I did tests using Discord and when I got closer to my laptop's internal mic, my voice was louder as my friends reported. I could see on some graphs like pavucontrol's that it was the case. [Bug 1768976] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 is overheating after upgrade from 16.04
If we can confirm thermald is not the culprit, we can do a kernel bisection to find the regression commit. First, find the last good -rc kernel and the first bad -rc kernel from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ Then, $ sudo apt build-dep linux $ git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git $ cd linux $ git bisect start $ git bisect good $(the good version you found) $ git bisect bad $(the bad version found) $ make localmodconfig $ make -j`nproc` deb-pkg Install the newly built kernel, then reboot with it. If the issue still happens, $ git bisect bad Otherwise, $ git bisect good Repeat to "make -j`nproc` deb-pkg" until you find the commit that causes the regression. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1768976 Title: Ubuntu 18.04 is overheating after upgrade from 16.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1768976/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Since 2017 until now (2019) For EPSON's website provides Linux packages for scanners and printers as (.deb, .rpm, or source) which are simple to install. In two steps (if you have it on the network). Step 1. Go to EPSON Driver and Software Download Center (http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/search/01/search/) Download and unpack the scanner driver (Image Scan, currently version 1.3.40) imagescan-bundle-linuxmint-19-1.3.40.x64.deb.tar.gz Then, run ./install.sh sudo ./install.sh Step 2. (for a newtork scanner) Edit the file /etc/sane.d/epson2.conf Modify the line net 192.168.xxx.yyy (to match your scanner IP) That's it. [Bug 1810168] [NEW] Move the Keyboard repeat settings back to the Keyboard settings
Public bug reported: I've just installed Ubuntu 18.04 and wanted to set the keyboard repeat delay and speed. So I type "Keyboard", hoping to land in the same place I would on Ubuntu 16, but the Keyboard settings in 18 only have shortcuts. Huh? I had to Google "how to set the keyboard repeat rate Ubuntu 18", which is already a big red flag. I'm sure there was a reason for that setting to be moved under "Universal Access", but was there a user acceptance test? Maybe it makes some logical or architectural sense to have Keyboard Repeat Settings under "Universal Access", but to me and to many other users[1] it makes no sense at all. To quote one user: "Great UI design. Why would you put keyboard settings in Settings->Keyboard? Haha that'd be stupid! We should hide them in accessibility under what looks like a toggle-button but isn't instead... Edit: Speed is backwards? Oh my god someone *designed* this??" [Bug 1800043] Re: nautilus cannot write on nfs file share
As for the command line: copying and deleting works with the usual cp/rm commands and also with the gio tool (gio copy/gio remove). However, it doesn't work with nautilus. The nautilus UI simply doesn't let me place the icon of the desired file into the root window. It "flies" back to where it came from. Thus, it behaves exactly as you would expect from a read-only file system. BTW: copying _from_ the root system with nautilus also works correctly. And, again, once I go into one of my folders - everything works as usual. For now I decided to mount my share with CIFS - which also works as desired. [Bug 1690085]
Hi, I have an ASUS A320M-K with latest BIOS 4027 (AGESA 1.0.0.6), Ryzen 7 2700, Patriot Viper RGB 16GB RAM 3200CL16, Samsung 830 SSD 128GB, Corsair AX860 860W PSU (80+ Platinum) and ASUS ROG Strix RX480 8GB. Running Arch Linux w/ Kernel 4.19.12 and GNOME 3.30 on Wayland. BIOS configured to Defaults + XMP Profile activated + CSM disabled (-> UEFI- only mode). I have experienced 2 hangs with this system, both within 1 hour uptime. However, I couldn't spot anything in the logs. There were no watchdog entries, unlike previously posted in this bug report. The "system lockup" expresses itself by blanking my screen to dark and showing a blinking cursor in the top left corner. No other symbols / information. I can't interact in any way with my system - it ignores all inputs; can't switch console, doesn't react to single power button press, nothing. Only way to shutdown is holding power button for 4s. I entered the BIOS after the lockups and noticed *VERY* slow performance within BIOS. Keypresses took very long to register (like 5+ seconds) until BIOS eventually hung. After another powercycle, all was good again. I wonder, if rebooting using the reset button could give us more clues, if the system continues to run "buggy" after the reset. After setting "Typical Current Idle", I didn't had a single lockup ever since, even after 48h uptime, mostly idling. System runs perfectly good. This fix is fine for desktops, but laptops suffer from higher power draw, if they're able to set this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1690085 Title: Ryzen 1800X freeze - rcu_sched detected stalls on CPUs/tasks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1690085/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
