[Bug 1874972] [NEW] Nautilus search in file names shows results from full text search

2020-04-24 Thread Andreas Tsourouflis
Public bug reported:

Nautilus full text search works fine. However, a search in file names
brings the same results as in full text search. The only difference is
that, in the file name mode, no text is shown beside the file name.

[Bug 1874973] [NEW] New, never-ending chromium.launcher process on every chromium start since [Focal 20.04/Snap] due to check_current_symlink()

2020-04-24 Thread Benjamin Schmid
Public bug reported:

Since my upgrade from 19.10 to 20.04 on every start a _new_
/snap/chromium/[digit]/bin/chromium.launcher instance is launched and
never-ending. It spawns a "sleep 60" child process.

Five time starting (and stopping!) chromium = 5 processes

2823981 ?S 0:00 \_ /bin/sh
/snap/chromium/1119/bin/chromium.launcher
2832707 ?S 0:00 | \_ sleep 60

/snap/chromium/1119/bin/chromium.launcher

[Bug 1849426] Re: Daily Limit Exceeded error for Google calendar

2020-04-24 Thread Mike Graves
Problem exists only when email accounts are set up using the settings
feature and adding online accounts. If you add the email accounts
(Gmail) through the Evolution application then there is no problem. I
suspect the problem is with Gnome's online accounts through settings -
not Evolution's mail product. Hopefully this points you in the right
direction.

[Bug 1874964] [NEW] Secondary display in portrait mode renders incorrectly

2020-04-24 Thread Jeff Lyon
Public bug reported:

Using the Ubuntu 20.04 settings app to setup multiple monitors creates
broken xrandr settings. Using the app to set a 3840x2160 primary monitor
in Landscape and 1920x1080 in Right Portrait, the primary monitor ends
up with a "virtual resolution" of 4680x2160 which creates a horizontal
panning effect at the monitor boundary and pushes the secondary
monitor's content far off to the side.

Running xrandr shows the following (truncated for readability -
screenshot attached)

Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 5760 x 2160, maximum 32767 x 32767
DVI-D-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DP-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DP-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DP-2 connected 1080x1920+3840+0 left (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
527mm x 296mm panning 1920x1920+3840+0 tracking 5760x2160+0+0 border 0/0/0/0
   1920x1080 60.00 + 60.00* 59.9450.0023.98
   ...
DP-3 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DP-4 connected primary 3840x2160+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
697mm x 392mm panning 4680x2160+0+0 tracking 5760x2160+0+0 border 0/0/0/0

The correct result for DP-4 would be 3840x2160. I will set this manually
but wanted to report the problem.

[Bug 1874959] [NEW] An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

2020-04-24 Thread Theotyflos theotyflos

This was likely caused by:

command 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal. If
you want to investigate this yourself the log files in

[Bug 1874956] [NEW] Window does not fit my screen

2020-04-24 Thread Drew Howden
Public bug reported:

I am using a laptop with a 15.6" screen. When I open Flowblade, the
window fills up the screen, but part of the bottom goes off the screen,
hiding the scroll bar.

To reproduce this, just run Flowblade on a system with a 15.6" monitor.
The window that opens up should fit the screen. Instead part of the
bottom goes off the screen, hiding the scroll bar.

[Bug 1874948] Re: xfce4-appfinder goes blank after editing a menu entry with menulibre

2020-04-24 Thread Marco
New Testcase:
- Kill xfce4-appfinder
- Open xfce4-appfinder using the terminal
- Type `menulibre` and open it
- Toggle `Hide from menus` in Web Browser entry and save the changes
- Following error it's printed

** Description changed:

Launching xfce4-appfinder after editing a menu entry with menulibre
makes xfce4-appfinder unable to search applications.

