[Bug 1920656] Re: loading Lubuntu 18.04 crashed when I removed the flash drive prematurely

2021-03-20 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

This installation looks like it was caused by a corrupted file system,
or device problems (sdb & sdb5). I notice in the logs

Your description also provides for it being a user-created error
condition.

I've marked this bug as incomplete (due hardware issues), if you believe
I'm in error please leave a comment as to why, and you can return the
status to "New".

I suggest you validate the health of your hardware (esp. disk by
checking it's SMART status using `smartctl`, `gnome-disks` or whichever
tool you prefer), and possibly the integrity of your partition table
(https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Smartmontools). If you're unfamiliar
with these, I suggest seeking support, options available can be seen at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/finding-help/709

2021-03-20 Thread Trent Lloyd
I got another couple of days out of it without issue - so I think it's
likely fixed.

It seems like this issue looks very similar to the following upstream bug, same
behaviour but a different error, and so I wonder if it was ultimately the same
bug. Looks like this patch from 2.0.3 was pulled into the package?
https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/issues/11621
https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/issues/11474
https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/pull/11576

Further testing has been hampered as zsys deleted all of my home
datasets entirely (including all snapshots) - tracked in
https://github.com/ubuntu/zsys/issues/196 - using a non-zfs boot until I
finish recovering that - but still seems likely fixed as I was hitting
it most days before.

[Bug 1919143] Re: Update mutter to 3.36.9

2021-03-20 Thread Christian Rauch
I am a bit confused about the version scheme here. My "About" page in
the settings says I am already on GNOME Version 3.36.8, but the mutter
version is 3.36.7 and the gnome-shell version is 3.36.4.

How is this "GNOME Version" determined? Shouldn't all the GNOME packages
be on the same version 3.36.8
(https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/tree/3.36.8,
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/tree/3.36.8, ...)?

Unfortunately it does not seem to be fixed in trunk or KDE 4.2.3, where
the fix was backported.

The problem here seems to be that youtube is doing its own checks for
Flash, and won't embed the flash object unless Flash is found. The way
flash detection currently works is that a "do you want to download
flash" dialog is given if a page tries to embed flash when it is not
installed.

[Bug 1920187] Re: Installer failure Lenovo Yoga

2021-03-20 Thread Jim Cross
I shut down, then reinstalled from usb. All up and running ok. I didn't
want to go through the MS Windows setup (which I find particularly
irksome, cumbersome and intrusive) which is probably why the Windows
cache contained the metadata.

I only sent the failure through in case there were any bugs in the
installer that may have needed patching.

2021-03-20 Thread Felipe Reyes
Hi,

This is a workaround you can use temporarily:

$ wget -O- http://ddebs.ubuntu.com/dbgsym-release-key.asc | sudo apt-
key add -
$ sudo apt update

The key was extended temporarily.

Best,

[Bug 1920578] Re: mozc-tool ignores KDE Qt theme

2021-03-20 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Thanks for your report.

Do you know if the issue is present in e.g. 20.04 or 20.10 as well?

Assuming you are using Kubuntu, I don't have access to any Kubuntu
install ATM. But both Mozc Setup and About Mozc look good for me on
Ubuntu 20.10 and 21.04, i.e. it honors the theme in effect, in my case
Yaru which is a GTK theme.

2021-03-20 Thread Butterfly
Hi,

Nvidia-340 driver added to PPA for hirsute (21.04) base. You can install
nvdia-340 driver from PPA. The driver in PPA repository currently
supports up to 5.12 of Linux kernel .
https://launchpad.net/~kelebek333/+archive/ubuntu/nvidia-legacy

PPA repository supports bionic, focal, groovy and hirsute bases.

Nvidia-340 driver's official support for hirsute base is no longer
available.

nvidia-graphics-drivers-340 (340.108-0ubuntu8) hirsute; urgency=medium

  * Drop support for the 340 driver, in favour of the nouveau driver
since it is no longer supported by NVIDIA:

Re: [Bug 1920639] [NEW] Don't start ibus with "--panel disable"

2021-03-20 Thread fossfreedom
What I will do is upload this to Ubuntu first prior to acceptance by
upstream.

