[Bug 1886214] Re: zsys package post-installation failed when boot pool is not imported
FWIW whenever this happened to me, `/boot` was not empty, so ZFS refused to mount it. [Bug 1889178] Re: [nvidia] Volume OSD stutters game
I've done more research and this may be related to xorg from what I've been reading. This has also been an issue since ubuntu 17. So many people have this problem and it's not been fixed 3 ubuntu versions down; google search xorg media key lag. In summary short spike of cpu usage when multimedia keys are pressed such as volume or brightness, this can be from a headset or using keyboard fn keys. ** Description changed: From https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/3020 === Affected version Ubuntu 20.04 GNOME Shell 3.36.3 - Don't know if Wayland or XOrg is applicable + XOrg Bug summary The volume OSD on Ubuntu 20.04, which I assume is a GNOME notification based on a reddit thread I read, when adjusting volume will stutter any game I am playing and will completely freeze my computer when I'm in a certain fullscreen application. Multiple people have this issue; some the volume OSD will stutter their game some it will minimize their game when adjusting the volume. I made a bug post on r/GNOME but I found this gitlab and thought it might be more appropriate to file an issue here on gitlab. Link to my post: https://www.reddit.com/r/gnome/comments/hz9jcj/gnome_notification_like_ubuntu_volume_osd_is/ Steps to reproduce stutter: Start up any game like CS:GO for example, it's completely free to play. If you own Minecraft that works too it's way faster to load. Now enter a game and move mouse around while adjusting volume or move character while adjusting volume and observe stutter. Now the freeze, I used technic launcher which requires a Minecraft account; but technic launcher is ran as an executable jar file so I hope that helps; maybe it can also reproduced by running a jar file eg a game in fullscreen. However I know these steps work on the technic launcher How to reproduce freeze: Download the technic launcher jar file to desktop Right click jar file and allow executing of file as program under permissions Double click the jar file to run it Log in Install empty forge 1.12.2 After installed run that modpack (empty forge 1.12.2) Head into options and enable fullscreen Adjust volume and observe freeze (I'll try to capture this in OBS if I can) What happened After reproducing the steps above the game stutters every time the volume OSD is drawn. What did you expect to happen The volume OSD should draw without lagging anything. Relevant logs, screenshots, screencasts etc. I will download obs and record it happening then post to youtube and provide a link. This will take some time. === 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -> About Ubuntu 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or by checking in Software Center 3) What you expected to happen 4) What happened instead 1) Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS 2) Any video game. I used Minecraft 1.16.1 and CS:GO 3) Volume OSD shows up and doesn't stutter game 4) Volume OSD shows up and stutters game I attatched a short video showing the stutter while in a singleplayer world of Minecraft. [Bug 1734147] Re: corrupted BIOS due to Intel SPI bug in kernel
@axt thank you for the update. But the problem is my BIOS has now become read only. Earlier last year, I tried to upgrade ubuntu from 17 to 19 and since then the BIOS has become read only. If I make any changes it will not get saved. That's my main issue. I cannot boot from USB, I cannot boot from DVD etc.. My default first boot device is Ubuntu and then windows and then USB and network.. etc.. Even if I do f12 and select boot from USB it doesn't work. @axt I even tried flashing the BIOS it does not boot from my Pen drive. I downloaded the latest version of UEFI as per BIOS Update for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Windows 8 (64-bit) , Windows 8.1 (64-bit), Windows10 (64-bit) - Lenovo Z40-70, Z50-70 and tried to execute the package from windows 8 os but after reboot nothing happens. the Bios version is not changed and the bios is still not saving any changes what ever changes I do in it. now I have removed the ubuntu and deleted few partitations of Linux using partition magic. but now the system partition where the UEFI files are there is still there. Last night I tried to run pratation magic. Assigned a drive letter to the system partation then using powershell with admin rights I tried to replace the grubx64.efi.signed in UEFI folder under Ubuntu but it didn't work Now I have removed the Ubuntu folder from that partition and now it directly boots to windows as soon as I start my laptop but my main concern is to fix the BIOS which is not saving my changes in it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1734147 Title: corrupted BIOS due to Intel SPI bug in kernel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1734147/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1853277] Re: Lenovo ThinkBook 14-IML Touchpad not showing up in /proc/bus/input/devices
