[Bug 1816352] Re: firefox-window on dvi0 (display0) fullscreen on exit jumps to dvi1 (other display)

2019-02-17 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Could you try if that's an issue also on Ubuntu/GNOME? Could be a
problem in your desktop environment rather than firefox (especially if
other software do have the issue)

It sounds like there might be a mismatch between one component playing

[Bug 1816352] Re: firefox-window on dvi0 (display0) fullscreen on exit jumps to dvi1 (other display)

2019-02-17 Thread Chris Guiver
please note: I've got a number of OPEN bugs relating to windows that
MOVE/WARP around the screen when I do things... For example

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pcmanfm-qt/+bug/1804329
"lubuntu 19.04 daily - pcmanfm-qt (dolphin..) moves window position on opening
device, folders or adjust size of windows (when on 2nd display only with
vertical placement)"

If I boot the LIVE media & don't change the screen
preferences->LXQTsettings->MonitorSettings to something different, the
issues do NOT arise (usually, I was trying to test this here as you'll
see in QA-TEST comments, but the portrait-display settings instead of
default landscape made me feel a little 'queezy' & I gave up that
testing & just changed monitor-settings to reflect my screen setup.

[Bug 1807722] Re: ImageMagick without rsvg Support

2019-02-17 Thread Mark Roeling
I second this request. Even the official SVG logo can not be converted properly
with only MSVG support. It needs RSVG.
Building from source would work, but is not an option in an automated
environment.

[Bug 1816352] [NEW] firefox-window on dvi0 (display0) fullscreen on exit jumps to dvi1 (other display)

2019-02-17 Thread Chris Guiver
Public bug reported:

Lubuntu 19.04 QA-Test of daily (LIVE

dell optiplex 755(c2d e8300, 8gb, radeon HD 2400 pro/xt; driver=radeon)
two dell monitors, dvi-0 [as named in monitor-settings] is landscape & left,
dvi-1 [as named in monitor-settings] is rotated "left" or in portrait mode &
positioned to right

as part of QA-test, I use firefox to stream a utube vid, firefox opened
on dvi-1 display so I did it first there, watching vid in window,
pressing to watch briefly in that mode, then fullscreen. When I
exit fullscreen the firefox window returns to the way it was before I
hit f11

I moved window to DVI-0 or left-display with video still streaming, hit
& watched briefly, then hit fullscreen & watched again briefly.
All was great, then exited fullscreen (same if I hit or click the
exit-fullscreen icon) - at this point the window zooms to a maximized
state of DVI-1

It only seemed to do this when the firefox window was maximized on
DVI-0, if I shrunk the firefox-window to use less than full-display
before hitting 'fullscreen' or 'f', it returned to prior-case and just
exited the video fullscreen display.

This issue is cosmetic, operation did not stop working at any point, and
it just required me to re-drag my window to my desired display.

(If i noticed this before (I believe I have), I may not have recorded
bug, just noted it on QA-test comments)

[Bug 1765660] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 [ briggs ]: "ipcs" command fails with error "invalid structure member offset" in crash prompt.

2019-02-17 Thread Andy Whitcroft
Hello bugproxy, or anyone else affected,

Accepted crash into bionic-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/crash/7.2.1-1ubuntu2
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1771943] Re: nautilus accessing samba shares doesn't use cached credentials

2019-02-17 Thread piviul
BINGO!

I have downloaded the packages you provided me in https://launchpad.net
/~ubuntu-desktop/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+build/16391488, installed them and
now nautilus (gvfs) use, as expected, cached credential to access to
samba shares and doesn't ask for a password.

Thank you very much Sebastien!

...but now do you think these patched gvs packages will be available to
the official ubuntu 18.04 repositories?

[Bug 1575053] Re: Please move the "$HOME/snap" directory to a less obtrusive location

2019-02-17 Thread Yasin Zaehringer
Hi all,

I see the reasoning behind #40, it is about having an isolated interface
between snaps and the normal world. But making the directory
configurable shouldn't pose a problem at all. My favorite long term
solution is that the folder lives somewhere else (maybe
/snap/interchange//) similar to /media and file managers have a
shortcut in the side bar.

