[Bug 1912872] Re: Freezes on boot
Thanks for the bug report. It appears you don't have a working kernel driver for your Nvidia GPU, and that maybe an unsupported driver was installed manually. If you have any way of logging in then please use the 'Additional Drivers' app to install a supported Nvidia driver on the system. If you do not have any way of logging in then I suggest reinstalling Ubuntu from scratch and then be careful NOT to install any drivers from the Nvidia website. Use only the 'Additional Drivers' app to install Nvidia drivers. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => ubuntu ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1912872 Title: Freezes on boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1912872/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1912898] Re: Last few kernel updates, video crashes, system freezes
Thanks for the bug report. A few thoughts: 1. xserver-xorg-video-intel is old and not supported. Please uninstall it to make sure you're using the newer default driver ('modesetting'). 2. Your kernel log shows constant hardware errors from the 'Intel Corporation 8 Series PCI Express Root Port 3': [ 69.485800] pcieport :00:1c.0: AER: Corrected error received: :00:1c.0 [ 69.485812] pcieport :00:1c.0: AER: PCIe Bus Error: severity=Corrected, type=Data Link Layer, (Transmitter ID) [ 69.485817] pcieport :00:1c.0: AER: device [8086:9c14] error status/mask=1000/2000 [ 69.485821] pcieport :00:1c.0: AER:[12] Timeout I don't know if that's a real hardware problem or a kernel bug. Hi, I was reconsidering the state of the bug - in triaging for the issue "Property 'tpm-tis.tpmdev' can't find value 'tpm-tpm0'" that was reported I think - until further feedback - we'll have to consider (see posts above) as fixed in Hirsute. [Bug 1870837] Re: BLE not working; hcitool lescan says 'Set scan parameters failed: Input/output error'; Ubuntu 20.04 kernel
Allow me to emphasis again, this is not a kernel issue. Bluetooth spec "3.1.1 Legacy and extended advertising": If, since the last power-on or reset, the Host has ever issued a legacy advertising command and then issues an extended advertising command, or has ever issued an extended advertising command and then issues a legacy advertising command, the Controller shall return the error code Command Disallowed (0x0C). Basically it follows you shall not mix legacy/extended commands. It will not be supported in the controller firmware as the specification says so. Old kernels may work, because they don't have BLE extended command set support at the time. So please stop using hcitool. That's it. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1870837 Title: BLE not working; hcitool lescan says 'Set scan parameters failed: Input/output error'; Ubuntu 20.04 kernel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1870837/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1754601] Re: openconnect has trouble maintaining a VPN connection
I'm one of the OpenConnect developers. This thread appears to be describing THREE SEPARATE PROBLEMS, which likely have nothing to do with Ubuntu's packaging specifically. Please submit bug reports at https://gitlab.com/openconnect/openconnect/-/issues. @Ingo Karkat: > What helped for me was switching from > > $ sudo openconnect --protocol=pulse ... > > to > > $ sudo openconnect --juniper ... > > Which is odd, because my company's VPN is Pulse Secure?! All Pulse Secure VPNs are backwards-compatible with the Juniper protocol. The two protocols are completely different, and both are *terrible* messes… but our understanding of the Juniper protocol is more complete. [Bug 1912833] Re: Gnome shell crashes when using wl-copy or wl-paste
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Tags added: focal ** Changed in: mutter (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1912833 Title: Gnome shell crashes when using wl-copy or wl-paste To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/1912833/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1912974] [NEW] discrete card not powered down in Intel mode with legacy drivers