I will use this fix to show via a bug fix to Debian later that the bug is
shown to be well tested.

[Bug 1918466] Re: Garbage window on external 4k display

2021-03-20 Thread Alex_A
it show that this bug is in an incomplete state, I was one of the people
how discovered it, let me know how I can help.

I can provide diagnostics, whatever might be missing if needed to narrow
it down.

I am seeing this issue with latest LTS version (20.04.2), and primarily
usign the Yaru theme. If I use Advalta is very rare on the primary
display, however on the secondary display it still shows the issue.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug. However, Xubuntu 14.04
reached end-of-life in April of 2017. Please try installing a supported
version of Xubuntu.

N.B. Ubuntu LTS releases are supported for 5 years, with official
flavors (Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Xubuntu,Ubuntu Budgie, Ubuntu MATE, Ubuntu
Kylin, Ubuntu Studio) supported for 3 years of that LTS cycle.

[Bug 1300211] Re: Can't install both gcc-multilib and gcc-arm-linux-gnueabihf

2021-03-20 Thread Akeo
This is what worked for me, to build x86_32, x86_64, ARM and ARM64 UEFI
drivers from a single Ubuntu 20.04 platform (which is actually an
AppVeyor build environment):

sudo update-alternatives --remove-all gcc
sudo update-alternatives --remove-all g++
sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/gcc gcc /usr/bin/gcc-9 90 --slave
/usr/bin/g++ g++ /usr/bin/g++-9
sudo -E apt-get install -y gcc-9-multilib gcc-9-aarch64-linux-gnu
gcc-9-arm-linux-gnueabi
sudo ln -s /usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu/asm/ /usr/local/include/asm
sudo ln -s /usr/bin/aarch64-linux-gnu-gcc-9 /usr/bin/aarch64-linux-gnu-gcc
sudo ln -s /usr/bin/aarch64-linux-gnu-gcc-ar-9 /usr/bin/aarch64-linux-gnu-gcc-ar
sudo ln -s /usr/bin/arm-linux-gnueabi-gcc-9 /usr/bin/arm-linux-gnueabi-gcc
sudo ln -s /usr/bin/arm-linux-gnueabi-gcc-ar-9 /usr/bin/arm-linux-gnueabi-gcc-ar

If you are interested, you can find the AppVeyor build log, that
demonstrates how all 4 versions of gcc were properly invoked, at
https://ci.appveyor.com/project/pbatard/ntfs-
3g/builds/38316398?fullLog=true

Note that this is a real-life scenario, where some developers actually
need to produce UEFI executables, for all supported UEFI archs, in one
go. As such, it would really be a lot nicer if a 'gcc-multilib gcc-
aarch64-linux-gnu gcc-arm-linux-gnueabi' configuration was supported
without having to resort to applying workarounds.

[Bug 1920632] [NEW] use of Wacom stylus causes immediate system hang

2021-03-20 Thread Piotr Czekalski
Public bug reported:

Once updated kernel from 5.8.0-44 to 5.8.0.45, any use of Wacom stylus causes
immediate system hang, frozen both GUI and OS. Removing the Wacom kernel module

[Bug 1822394] Re: [Dell BIOSes dated 27 Mar 2019, XPS 9575, Precision 5530 2-in-1] laptop keyboard & touchpad not working at gdm screen after boot

2021-03-20 Thread gamood
Hello Saturday 20 march 2021
running Ubuntu Mate "20.04.2 LTS (Focal Fossa)" (will stick to LTS)
so this is mate desktop here and architecture is of course 64 bits.
On my dell XPS 9575 the issue is present: either need to close and open screen
hinge or wait 10 seconds to get to mousepad to life.
Did not try any unoficial patch.
I just updated from 1.12.1 bios to 1.14.1 with no change.
Thanks for reading.