Best,
Yasin

[Bug 1813471]

2019-02-17 Thread Joncfoo
I've experienced this same crash with Thunderbird 60.5.1 from the
mozilla team's ppa on Ubuntu 18.10.

In my case, I had to first add a mail account and when autoconfiguration
was complete and I hit done/continue thunderbird crashes. Any
subsequent launches result in a crash until the cache+profile is removed
(I'm not sure if removing both is necessary but it works).

un-setting GTK_USE_PORTAL and then launching thunderbird seems to work
(no more crashes).

apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

  19.04,kern 4.19.0-13
just took update and now does not recognize soundcard or something plugged in
to headphones jack. pulled bug. Now if I unplug headphones and plug back in, it
wakes up and recognizes it and works fine. I thought I had this prob a few days
ago and restored back to the 10th, and updated all but alsa and worked fine.
This morning I checked and a bunch of alsa stuff was no longer showing in
updates, took everything, and worked fine. Just took updates (Software
Updater), and checked speakers and no go. When this happened, it also would not
allow sound to HDTV via HDMI, no matter what. Just tested and was able to get
sound via hdmi, but remember, I have already "woken it up" by unplugging and
plugging headphones (actually sony vaio computer speakers)
  ThinkPad T530-2394-3J8, i5-3380M 2.9GHz, Dual boot (BIOS/MBR): Grub, Ubuntu

I expected sound to recognize soundcard/speakers. It did not until I
  unplug/replug headphones.

[Bug 1816319] Re: package shim-signed 1.33.1~14.04.4+13-0ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script was killed by signal (Killed)

2019-02-17 Thread Steve Langasek
I'm sorry to tell you that this wasn't an infinite loop, it was going
through the process of generating signed kernel module files for each of
the kernel versions you have installed and you have a LOT of kernel
versions installed. You might want to try running 'sudo apt autoremove
--purge' to remove the older unused kernels, since they waste space on
your system and slow down all upgrades of bootloader packages.

Be sure to check the output of this command before saying 'Y', to ensure
only the packages you expect to remove are being removed.

[Bug 1816301] Re: problème logiciel détecté

2019-02-17 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 1815939] Re: Upgrade to HWE stack fails in make of spl module (zfs)

2019-02-17 Thread BertN45
I have done a fresh install from Xubuntu 18.04.2 and did notice it was
using zfs 0.7.9 with Linux 4.18. So probably you have to add those to
the upgrade of the HWE stack.

[Bug 1816240] Re: Impossible to boot 18.04.2 from btrfs

2019-02-17 Thread BertN45
WRAP UP

First my mistake:
I found a work-around. My 2008 HP dc5850 allows me to boot from the first disk
of the internal SATA-2 controller or from a SATA-3 PCIe card, I have added for
the SSD. I did boot in the BIOS from the SSD, but did forget all about it and
assumed during the installation of Xubuntu with btrfs, that I was still booting
from sda. That is where everything started to go wrong, since grub (SSD) still
expected the previous ext4 system on that newly installed partition.

Second the remaining bug in update-grub.
I booted in the main system again and did run update-grub. Update-grub did not
detect the btrfs system and left it out from the list of bootable system. So in
my mind there was no way I could boot that just installed system and that
resulted in this bug-report.

I'm lucky with the separate SATA-3 controller, because I can boot both
systems, but I have to select the btrfs system from the BIOS after any
update of one my three ext4 systems. During 'normal' operation I have to
select the boot entry for my main system manually. So it is important,
that update-grub is corrected for those people with a BIOS without drive
choice.

