[Bug 1775131] [NEW] Ubuntu 18.04 networking issue (connection drops after approx. 15 minutes)
Public bug reported: I'm currently troubleshooting some network issues on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Bionic. After checking a few logs I noticed that the networkd-dispatcher is generating errors. I'm unsure if this is a bug but I'd like to report it over here just to be sure: ``` Jun 04 18:14:21 [servername] systemd-networkd-wait-online[2079]: managing: br2 Jun 04 18:14:22 [servername] networkd-dispatcher[1890]: WARNING:Unknown index 7 seen, reloading interface list Jun 04 18:14:23 [servername] networkd-dispatcher[1890]: WARNING:Unknown index 8 seen, reloading interface list Jun 04 18:14:23 [servername] networkd-dispatcher[1890]: ERROR:Unknown interface index 8 seen even after reload Jun 04 18:14:23 [servername] networkd-dispatcher[1890]: WARNING:Unknown index 8 seen, reloading interface list Jun 04 18:14:23 [servername] networkd-dispatcher[1890]: ERROR:Unknown interface index 8 seen even after reload ``` These issues occur consistently on several servers. The problem is that I lose the connection specifically towards the internet after approx. 15 minutes. Internal facing interfaces (same hardware and driver) seem to behave differently and remain properly connected to the internal network. These network-dispatcher errors seem to occur simultanously when the connection on the external interface permanently drops. The physical network links still appears to be online when the connection is lost. I'm still also able to ping the default gateway from my provider to access the Internet. But all IP addresses beyond this gateway on the Internet seem to be unreachable. I have disabled TCP offloading and firewalls to eliminate any influences. But that didn't work. The ARP table shows that my gateway is a STALE record after the connection drops. So it seems related to the ARP-table or something likewise. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - Ubuntu 18.04 networking issue (connection drop after approx. 15 minutes) + Ubuntu 18.04 networking issue (connection drops after approx. 15 minutes) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1775131 Title: Ubuntu 18.04 networking issue (connection drops after approx. 15 minutes) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1775131/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1418279] Re: Automount NFSv4 doesn't work
Hmmm, not sure what "privileged container" means. Most machines are on xenial now and use lxc.aa_profile = lxc-container-default-cgns-with-mounting if this is the question. This way mounting manually as well as automatically via automount works, but mounting something via the '-hosts' builtin map still does not work. [Bug 1775126] [NEW] Short freezes in Wayland session
Public bug reported: When using Wayland, I observe sub-second freezes a couple of times per minute. It just freezes the mouse and everything for a split second, and continues as if nothing happened. My laptop has a hybrid GPU, and dmesg is filled with vga_switcheroo messages [ 2640.943598] snd_hda_intel :01:00.1: Disabling via vga_switcheroo [ 2641.243870] snd_hda_intel :01:00.1: Cannot lock devices! [Bug 1775124] [NEW] static noise at login and after screen blanking
Public bug reported: At the login screen, and after screen blanking, there often (but not always) is loud static noise from the screen's speaker. In the login-screen, it stops after logging in. After turning the screen back on after blanking (my system settings have "Screen energy saving: Switch off after 10 min" set and "Suspend" disabled), there is the same static noise. One way I found to make is disappear is to invoke "pavucontrol". As soon as it opens, the noise is gone. Seems to me like some gain setting or the like is not properly (re)initialized after screen blanking. Strangely enough, pavucontrol seems to fix this by just starting, with no further user interaction. [Bug 1774569] Re: gsmartcontrol, hdparm, and ZFS all refuse to talk to an apparently working Seagate Backup+ Hub drive after upgrade to 18.04
It looks like the drive is replying with an ILLEGAL REQUEST/INVALID FIELD IN CDB error to all the interesting SCSI commands, and to pretty much anything hdparm sends it. I've also tried throwing sdparm at it. The only page sdparm can get out of it is the basic identification page: [anovak@octagon hdparm-9.54]$ sudo sdparm -i /dev/sdg /dev/sdg: Seagate Backup+ Hub BKD781 Device identification VPD page: Addressed logical unit: designator type: NAA, code set: Binary 0x5001 But this has convinced me that I am actually communicating with the disk itself. Is there any way the kernel/driver could be tinkering with the commands that hdparm used to send that worked and which now fail? [Bug 1774569] Re: gsmartcontrol, hdparm, and ZFS all refuse to talk to an apparently working Seagate Backup+ Hub drive after upgrade to 18.04