Hello! Would like to let you know that this issue is relevant for me as well. I have ThinkPad 14-IIL, ELAN06034 touchpad is not working. Upgrading the kernel from default 5.4.?? to both 5.6 (linux-oem-20.04) and 5.7.11 (latest available for Ubuntu right now) did not work. Would love to share any other logs/information if required. I also noticed that on kernel 5.7.11 there is a bunch acpi-related errors in dmesg, though I dont think this is relevant. And I also tried decompiling the DSDT and the HID seems to be correct, no or _HID. [Bug 1880258] Re: Add trailing dot to make connectivity-check.ubuntu.com. absolute and reduce NXDOMAIN warning noise
I ran tcpdump 'host ubuntu20 and port domain' on my router and looked at all the other NXDOMAIN at boot time besides this one. 1. PTR request on the IPv4 address of my virbr0 interface. Gone after uninstalling a couple libvirt-* packages 2. PTR request on ONE of my IPv6 addresses. It's not obvious to me which address gets picked for that PTR query. I disabled IPv6 ULA on my router and the PTR request just moved to a different address. 3. SOA local. ?? I also found that NetworkManager needs to be told "connectivity-check.ubuntu.com has no record" about 12 times during boot, that seems a bit excessive? [Bug 1889114] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 Update Breaks KVM Wireless Mouse
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: I installed Ubuntu 18.04 updates on July 21st. This was a relatively small update with kernel related files from what I remember when installing the update. Since the update, my KVM connected Logitech G305 wireless mouse functionality is broken. The KVM keyboard and display still function correctly. I have 2 computers (desktop and laptop) connected to a KVM switch. The 2 computers are dual boot Ubuntu 18.04 and Windows 7 Pro. This KVM setup has worked since 2015 with versions of Linux Mint 17.x, Ubuntu 18.04, and Windows 7 Pro. The KVM (ConnectPro 14+) • Has a video cable from each computer to the KVM • Has a USB control cable from each computer to the KVM • Has a video cable from the KVM to the display • Has a USB-to-PS/2 adapter connecting the KVM keyboard output to the PS/2 keyboard • Has a KVM USB extension cable with the Logitech G305 wireless mouse receiver plugged into the USB connector. The extension cable is used to locate the receiver in proximity to the wireless mouse. I updated Ubuntu on the desktop on July 21st. Since the update, I have lost wireless mouse functionality to the desktop. But, I still have functionality with Win 7 Pro, and with the Ubuntu 18.04 laptop that was not updated. KVM Wireless Mouse function matrix (see attached image) I replaced the mouse battery, so that is not the problem. I verified that a wired mouse and the wireless Logitech G305 mouse both work properly when plugged directly into a USB port on the M83 desktop. I replaced the wireless mouse with a wired mouse on the KVM mouse input, and the 4 configurations above worked OK (including the desktop with the July updates). So, I think that the July 21st update broke some function(s) in the handling of the wireless mouse USB controls signals between the desktop computer and the KVM switch. 1. Can I provide any additional configuration information, and, if so, what terminal commands should I run? 2. How do I recover from this problem? 3. Can I back-out the update? If so, how will this impact future updates? 4. What else can I try to restore the wireless mouse functionality? Thank you in advance for your assistance. [Bug 1889217] Re: Make digital mic on the AMD renoir machines work under gnome desktop
** Description changed: [Impact] On the LENOVO AMD renoir machines, there is a digital mic directly connected to the APU instead of the codec, so there are two separate sound cards in the system, one is for analogue codec driven by hda driver, the other is for the dmic driven by ASoC acp driver. The current audio stack (pulseaudio + alsa-ucm-conf + alsa-lib) doesn't support this design yet, it could support all audio devices on the codec well, but it doesn't support that dmic well. In the gnome-control-center, the dmic becomes two input devices: analog input and multichannel input, and users can only record sound from analog input, the multichannel input can't function at all. Besides this issue, there is another issue, after users plug an external mic, the external mic can't replace the dmic automatically, this gives users a bad experience since this behaviour is different from the other audio designs. I was able to recreate the upgrade failure by installing the following packages: python-pyqt5.qtwebchannel python-pyqt5.qtsensors-dbg python-pyqt5.qtopengl-dbg I'm not sure if all three are required if a subset will also produce the error. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1887544 Title: can not upgrade from 18.04 to 20.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1887544/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1864365] Re: [snap] Dialog font missing
I recently added nerd-fonts to my system. I placed them in ~/.local/share/fonts directory. https://github.com/ryanoasis/nerd-fonts And now I have this bug. I removed that directory and copied all those fonts to ~/.fonts and the bug is gone. I'm not sure if some programs need the fonts to be in ~/.local/share/fonts directory. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1864365 Title: [snap] Dialog font missing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1864365/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