[Bug 1807665] Re: lubuntu 19.04 qa-test daily x86 live -- screensaver hiding only laptop display (not external monitor)

2019-02-17 Thread Chris Guiver
2019-02-17 19:30 QA-Test Lubuntu 19.04 daily (live) x86_64

// this [screensaver] issue occurs on my installed system too (Lubuntu only,
not when logged in via XFCE/Xubuntu; I rarely use GNOME/Ubuntu..)

went and changed screensaver to 1 min, m6502 selected & wait... screen dims

dell d610 laptop, but with external monitor attached.

left alone, xscreensaver takes effect hiding laptop display, but
external monitor does not get blanked, and its display does not change
(so information on it could be read by others etc). expectation would
be when 'lock' occurs display would be blanked, or hidden by
  xscreensaver output too.

this could be because it's running in 'live' mode (no locker running?), so
importance is likely 0%.
i have NOT noticed it on an installed system, but I checked thumb-drive-media
integrity (pass) and rebooted & same result (has occurred 3x on same machine
now over two boots, but same thumb-drive)

random devices, folders, minimize, maximize
firefox (ublock origin, stream utube as window, f11, fullscreen on each
monitor, maximize, minimize etc)
searching for an starting some music (dc7700 where I log this has poor speakers
& it's annoying me), found some so `vlc` will be playing music from now on

// then adjust displays to my vertical placement & re-do what I just did...
// note: possibly typos on this system, I'm having issues with this model.m kbd
browser & this dc7700 running ubu 14.04 (installed) that I normally don't have,
so apologies for any strange things..

ZERO issues at this point on either screen, everything performs perfectly (as
expected).
Closed pcmanfm-qt & firefox (vlc still running for background music)
Now change orientation of displays,
pref->lxqtsett->monitor.settings_set.position
DVI-1 is setup directly BELOW DVI-0 (my real setup has slight horizontal diff,
but that creates more issues I now ignore for qa-testing; vertical arrangement
is simpler to replicate)
drag VLC so it's full onscreen (only left part was visible - ignoring this)..

pcmanfm-qt is perfect on top (dvi0) screen, selecting different folders or
devices has no issue, selecting menus display as expected.. move it to dvd1
(bottom display) and warps/moves around screen partially obscured by panel &
part on display0, part on display1 -
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pcmanfm-qt/+bug/1804329 &
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pcmanfm-qt/+bug/1812342
if i maximize pcmanfm-qt (dvi1, was good on dvi0) it goes full width but is
only using ~2cm of display & so it useless
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxqt-session/+bug/1809201 .. on
minimize I get https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pcmanfm-qt/+bug/1804329

This is my USED system, and yet don't suffer this. Yes my system is
hugely modified (xubuntu & ubuntu are installed, lots of apps, lots of
changes but mostly to xfce)...

..
opened qterminal (ctrl+alt+T) and maximized, fine on dvi0, but fullwidth & no
only top panel (no black area visible on maximized
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxqt-session/+bug/1809201)
..

i changed display orientation back to what it booted as (DVI0 on left, DVI1
just to right) and all maximize, minimize, menu showing & usable, etc issues
were solved... it relates only to monitor.position and most people will have
left-right I bet.
..

// note: primary bug mentions FIREFOX, but many programs do the same,
eg. Qterminal

** Summary changed:

- lubuntu 19.04 two displays, firefox maximized uses only part of 2nd display

+ 19.04 daily image QA testing x86 & x86_64
+
+ Added additional info:
+ this bug was originally discovered on x86 & concentrates on firefox. It
occurs on other programs/windows (eg. qterminal, pcmanfm-qt) and occurs on
other systems (hp 8200 x86_64 qa-test, d980 x86_64 test & more...)
+ BIG NOTE: on original x86 dell latitude d610 the monitors were left-right
configuration, on x86_64 it only occurs (more recently) on a vertical
configuration; maybe a different issue, but the effect [from my [user]
perspective] is the same...
+ --- end additional added info.

dell d610 laptop, with external vga monitor setup as display-to-right of
laptop
(vga external has higher resolution than internal laptop display)

firefox on laptop monitor maximizes as expected.

when firefox window is on external monitor, it uses all the width, but
only 2/3rds of vertical landscape of display, where I'd expect/hope it
  would use all of display.