Public bug reported: This is the same issue as originally reported in bug 1765363 but that report is old and has a lot of extra data on it so it was requested that a new bug be opened if we were still having the issue. So... I am still having the issue, at least with the 390 series drivers (my laptop has a Quadro 5400M). Switching to Intel mode via either the GUI in nvidia-settings or via prime-select successfully moves the rendering to the Intel card but does not power down the discrete card, as evidenced by either power consumption in powertop in excess of 20W, or by manually checking /proc/acpi/bbswitch (shows ON). Manually echoing off into /proc/acpi/bbswitch does turn the card off as can be seen from the power consumption drop. [Bug 1912969] Re: librelp is FTBFS on riscv64 on Focal

Recent runs see "00046000 msgs sent" for basic-realistic.sh and "00029000 msgs sent" for tls-basic-realistic.sh, which misses the 50,000 mark by a long shot. [Bug 1912970] [NEW] Fix for GRUB_FLAVOUR_ORDER in grub-mkconfig_lib
Public bug reported: Description:Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS Release:20.04 I am submitting a patch for /usr/share/grub/grub-mkconfig_lib to fix the usage of GRUB_FLAVOUR_ORDER in method version_test_gt(). I have installed the XanMod-LTS kernel in my Ubuntu 20.04 installation. The Ubuntu 20.04 kernel is currently 5.8.0-38-generic and the current xanmod1 kernel is 5.4.91-xanmod1. The sort routine in /usr/share/grub/grub-mkconfig_lib will sort the Ubuntu kernel ahead of the xanmod1 kernel due to the higher version number when assigning the default Ubuntu menu entry at the beginning of the grub2 menu. If /etc/default/grub is updated to include the following entry, it should change the sort order: # Set xanmod1 as the preferred flavour for the default Ubuntu menu entry GRUB_FLAVOUR_ORDER="xanmod1 generic" Unfortunately, there is a trivial bug in method version_test_gt() in /usr/share/grub/grub-mkconfig_lib that prevents this from working. I have attached a patch that corrects it. Once the bug is fixed, the desired sort order is achieved and the 5.4.91-xanmod1 kernel is made the default Ubuntu menu entry. $ sudo update-grub Sourcing file `/etc/default/grub' Sourcing file `/etc/default/grub.d/init-select.cfg' Generating grub configuration file ... using custom appearance settings Found background image: /usr/share/images/grub/Movie_TRON-Legacy_131740_1600x1200.tga Found linux image: /boot/vmlinuz-5.4.91-xanmod1 Found initrd image: /boot/initrd.img-5.4.91-xanmod1 Found linux image: /boot/vmlinuz-5.4.89-xanmod1 Found initrd image: /boot/initrd.img-5.4.89-xanmod1 Found linux image: /boot/vmlinuz-5.8.0-38-generic Found initrd image: /boot/initrd.img-5.8.0-38-generic Found linux image: /boot/vmlinuz-5.8.0-36-generic Found initrd image: /boot/initrd.img-5.8.0-36-generic ** Affects: grub2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: grub2 ** Package changed: gvfs (Ubuntu) => grub2 (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1912970 Title: Fix for GRUB_FLAVOUR_ORDER in grub-mkconfig_lib To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1912970/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The only problem is that it supports all LTS versions except ONE: xenial 16.04, on which I'm running lubuntu right now. Did you just forget to make it available or is it intentional? In the former case, it would be highly appreciated that you add support for xenial 16.04. [Bug 1850966] Re: Stuck at "Refreshing software cache" after enabling repository not updated for Eoan
Hello guys: First: I'm german, and I think my english is not the best. I had the same problem. All i did was to get Internet connection. Sounds simple and silly - but when i got the internet connection, my "refreshing (software) cache" made it till the end (closed itself just like in the tutorial, which i am watching) without problems & without a "send this problem"-window. My litle life story: I've been frustrated when I was waiting about a night to hope, it would been solved in idle. Now - a week later - i am frustrated with a smile in the face too. I wish, that this kind of my solution is your solution. [Bug 1912963] [NEW] [ThinkPad E14 Gen2] Internal microphone is not detected
Public bug reported: The internal microphone is not detected when I use the stock kernel 5.8.0-40-generic: pavucontrol does not show it in the list of input devices, the applications like Zoom or Skype do not see it too. It looks similar to https://askubuntu.com/questions/1277606/internal- microphone-not-working-on-lenovo-thinkpad-e14-gen-2-amd. I tried the workaround mentioned there: switched to kernel 5.9.0-050900-generic from https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.9/amd64/ - and now the microphone was detected and seemed to work OK (I checked that with pavucontrol and Zoom).