Even after rebooting with the drive for the zpool physically removed from the system, I still had a zpool I couldn't destroy, export, or otherwise remove from the listing. Using "sudo zpool status -Pv" I worked out that my ZFS was actually expecting to find the data on partition 1 of the drive: errors: No known data errors pool: hub state: UNAVAIL status: One or more devices could not be used because the label is missing or invalid. There are insufficient replicas for the pool to continue functioning. action: Destroy and re-create the pool from a backup source. see: http://zfsonlinux.org/msg/ZFS-8000-5E scan: none requested config: NAME STATE READ WRITE CKSUM hub UNAVAIL 0 0 0 insufficient replicas /dev/disk/by-id/ata-ST6000DM003-2CY186_ZF200PC8-part1 UNAVAIL 0 0 0 I'd previously tried symlinking the old device name to the new one, but I was inspired to try it with just the partition: [anovak@octagon ~]$ cd /dev/disk/by-id/ [anovak@octagon by-id]$ sudo ln -s 'usb-Seagate_Backup+_Hub_BK_NA8TQC87-0:0-part1' ata-ST6000DM003-2CY186_ZF200PC8-part1 When I did that, the pool immediately came back online, and I was able to export it to make it go away. Then I managed to import it under a more stable name with "sudo zpool import -a -d /dev/disk/by-partuuid/". I still can't see the drive data in gsmartcontrol, and I still can't spin it down, but at least I can now use it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1774569 Title: gsmartcontrol, hdparm, and ZFS all refuse to talk to an apparently working Seagate Backup+ Hub drive after upgrade to 18.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gsmartcontrol/+bug/1774569/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1748147] Re: [SRU] debhelper support override from /etc/tmpfiles.d for systemd
Hello sil2100. Sorry for making confusion. I describe it in detail. This patch changes tmpfile path from absolute path to filename(only). so, they now support override feature if we put tmpfile conf to /etc/tmpfiles.d/ but in this situation, we need to set same filename as /var/lib/tmpfiles.d/[something] for using override. For this override feature, debhelper need to be patched. and systemd need to be rebuilt. but even if systemd is not rebuit, it is working find as like before. For rsyslogd ( and pkg like this ), it copies 00rsyslogd.conf file to /var/lib/tmpfiles.d/ directly. it works until systemd restarting. when restarting systemd, it recall tmpfiles conf files only systemd has, so in this time 00rsyslogd.conf is ignored. Then /var/log's permission is changed back to 755 (need 775) so rsyslogd's 00rsyslogd.conf filename need to be changed to var.conf and target should be /etc/tmpfiles.d/ instead of /var/lib/tmpfiles.d/ even if rsyslogd(or pkg like this ) is not patched, it works with current issue ( as this LP ). Please let me know if you have anything. I'll update description based on this comment if you are fine with this. [Bug 1774865] Re: 4.15.0-22 won't boot on Dell XPS 15 9570
Thanks! Leaving some notes in case someone else runs into this and finds this page. I was having some problems with bumblebee (installation would hang, then the whole system would freeze when trying to reboot), and I think that broke something. I assumed it was the kernel because it was the first time booting that version and it seemed like a very serious error that happened very early in the boot process. [Bug 1748147] Re: [SRU] debhelper support override from /etc/tmpfiles.d for systemd
** Description changed: [Impact] /var/log's Permission is going back to 755 after upgrading systemd if there are rsyslog's configuration on /var/lib/tmpfiles.d/ Affected X, A, B, C This is because rsyslog's pkg has 00rsyslog.conf and copied it on /var/lib/tmpfiles.d/ when it is installing. after upgrading systemd, systemd only refresh it's own tmpfiles so disappear conf for 00rsyslog.conf ( it doesn't remove file itself ) so, systemd-tmpfiles --create /var/lib/tmpfiles.d/00rsyslog.conf back permission to 775 [Test Case] 1. deploy 16.04 vm 2. check ll /var (775) 3. apt install --reinstall systemd 4. check ll /var (755) [Regression Potential] - This fix changes debhelper's override process by using absolute path to filename. so if the other pkgs using debhelper e.g systemd are there, It should be re-build with new debhelper after patching. also, pkg like rsyslog which is using systemd's tmpfile system need to be changed to use /etc/tmpfiles.d/[SAME_FILENAME_IN_VAR_LIB_TMPFILES.D_FOR_OVERRIDING] instead of 00rsyslog.conf. + This fix changes debhelper's override process by using absolute path to filename. so if the other pkgs using debhelper e.g systemd are there, It should be re-build with new debhelper after patching in theory, now only systemd is affected. but building is not affected. also, pkg like rsyslog which is using systemd's tmpfile system need to be changed to use /etc/tmpfiles.d/[SAME_FILENAME_IN_VAR_LIB_TMPFILES.D_FOR_OVERRIDING] instead of 00rsyslog.conf. [Others] For this issue, need to fix below pkgs debhelper systemd ( rebuilding with new debhelper is needed ) rsyslog ( 00rsyslog.conf to var.conf and location should be /etc/tmpfiles.d, to support override supported by debhelper ) [Original description] Upgrading or reinstalling the systemd package when using rsyslogd results in bad permissions (0755 instead of 0775) being set on /var/log/. As a consequence of this, rsyslogd can no longer create new files within this directory, resulting in lost log messages. The default configuration of rsyslogd provided by Ubuntu runs the daemon as syslog:syslog and sets ownership of /var/log to syslog:adm with mode 0775. Systemd's default tmpfiles configuration sets /var/log to 0755 in /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/var.conf, however this is