// i've noted this before, but I didn't see lp bug report, sorry if duplicate
// but could also be just in notes in qa-testing comments

attached screen shows firefox window was drawn to height of htop window

[Bug 1816283] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 ISO downloaded2019-02-16 Failed to remove a part of itself,

2019-02-17 Thread L. P. Luigi Espenlaub
Went to
https://tutorials.ubuntu.com/tutorial/tutorial-how-to-verify-ubuntu#3
to check the ISO check-sum to see if the download was corrupted
or if
I had burned it to a faulty DVD.
However I could find no workable answer to this question.

how to download SHA256SUMS from http://releases.ubuntu.com/bionic/?

Seems the most simple question, however all I get at Ask.Ubuntu, stack
exchange and gethub is theory others problems and complications.

http://releases.ubuntu.com/bionic/ does not offer a copy or download option
for the files.
Other click on the file and all I get in Firefox is link choices. I have been
warned in one of those sources that copying and pasting contents into a file I
create will fowl up the process.

Not being able to successfully download the SHA256SUMS means I only
receive the following when attempting to confirm validity of the ISO

gpg: can't open `SHA256SUMS.gpg'
gpg: verify signatures failed: file open error

All I can do is possibly waste another DVD downloading a valid? ISO with
a bug in it, in doing a new download, but that is the only course I see
for now with the gpg check-sums kerfuffle at:

https://github.com/canonical-websites/tutorials.ubuntu.com/issues/new
and
https://github.com/canonical-websites/tutorials.ubuntu.com/issues/790

Will update with the results of a new ISO and DVD install.

[Bug 1816326] [NEW] package 389-ds-base 1.3.7.10-1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2019-02-17 Thread Florian Beckmann
Public bug reported:

Similar to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/389-ds-base/+bug/1437709
I tried to upgrade Kolab on Ubuntu 18.04/bionic (but on armhf platform) and
post-install for 389-ds-base fails.

ProblemType: Package
Architecture: armhf
Date: Sun Feb 17 23:11:26 2019
Package: 389-ds-base 1.3.7.10-1ubuntu1
SourcePackage: 389-ds-base
ErrorMessage:
installed 389-ds-base package post-installation script subprocess returned
error exit status 1

Having a closer look at /var/lib/dpkg/info/389-ds-base.postinst it's clear
(after adding some echo debug statements) that the line

setup-ds -l $OUT -u -s General.UpdateMode=offline > $OUT 2>&1

fails and invoking it manually produces same errors as shown here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1529442

It also shows in /var/log/dirsrv/slapd-myInstance/errors - not sure if
relevant, bug report above says it's from trying to start up the
instance:

Since this should be fixed some time ago I was wondering if the fix is
already included in this version.

[Bug 1391717] Re: Parse LaTeX formulas

2019-02-17 Thread Michael Gratton
Hi, thanks for the feature request. This would be cool to have, but
since there isn't likely to be too many people using it, it would an
ideal candidate for a plugin for the composer. If you'd like to help
working on adding support for plugins, there ticket for that is here:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/geary/issues/155

In general, Geary tracks issues like this over at GNOME's GitLab
instance, so you'll probably get a faster response posting there. :)

[Bug 1811755] Re: X1 Extreme: only one of the two SSDs is loaded

2019-02-17 Thread Tim Penhey
It seems my install was missing the linux-generic package. After
installing that I was able to get linux-generic 4.15.0.46.48 from
bionic-proposed.

Installing this removed the windows boot option from my grub config.

Rebooting 12 times, 10 times were good, twice I got dumped into
initramfs. Photo attached.

[Bug 1015819] Re: sb_sasl_generic_pkt_length: received illegal packet length when using Active Directory and ldapsearch and sasl with ssl or tls

2019-02-17 Thread Andrey Arapov via ubuntu-bugs
Thank you, Johnny Westerlund!
At least adding "sasl_secprops minssf=0,maxssf=0" to /etc/openldap/ldap.conf
works around the error, so things seem to work for me.

Not sure whether it is different now for Michael Osipov.
