[Bug 1877726] Re: [HDA-Intel - HD-Audio Generic, playback] USB sound with Rodecaster Pro not working

2020-05-13 Thread nils
It works out-of-the-box on a windows 10 machine (both as input and
output for MS teams, Skype, etc.) on which I have no admin access, so it
seems to work there without extra drivers.

https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/getting-started-with-the-rodecaster-pro/
claims that it is class compliant on a MAC at least: "Before you can use the
Rodecaster Pro, you first need to download and install the Rodecaster Pro app,
as well as the firmware. The Rodecaster Pro is considered class-compliant on
Mac, which means it doesn’t need third-party audio drivers. PC users will need
to download ASIO4All for proper connectivity. Follow the
steps below to get started."

On a Macbook Pro (15inch, 2011) with High Sierra 10.13.6 (won't run
Mojave) using Garageband it shows up as a RODECaster Pro Stereo, and
works (recording, playback) without a problem. I see two channels
(theoretically I should see 14 in a DAW I think?), but it works.

[Bug 1878527] Re: "Dummy Output" as Audio Device in Ubuntu settings - Ubuntu 20.04.

2020-05-13 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report. It appears you have jackd installed, which is
not a normal part of Ubuntu and might steal the sound devices before
pulseaudio starts. Please uninstall jackd, restart, and tell us if the
problem persists.

Also if you have 'timidity' installed please remove that too.

[Bug 1878518] Re: Unable to complete/start an autoinstall using d-i/preseed on Focal 20.04 desktop

2020-05-13 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1878518/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[Bug 1878522] [NEW] [IOMMU] Support User IPI with kernel page table isolation (KPTI)

2020-05-13 Thread quanxian
Public bug reported:

Description:
User IPI architecture depends on memory resident tables for IPI routing. This
routing table, aka User Interrupt Target Table (UITT), are managed by the
kernel. Since this UIPI is bond to user tasks, UITT is also allocated per task
if UIPI connection is set up. The natural location of UITT is in task_struct
where its life cycle are managed according to the task life cycle. This is how
the initial implementation in SKX prototype is done.
However, with the aftermath of Meltdown vulnerability, KPTI is introduced. With
KPTI, most kernel memory (task struct included) are no longer mapped into user
process. We must address that by changing the allocation scheme of UITT.
This is no a unique situation, we can leverage existing infrastructure for LDT
and IDT.

Target Release: 20.10
Target Kernel: TBD

[Bug 1878519] [NEW] Unable to use TLSv1.1 to connect to external servers

2020-05-13 Thread Gordon Lack
Public bug reported:

I'm on 20.04 LTS (Focal Fossa). (Kubuntu)

openssl (I'm on 1.1.1f-1ubuntu2) appears to now be set to use a minimum
of TLSv1.2

This is despite the fact that the Changelog
(https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssl/+changelog) says:
  Revert "Enable system default config to enforce TLS1.2 as a
  minimum" & "Increase default security level from 1 to 2".

As a result of this I can't get fetchmail to connect to an external IMPA
server I use, which only uses TLSv1.1

I *can* get:
  openssl s_client -state -cipher "DEFAULT:@SECLEVEL=1" -connect ... -starttls
imap
to open a connexion, but I can find no way of getting that option into a
configuration file such that it is used.

Consequently I cannot use a secure connexion to retrieve my emails.

All was fine in 19.10.

[Bug 1878518] [NEW] Unable to complete/start an autoinstall using d-i/preseed on Focal 20.04 desktop

2020-05-13 Thread XaTriX
Public bug reported:

Well it seems related to debian-installer, idk.
This report is regarding the desktop version.

I cannot launch an auto install, using a .seed file correctly formatted (i
guess and also use somes already validated) on /cdrom/ or "url="

Tried a lot of combinations about boot options : severity=critical only
or maybe-ubiquity, addressing locale or using auto, auto=true, etc.

Can you reproduce this ?

Or can you manage to launch an auto install of a Desktop version ?

[Bug 1878442] Re: settings menu doesn't open and goes into the login menu

2020-05-13 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Please run the command from comment #1, but also...

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Bug 1878517] [NEW] please apply bash 5.0 patch 17

2020-05-13 Thread Kir Kolyshkin
Public bug reported:

I am using Ubuntu 20.04 for development and has hit a bug in bash 5.0
patch 16.

I can't reproduce it in pure bash, but with bats from https://github.com
/bats-core/bats-core/ it is very easy to repro:

```
# cat << EOF > ya.bats
check() {
echo "check $@"
ls -l /proc/self/fd
}
@test "here file" {
check -p <(echo "hey")
false
}
EOF
$ bats ya.bats
```

Normally the output should contain the line

   lr-x-- 1 kir kir 64 May 14 02:01 63 -> pipe:[4616918]

which is a result of a "here file" created by bash via <(echo "hey").

In my testing, about 50% of runs don't have /dev/fd/63 listed.

I found out this is a manifest of a bug introduced in bash 5.0 patch 16
(see http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/bash/bash-5.0-patches/bash50-016)

The bug is fixed in 5.0 patch 17 (see
http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/bash/bash-5.0-patches/bash50-017).

Please update bash to patchlevel 17.

Hello Timo,

Did you find a solution to this problem?

We are seeing the exact same scsi errors on our dell servers with H330
controller as well, on 18.04, 14T drives.

We have installed RHEL7 on other exact same spec servers, but the issue
is not present so it might be particular to Ubuntu and/or later kernels.

[Bug 1876864] Re: Screen stuck on purple boot screen

2020-05-13 Thread Tanya
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

  1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System ->
About Ubuntu: Description: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
  Release:  20.04

  2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname'
or by checking in Software Center:
  N: Unable to locate package pkgname

  3) What you expected to happen: The OS should have normally booted, as
  the previous version was working perfectly fine.

  4) What happened instead: Since I have updated to Ubuntu 20.04, a few days
back, the screen gets stuck on the purple boot screen that reads (Booting in
insecure mode). I tried the "nomodeset method", however, the same didn't work
for me. Every time I have to boot using the advanced boot settings, by choosing
some other version of Ubuntu from the available options onscreen (either n the
generic or the recovery mode).
  Further information: I am using the Dell Inspiron 14 3000 Series.

- It will be great if someone could either suggest some solution, or
- Ubuntu could release an official update to fix this problem.
