[Bug 1818239] Re: scheduler: build failure high negative weighting
Reviewed: https://review.openstack.org/640698 Committed: https://git.openstack.org/cgit/openstack/charm-nova-cloud-controller/commit/?id=c5029e9831ab5063485877213987d6827c4d86f1 Submitter: Zuul Branch:master commit c5029e9831ab5063485877213987d6827c4d86f1 Author: James Page Date: Mon Mar 4 09:25:46 2019 + Disable BuildFailureWeigher Disable the BuildFailureWeigher used when weighting hosts during instance scheduling. A single build failure will result in a -100 weighting which effectively excludes the hypervisor from the scheduling decision. A bad image can result in build failures resulting in a heavy load on hypervisors which have not had a build failure with those that have effectively being ignored; the build failure count will be reset on a successful build but due to the high weighting this won't happen until all resources on known good hypervisors have been completely consumed. [Bug 1775717] Re: CPU/GPU Fans suddenly go 100% RPM on Asus ROG G752VT
I had that problem with my Asus UX510UX and Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and 18.04 - shorly after starting/resuming the laptop, the fans would start running on full speed and never stop. Interestingly, thereat were periods, during which the problem disappeared. I tried everthing I could think of (NVIDIA/Noeiveau drivers, upgradng kernel, installing various tools) without any success. Then I figured out that removing the battery of the laptop for several minutes solves the problem (it is built-in, so you need to open the case). [Bug 1793715] Re: VMWare Guest OS Customization will fail for Ubuntu 18.04 Server LiveCD
Thanks for the info Pengpeng. The problem with that is that it will make cloud-init rather late. Currently (this is the latest state after many fixup for just those reasons of being too early/too late): Note: Disambiguation of service names used below: vgauth - open-vm-tools.vgauth.service vmtoolsd - open-vm-tools.service fs - systemd-remount-fs.service tmp - systemd-tmpfiles-setup.service cloud-init-l - cloud-init-local.service cloud-init - cloud-init.service fs -> vmtoolsd -> cloud-init-l ^ tmp --| vgauth --| apparmor--| The problem is that all those services are meant to be super early and therefore have DefaultDependencies=No. Dbus on the other hand is not that super early and adding After=dbus.service Would move it way back in the initialization order which also you don't wan't AFAIK (bug 1667831 to have open-vm-tools before cloud-init-local was by Sankar from VMWare). To be sure about it let me ask two questions: - are your scripts triggered by cloud init - if so in which config module/phase as I'm sure I have done cloud-init driven hostname changed? - OR are your scripts triggered by open-vm-tools directly? @cloud-init Team: - if we'd end up to make open-vm-tools after dbus.service that would move cloud-init-local.service much later, could you outline the problems with that OR if you are ok with it state so? Furthermore lets talk in the call today to make sure we are on the same page for this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1793715 Title: VMWare Guest OS Customization will fail for Ubuntu 18.04 Server LiveCD To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/1793715/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1782207] Re: KVM SnowRidge Processor Trace v4
** Description changed: The PEBS(Processor Event Based Sampling) facility allows software to profile workload behavior by periodically capturing machine state, memory access information and other groups of architectural information. In native systems, PEBS uses a debug store mechanism to store a set of architectural state information for the processor and we need to specify a linear pages for the output buffer which must be pinned to physical pages. In virtualized systems, pinning the platform physical pages for the output buffer is difficult. PT V4 provide a method to format PEBS sampling data to new type of trace packet and output to Intel Processor Trace buffer. This depend on PT-VMX(Enabling use of EPT to redirect PT output)which enabled in ICX platform. Need modify in KVM and Qemu. Intel Processor Trace v4 task list: ◾PT VMX which is done and in upstream phase, and need more review and update effort ◾PEBS via PT on SNR. Adaptive PEBS (Processor Event Based Sampling) is configurable PEBS records for only interested data collection from massive PEBS data. It depends on PEBS via PT. Thanks for clearing up that misconception, Daniel (at least for me; I thought there was at least a sizable team employed by Canonical). I'll be happy to run these versions and do some testing. I'll looking forward to 19.04/19.10, so I'll see how they are in their current state and report any bugs I find. [Regression potential] Given that this just changes the return type of a function only used in calls, and the code compiles, there should be no possibility for a regression. [Bug 1767648] Re: Top bar and shell dialogs are not displayed properly when zoom is enabled
Short of predicting the future, I think the best answer is that more keen Ubuntu users should test the next version of Ubuntu before its release.
