[Bug 1902244] Re: Backport packages for 20.04.2 HWE stack
To all above, my Ubuntu 20.04lts software update is attempting to load but hangs and this repeats every time I reboot machine. I was just reading through the technical descriptions trying to figure out what could be causing the hanging up...and selected a random link to open browser to attempt to highlight my plight... Also not sure if this is related to the Display (Extended) screen issues I'm again having on 20.04lts. Got it (Extended) displays going a while back but then after a reinstall for other software issues from Microchip MPLAB X IDE again am having difficulty trying to get extended display to word again... Know it's a shot in the dark mentioning this here with the hanging Software update... but worth a try. ** Attachment added: "Hanging Software Update and repeat attempt on every reboot." https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1902244/+attachment/5445381/+files/Screenshot%20from%202020-12-21%2005-53-58.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1902244 Title: Backport packages for 20.04.2 HWE stack To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libclc/+bug/1902244/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 335662] Re: [jaunty] hplip status service cannot find system tray
Update: looks like the return of this problem is being triggered by Ubuntu Updater of Dec 17 give or take a few days. That update includes AppIndicator/KStatusNotifierItem support for Gnome Shell, common files for Gnome desktop apps, crash reporting, input device management and event handling library changes, introspection data for Gnome desktop, Python 3 changes, Utility library for loading .desktop files, wrapper library for evdev devices, and removal of "unused" kernel updates related to Linux kernel 5.4.0 among other things. [Bug 1908846] [NEW] lubuntu focal.2 calamares fails to parse GeoIP results correctly in JSON (refile)
Public bug reported: This really is a re-file of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/calamares/+bug/1898501 which was closed as INVALID. Lubuntu 20.04.2 daily QA-test install today has my location in calamares as New York US, not Melbourne AU. [Bug 1882527] Re: mysql timeoutsec results in killing mysql process
** Description changed: MySQL on 20.04 has TimeoutSec set to 600 (IIRC) in the systemd script. This has the effect of killing the MySQL process if this timeout is reached. IMHO this is a Very Bad Idea. A database server process should only be force killed by a user action. I would prefer that the server had unlimited time to cleanly shutdown and startup (eg if recovering). Our DB is about 500GB with some very large tables (for us at least) eg. 250GB and we've had more than a few unfortunate delays as a result of delayed startup caused by recoveries because MySQL was killed prematurely. Because MySQL 8.0 has reduced the default logging level, it was not clear to me that the process was being force killed. I believe the MySQL team are of the same view as me per https://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=91423: ``` [12 Jul 2019 15:57] Paul Dubois Posted by developer: - + Fixed in 8.0.18. On Debian, long InnoDB recovery times at startup could cause systemd service startup failure. The default systemd service timeout is now disabled (consistent with RHEL) to prevent this from happening. ``` -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1882527 Title: mysql timeoutsec results in killing mysql process To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-8.0/+bug/1882527/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1908843] [NEW] fstrim spins up HDDs
Public bug reported: Issue: fstrim.timer is enabled and trigger "/sbin/fstrim --fstab --verbose --quiet" which spins up hard drives mounted in fstab. How can one ignore or specify which drives to use fstrim on for fstrim? Or could this be related to that I've symbolic links between SD card and drives? Re: [Bug 1908802] Re: backport-iwlwifi-dkms 7841-ubuntu2~ubuntu18.04.1: backport-iwlwifi kernel module failed to build
Dear Jeremy, Hi, Thank you so much for contacting me. My laptop was very badly crashed last week after Intel update. My laptop's Ubuntu is just start running a few days ago. My laptop is Dell XPS-13 developer edition (Ubuntu operation), but somehow, they installed new hard disc with Windows. I used Dell's recovery application to reinstall Ubuntu system. I tried to fix the problem as your direction, but I received the error message as below. noriko@noriko-XPS-13-7390:~$ sudo apt install --reinstall backport-iwlwifi-dkms [sudo] password for noriko: E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable) E: Unable to acquire the dpkg frontend lock (/var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend), is another process using it? Ubuntu asked me to report the problem, so I filled the form. I am glad I had done because I didn't know without your notification. This is running little bit funny. I am experiencing regularly that the double click is not always working. I tried to fix the issue at settings, but it comes back over and over. If you have any suggestion for the problem, please provide me your guidance. I have an exam tomorrow, so I would like to fix after it. Therefore, you don't need to provide me the advice immediately. Thank you so much. [Bug 1908839] Re: trackpad does not work Ubuntu 20 / Lenovo IdeaPad 3
I see the system is guessing this is a fresh install. That is correct. Laptop came with Windows10, but I bought it to learn and use Ubuntu. First installed ZorinOS Pro (dual boot with Win10) Then I later installed Ubuntu. HDD currently had Windows10, Zorin OS Pro, and Ubuntu. TrackPad works under Windows, so it's not a hardware issue. Any help is appreciated. This is not critical, though, as I can use a USB mouse. I'm just learning to t-shoot and resolve issues in Ubuntu, as I learn my way around the O/S and linux commands in terminal. Thanks so much! [Bug 1830986] Re: nodejs-dev and php7.2-dev have conflicting requirements in Bionic
Obviously this also keeps people from using libssl-dev and nodejs-dev (or npm) together. QT 5.15 depends on the OpenSSL version in libssl-dev which makes it hard to use Bionic to build AppImages for applications using QT 5.15. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1830986 Title: nodejs-dev and php7.2-dev have conflicting requirements in Bionic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nodejs/+bug/1830986/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1903903] Re: [MSI MS-17C5] "Analog Stereo Duplex" profile keeps disappearing
Thanks, I can confirm that the workaround in bug 1897965 (changing the line in pipewire.conf) worked for me. [Bug 1907676] Re: segmentation fault when opening fd
@julian, thanks for the quick reply. Will do. ** Changed in: python-apt (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released ** Description changed: [Impact] USN-4668-1 introduced a regression in python-apt when using certain APIs with a file handle. [Test case] # Landscape scenario: 1) On the Landscape server, create a package profile that installs a single package, 'hello' is enough. 2) On the Landscape server, apply the package profile to a client 3) On the Landscape client, verify that there is no segfault message on '/var/log/kern.log' 4) On the Landscape server, verify that the activity to apply the package profile ends with success. Step 3) would show a segfault and step 4), the activity would stay 'In Progress' forever. - [Where problem could occurs] + # dak scenario: + dak crashes with a segmentation fault in python3-apt when processing + uploads or processing the NEW queue on ftp-master; and also on my + playground server (used to generate the backtrace). + + [Where problems could occurs] [Other info] See Debian bug: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=977000 Fix: https://salsa.debian.org/apt-team/python-apt/-/commit/3d9af5f196ad6a6c6973ac699a15888d21a9bb52 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1907676 Title: segmentation fault when opening fd To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-apt/+bug/1907676/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1907676] Re: segmentation fault when opening fd
Eric, the updates are built ready in the security team PPA since Dec 10 and only need to be released. [Bug 1907676] Re: segmentation fault when opening fd
They prepared the updates on the same day as the fix (well the full regression fix with the follow-up commits) but did not roll out the fix so far because only dak reported a regression and codesearch did not yield any other users of that interface. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1907676 Title: segmentation fault when opening fd To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-apt/+bug/1907676/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