- This only happens when `Keep running instance in the background` is
- enabled in xfce4-appfinder settings.
+ This only happens when `Keep running instance in the background` and

  Testcase:
  - Set `Keep running instance in the background` inside xfce4-appfinder
settings
  - Launch xfce4-appfinder (META+R)
  - Type `menulibre` and open `Menu Editor`
  - Toggle `Hide from menus` in Web Browser entry and save the changes
  - Close menulibre
  - Launch xfce4-appfinder (META+R)

  Expected:
  - Typing in xfce4-appfinder finds an application

  Actual:
  - xfce4-appfinder app list is blank and typing doesn't match anything

This can be fixed by unchecking `Keep running instance in the

[Bug 1874950] [NEW] Steam is shown on Gnome as being "unknown" without any icon, even though the steam launcher is simply downloading an update and the icon appears on previous versions of Ubuntu

2020-04-24 Thread Seija Kijin

only showed "Unknown" as the title, even though the window is titled
"steam".

[Bug 1872366] Re: ubuntu forcal-desktop-amd64 could not install to geforce 8600GTI PC

2020-04-24 Thread Seiichi Nakashima
Dear everyone.

I download ubuntu-20.04-desktop-amd64.iso,
I make USB boot disk for ubuntu-20.04 install,
I boot up USB then I install ubuntu-20.04 successfully.

Before today, I fail to install ubuntu-20.04,
installer ask me that disk setup step.
because I use grub iso boot from /dev/sdb iso file.

The installer has detected that the following disks have mounted
partitions:

/dev/sdb/

Do you want the installer to try and unmount the partitions on these disks
before continuing? If you leave them mounted, you will not be able to create,
delete, or resize partitions on these disks, but you may be able to install
to existing partitions there.

I answer NO, ubuntu-18.04 can install /dev/sda1 from /dev/sdb1 iso.
but I think ubuntu-20.04, this step may be wrong.

[Bug 1863434] Re: 20.04 grub menu not visible

2020-04-24 Thread Igor Alexandre Dutra e Soçva
I am having this issue too. I have a Dell Vostro 5470 notebook, i5-4210U
processor, 8GiB DDR3 RAM, 480GB SSD and a GeForce GT 740M. I have a dual
boot instalation alongside Windows 10. After installing Ubuntu 20.04,
after the POST screen, all that is shown is a blank screen with a cursor
(not blinking) and, after a while, Ubuntu is loaded. Using the arrow
keys I am able to select another option, but I can't see them.

I tried installing grub-customizer and changing some options (like grub
resolution and font style and size), but it didn't work. Below it the
grub version that is installed:

[Bug 1858811] Re: Linux 5.3.0-26-generic kernel

2020-04-24 Thread Gerald Rozner
Just did a fresh install of Ubuntu 20.04 LTS on a NUC replacing 19.10.
The aforementioned issue has changed and it appears whatever was changed
post 5.3.0-24 was done intentionally.

The machine finishes post and the normal Intel NUC splash screen appears
with the F Keys displayed. The screen stays longer than before with the
F Keys slowly fading away to be replaced with only the Intel NUC splash
and the new Ubuntu logo. Both sharing the same screen. Then continuing
on to the normal desktop if the auto login is enabled. The entire
process about 7 seconds.

I don't think this is a bug as I reported it. Folks that actually work
on the kernel would know more than I but this certainly looks like the
latest kernel was designed to use and control the Intel splash screen.

On the Z77 using legacy boot the screen just stays black and boots in
the same amount of time.

[Bug 1860926] Re: Ubuntu 20.04 Systemd fails to configure bridged network

2020-04-24 Thread Jane Atkinson
The following has me wondering if this has partly to do with the
presence of containers, VMs and similar items.

I upgraded my router to 20.04 a few days before release. (Plain Ubuntu
command-line OS on a PC Engines APU1 board) That machine has a bridge
network comprising two ethernets and one wifi. I've had no problems with
it - it comes up nicely on boot. Whereas I have to use the crontab
workaround on my main PC which has a bridge for VMs.

I'm not clever enough to imagine why this might be the case, but I
thought it might be worth noting.

[Bug 1874941] [NEW] lag and hangs

2020-04-24 Thread Jofen Kihlström
Public bug reported:

Since upgrading from ubuntu 18.04 I have not been able to stream video
from youtube without the video freezing for a second or two every 30
seconds. Also when filling out this form the text lag. This has not been
the case on this computer when using 18.04, 19.04 or 19.10.

