesting that autopkgtest did its job here by link-grammar
failing its tests but the failure was basically quickly ignored.

[Bug 1759836] Re: systemd-udevd consumes 100% of CPU

2018-05-13 Thread Wedge009
Adding some information in case it's useful.

Old - but still useful - Intel Core 2 laptop with discrete Mobility
Radeon GPU. I had nvidia packages installed for development purposes
years ago, but don't really use them any more. After the upgrade from
17.10 to 18.04 (only performed 2018-05-12, several days after official
release), I noticed single-threaded 100% CPU usage from systemd-udevd,
with modprobe starting and exiting over and over again. I saw lots of
messages complaining about NVIDIA hardware not being found in dmesg
output. After uninstalling the nvidia packages and rebooting, the high
CPU usage seemed to go away.

So at least on my system, it seems there was a conflict between having
nvidia drivers present with no NVIDIA hardware available.

Just a quick update, we noticed 2 other bugs pop up a few days ago where
they hit very similar traces to what's been recorded here even without
doing live migration. For instance

Bug 167748 - LP1770784- ISST-

which has a similar beginning call trace to the initial bug reported
here. And:

Bug 167480 - ISST-LTE:KVM:Ubuntu1804:BostonLC:boslcp3g4:ubuntu1604:P8
compat guest crashed & enters into xmon after few hours of LTP run.

[c002b1c13e30] c0009484 system_call+0x38/0xe4

which is similar to the crash I saw with filp_close.

The major things those bugs have in common with this one is both the
guest and host SAN disks are using block multiqueue instead of legacy
deadline/cfq schedulers, which was seen to have issues WRT to other
patches like the one mentioned here:

https://bugzilla.linux.ibm.com/show_bug.cgi?id=167294#c47

We started testing using last Ubuntu 4.15 with a set of patches that
Ziviani put together there:

https://github.com/jrziviani/linux-devel/commits/BLK_MQ_CPU

but I was still eventually able to hit a crash. However, when I
disabled blk-mq via "scsi_mod.use_blk_mq=n dm_mod.use_blk_mq=n" in
host/guest I didn't see any crashes after 130 migrations. However, I did
see IO errors + read-only filesystem after extended runs, which have
also been seen elsewhere with no live migration involved. So there's a
possibly the bug here is related to issues seen elsewhere without live
migration, and some initial evidence to suggesting that the crashes may
be related to blk-mq, but not enough to say anything for certain.

Ziviani is currently doing some testing with upstream kernel. If that
still has issues then will move to testing potential KVM fixes but want
to rule out blk-mq first since the issue may not be specific to live
migration.

[Bug 1733461] Re: QLubuntu - Default File Format blanks and always comes up .png

2018-05-13 Thread Alf Gaida
The user config should work fine, once set to jpg - for the depth of the
problem just follow the debian bug: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=893809 - that will lead you to the relevant
upstream things.

To make it short: 1.97 will not be fixed unless someone stand up and
spend time on dead code. The upcoming screengrab release will fix the
most of the long standing issues, but not all - it is still work in
progress. But i'm dead sure that 18.10 will see a major overhauled
screengrab.

[Bug 1771040] [NEW] Bluetooth HFP/HSP profile doesn't work in 18.04

2018-05-13 Thread Christopher Berner
Public bug reported:

Hardware: Bose QC35 II

When selecting the A2DP Sink profile these headphones work fine.
However, with HSP/HFP selected neither the output nor the microphone
work. The headphones will periodically say "Call from" and then break
off, and also you can hear a low grade crackling like line noise in them
the rest of the time.

Potentially relevant logs:
dmesg (the second message is repeated frequently):
[ 68.288408] input: 2C:41:A1:80:A1:C4 as /devices/virtual/input/input21
[ 78.575027] Bluetooth: hci0: last event is not cmd complete (0x0f)

Originally, I got an error like the following from ("journalctl -u bluetooth"),
but then ran "rfkill unblock bluetooth" which seems to have fixed it:
May 13 15:58:02 skylake bluetoothd[1023]: Failed to set mode: Blocked through
rfkill (0x12)
May 13 15:58:19 skylake bluetoothd[1023]: Failed to set mode: Blocked through
rfkill (0x12)
May 13 16:00:41 skylake bluetoothd[1023]: Unable to get io data for Headset
Voice gateway: getpeername: Transport endpoint is not connected (107)
May 13 16:00:41 skylake bluetoothd[1023]: Unable to get io data for Phone Book
Access: getpeername: Transport endpoint is not connected (107)

What additional information would be useful to debug this?

[Bug 1771038] [NEW] Exiting noping cli command leaves terminal in a broken state

2018-05-13 Thread Marc D.
Public bug reported:

Exiting the noping command with ^C leaves the terminal in an odd state
where newline does not do anything. Starting "reset" brings the terminal
back to a sane state.

This seems to occur when one of the hosts to be pinged does not answer.
When this occurs, noping exits with the message:

ping_send failed: Interrupted system call

Thanks for your report!

It's really an upstream GNOME Help issue, and it would be great if you
could submit an upstream issue too:

2018-05-13 Thread Rumen
I use 18.04 / login session Xorg and had the same issue. Got help from
the IRC channel.

Workaround for me which actually works:

Alt+F2

Type "r" without the quotes

Hit "Enter"

The icons appears!

Regards all.

[Bug 1771033] [NEW] python3-avahi is missing in Ubuntu/debian

2018-05-13 Thread xekon
Public bug reported:

Under Ubuntu 18.04 if you install the package Gajim the local account is
permanently disabled because of missing dependencies.

https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/issues/9125

The required package is python3-avahi

The python3-avahi package is missing, apt-get is unable to find it.

This is a vital feature for us, we use Gajim internally without
internet, and this simply works, no adding accounts, no information or
messages sent over the internet, it all works locally.

I hope this package can be added, if this is the wrong place to file