[Bug 1920619] [NEW] Epson Stylus SX535WD does not print in Ubuntu 20.04

2021-03-20 Thread Steve Pemberton
Public bug reported:

I have an Epson Stylus SX535WD, connected to the computer via USB. It
prints correctly in Ubuntu 18.04. I recently upgraded to Ubuntu 20.04.2
LTS, and it no longer prints. The setup wizard seems to work. It detects
the printer correctly, and asks for permission to install drivers from
Epson. When I try to print, a message appears on the screen saying that
the job has been submitted. A few seconds later, another message
appears, saying the job has completed, but no output appears. The job
shows up as completed in the printer queue. I tried printing a test page
(Settings -> Printers -> Additional Printer Settings -> right-click the
printer -> Properties -> Print Test Page), and also printing a document
from LibreOffice.

I upgraded my hardware (motherboard and CPU) at the same time as Ubuntu,
and thought that might be the cause of the problem, but I booted the
computer from a live USB of Ubuntu 18.04, and the printer worked then.

I followed the recommendations at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems, none of which fixed
the problem. Everything that the page tells me to check looks OK.

The printer has a built-in scanner, which works in 20.04.

Output from apt-cache (I'm not sure which of these are right or
relevant):

[Bug 1886092] Re: libreoffice doesn't list gpg private key for a digital signature due to apparmor

2021-03-20 Thread Hans Deragon
Confirming that fix suggested by Zunda in the bug description works for
me on Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS and LibreOffice Ubuntu package version:
1:7.1.1~rc2-0ubuntu0.20.04.1~lo1.

Below, the fix I repeated again just to make sure everybody understand
exactly what I did.

[Bug 1920202] Re: Updated to kernel 5.4.0-67-generic and Xen DomU stoped working

2021-03-20 Thread Torsten
More installations are effected (see
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1324283/unable-to-add-disk-devices-for-
domu-after-kernel-update-5-4-0-67).

Running Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS with xen 4.11

After the last kernel update 5.4.0-67 and a server restart none of the
guests were started. Trying to start a domU manually I got the following
error message:

libxl: error: libxl_device.c:1130:device_backend_callback: Domain

Only reverting to the previous kernel 5.4.0-66 solved the problem.

There is no such issue on another Ubuntu device with the **exact** same
SSL and freshclam configurations and located on the same private network
as the failing device sharing the same IP public address.

Is it possible that cloudflare enforces a limit on the number of devices
which are allowed to download from
https://database.clamav.net/daily.cvd?

[Bug 1905064] Re: "+" suffix in 3.9.0+ breaks pip

2021-03-20 Thread Gert van Dijk
It seems this version string was introduced in a upstream Debian patch
indeed, when it was based on a prerelease version of Python 3.9. The
patch (git-updates.diff) was dropped later.

Introduced (erroneously):
https://salsa.debian.org/cpython-team/python3/-/commit/5334a0144db8e35afa8ae898d0dbd06afa426ccb

Removed:
https://salsa.debian.org/cpython-team/python3/-/commit/7952d9ce65aa51d6a23107ce1e30d0d92b1e15c7

Please backport the updated Debian-packaged Python 3.9 to Ubuntu.

[Bug 1867668] Re: Visual artifacts in Gnome Shell when using the old 'intel' Xorg driver

2021-03-20 Thread NLin TKO
Removing xserver-xorg-video-intel and 20-intel.conf did not work on my
Intel NUC which is being used as a headless server. As it is a headless
machine I control it from my PC using Remmina (VNC). The NUC does not
have a monitor connected to it. When the NUC boots it searches for a
monitor. If it can't find one it won't activate video. If so, Remmina
VNC results in showing a black screen. In order to be able to see the
NUC's desktop I need to "trick" it during boot into believing that a
monitor is connected. This is done through 20-intel.conf. Its contents
forces the NUC to believe that displays are connected:

Section "Device"
Identifier "intelgpu0"
Driver "intel"
Option "VirtualHeads" "2"
EndSection

Therefore, removing xserver-xorg-video-intel and 20-intel.conf resulted in that
I could not see the NUC's desktop anymore via Remmina.
As an experiment I connected a monitor to the NUC's HDMI port. In this case the
artifacts are gone.
I plan to try one alternative solution: plug a HDMI dummy adapter into the
NUC's HDMI port. Then I might not need the mentioned code in 20-intel.conf any
more. Then remove xserver-xorg-video-intel and 20-intel.conf, hoping that I can
connect via Remmina.