This performance issue renders the computer hard to use for work and I
am almost completly certain that it is xorg or some other graphics
issue.

[Bug 1874939] [NEW] ceph-osd can't connect after upgrade to focal

2020-04-24 Thread Christian Huebner
Public bug reported:

Upon upgrading a Ceph node with do-release-upgrade from eoan to focal,
the OSD doesn't connect after the upgrade. I rolled back the change
(VBox snapshot) and tried again, same result. I also tried to hold back
the Ceph packages and upgrade after the fact, but again same result.

Epected behavior: OSD connects to cluster after upgrade.

Actual behavior: OSD log shows endlessly repeated
'tick_without_osd_lock' messages. OSD will stay down from perspective of
the cluster.

Extract from debug log of OSD:

[Bug 1874940] [NEW] /usr/share/distro-info/ubuntu.csv lacks release minor version

2020-04-24 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Public bug reported:

Hi,

for automatted tools of downloading the latest iso image for Ubuntu it
would be quite usefull and convenient, if the list in /usr/share/distro-
info/ubuntu.csv would contain the minor release number, e.g.

not just 18.04 for bionic beaver, but 18.04.4 (maybe .4 as a separate
column), because that's what's needed to find the URL of the iso image
straigth forward and not just by trial or parsing web pages.

regards

[Bug 1874343] Re: Thunar hangs for several seconds on first launch

2020-04-24 Thread Wowbagger
OK, I found the source of the problem - trash ibus files, some owned by
root, that was causing issues with Thunar's communications.

For others: If you see this, remove ~/.config/ibus, ~/.cache/ibus, and
~/.dbus and reboot.

Now, how those bogus files came into being... I have no idea.

[Bug 1874935] [NEW] Xsane does not save resolution setting between sessions

2020-04-24 Thread whochismo
Public bug reported:

For some reason, xsane does not save the resolution setting between
sessions. By default it goes back to 100. All other settings in the same
panel are saved correctly.

Moreover, it shows two options regarding resolution: vertical and
horizontal resolution, with values that do not always match. Ideally,
just one box should work for both.

[Bug 1874933] Re: Performance workaround for Dell 7390 2-in-1 Ice Lake

2020-04-24 Thread Srinivas Pandruvada
** Description changed:

  As reported here:

https://www.phoronix.com/forums/forum/linux-graphics-x-org-drivers/intel-linux/1174225-dell-xps-7390-intel-ice-lake-performance-hit-hard-by-a-linux-kernel-regression?view=stream

This primarily impacts "Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (Focal Fossa)." as it switched to
5.4 kernel.
- The 5.4 kernel added support for "Processor thermal device", for Ice Lake,
which will expose the power tables (vi PPCC).
+ The 5.4 kernel added support for "Processor thermal device", for Ice Lake,
which will expose the power tables (via PPCC).

- This system default max RAPL long term power limit is 15W. But this
+ This system default "max RAPL long term power limit" is 15W. But this
power table is specifying as 9W. So thermald will limit power to 9W.

If dptfxtract is executed, then power limit will be higher than power up
value, but most of the users will use out of the box setup. So this need
  a workaround.

This workaround will ignore any power limit less than the power up power
  limit.

This is addressed in thermald 2.1 with two commits:

https://github.com/intel/thermal_daemon/commit/f7db434293387c965e8d9141608f855893740e3a

https://github.com/intel/thermal_daemon/commit/c3461690eafb7304bf59a39fb02955a5154b3861

-
I know 20.04 LTS uses 1.9.1. I can assist in backport if required.

[Bug 1874934] [NEW] Xsane crashes when acquiring preview if bit depth is set to 16

2020-04-24 Thread whochismo
Public bug reported:

I noticed a series of random crashes when using Xsane. One of the few
that I was been able to reproduce, seems to be caused by using 16 bit
depth instead of 8, as configured in the "basic options" menu.

The crash is produced at the moment of acquiring an image preview. The
moment the scanner starts moving, xsane closes. Launching xsane from a
terminal does not provide any useful information during the crash.

I am using Ubuntu 20.04LTS, with a clean install. However, that bug was
already present in 18.04LTS