overridden in /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/00rsyslog.conf which is provided by package rsyslog. It looks as though an upgrade of the systemd package fails to take /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/00rsyslog.conf into account, as demonstrated below. This results in /var/log receiving mode 0755 instead of the expected 0775: nick @ log2.be1.ams1:~ $ lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. [Bug 1775086] Re: cloud-init fails to recognize scaleway
Marking as not a bug as it feels like the resolution really needs to be on the Scaleway platform with this script. Please feel free to re-open this bug if you disagree. I may have misunderstood the intent. Also, if scw-generate-network-config is in use on artful, bionic or cosmic, it'll need to be updated to use netwplan configuration unless ifupdown is installed in your cloud images because netplan.io is the new default in ubuntu cloud images. ** Changed in: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1775086 Title: cloud-init fails to recognize scaleway To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/1775086/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1775086] Re: cloud-init fails to recognize scaleway
This unit is generating network config which I thought would be owned solely by cloud-init. Cloudinit should be generating a fallback network configuration, which sets up dhcp on the primary nic (eth0/enp0s2 etc). First you'll need to resolve the ordering cycle conflict with cloud- init.service and the scw-generate-net-config unit. Then, there is a bit of tension between cloud-init managing network config and scw-generate- net-config as that script blows away the cloud-init fallback network configuration. One alternative for cloud-init enabled images would be to only allow scw-generate-net-config to generate dhcp configs for devices != . The other could be to disable cloud-init's network configuration altogether via http://cloudinit.readthedocs.io/en/latest/topics/network-config.html #disabling-network-configuration. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1775086 Title: cloud-init fails to recognize scaleway To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/1775086/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1774915] Re: Video lag when using totem (audio does not lag)
OK, so I went into the BIOS settings for the machine, and the only options for the video configuration is to set video switching to either dynamic or fixed. Dynamic (which was selected) allows the system to switch between the video card "on demand", while fixed (which is now selected) requires the OS or the user to manually switch between video cards. After setting the video configuration to fixed, I booted into Ubuntu and retried the mpv test with your video. I noticed only one brief lag (too fast to even let me try doing top or dmesg). Here is the output from mpv, which shows only a single dropped frame (which would be unnoticable for most people watching a video): tracy@tracy-hp:/mnt/VM$ mpv bbb_sunflower_1080p_60fps_normal.mp4 Playing: bbb_sunflower_1080p_60fps_normal.mp4 (+) Video --vid=1 (*) (h264 1920x1080 60.000fps) (+) Audio --aid=1 --alang=und (*) (mp3 2ch 48000Hz) Audio --aid=2 --alang=und (*) (ac3 6ch 48000Hz) File tags: Artist: Blender Foundation 2008, Janus Bager Kristensen 2013 Comment: Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 - http://bbb3d.renderfarming.net Composer: Sacha Goedegebure Genre: Animation Title: Big Buck Bunny, Sunflower version AO: [pulse] 48000Hz stereo 2ch s16 Using hardware decoding (vaapi). (End of file) tracy@tracy-hp:/mnt/VM$ So, at this point, it looks like the dynamic switching was the basic problem. However, of interest to me is why this didn't present in earlier versions (I have run 16.04, 17.04, and 17.10 (Wayland), none of which exhibited this problem). So, given this, is there something specific that you want in the way of system information, or are we going to write this off to a (relatively minor) BIOS incompatibility with something introduced in 18.04? Thanks Manoj & Bob - I'll take a look at sponsoring your upload. Do you mind filing a bug in Debian as well, and linking that bug to this one using "Also affects distribution/package"? *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1744599 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1744599 Turns out there was another bug about this issue, and it was fixed in bionic: docker.io (17.03.2-0ubuntu2) bionic; urgency=medium * Replace "--no-restart-on-upgrade" with "--no-start" and a debconf prompt - not restarting Docker causes many issues (LP: #1658691) - suggested methods for keeping containers up are to use a restart policy ("--restart=..." on "docker run"), Swarm Mode services, or rolling replacement of k8s workers * Backport 30519 for bashism (LP: #1744599) Xenial and Artful are still affected. ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1744599 package docker.io (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-removal script returned error exit status 127 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1724353 Title: cannot purge docker.io due to a bashism in nuke-graph-directory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/docker.io/+bug/1724353/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
