[Bug 1920656] Re: loading Lubuntu 18.04 crashed when I removed the flash drive prematurely
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This installation looks like it was caused by a corrupted file system, or device problems (sdb & sdb5). I notice in the logs Mar 21 00:58:55 lubuntu kernel: [ 8961.608853] print_req_error: I/O error, dev sdb, sector 103058040 Mar 21 00:58:55 lubuntu kernel: [ 8961.608916] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] tag#0 FAILED Result: hostbyte=DID_NO_CONNECT driverbyte=DRIVER_OK Mar 21 00:58:55 lubuntu kernel: [ 8961.608921] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] tag#0 CDB: Read(10) 28 00 06 24 8b 68 00 00 10 00 Mar 21 00:58:55 lubuntu kernel: [ 8961.608924] print_req_error: I/O error, dev sdb, sector 103058280 Mar 21 00:58:55 lubuntu kernel: [ 8961.609098] EXT4-fs warning (device sdb5): ext4_end_bio:323: I/O error 10 writing to inode 293004 (offset 0 size 8192 starting block 9178804) Mar 21 00:58:55 lubuntu kernel: [ 8961.609104] Buffer I/O error on device sdb5, logical block 1109938 Mar 21 00:58:55 lubuntu kernel: [ 8961.609111] Buffer I/O error on device sdb5, logical block 1109939 Your description also provides for it being a user-created error condition. I've marked this bug as incomplete (due hardware issues), if you believe I'm in error please leave a comment as to why, and you can return the status to "New". I suggest you validate the health of your hardware (esp. disk by checking it's SMART status using `smartctl`, `gnome-disks` or whichever tool you prefer), and possibly the integrity of your partition table (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Smartmontools). I got another couple of days out of it without issue - so I think it's likely fixed. [Bug 1919143] Re: Update mutter to 3.36.9
I am a bit confused about the version scheme here. My "About" page in the settings says I am already on GNOME Version 3.36.8, but the mutter version is 3.36.7 and the gnome-shell version is 3.36.4. How is this "GNOME Version" determined? Shouldn't all the GNOME packages be on the same version 3.36.8 (https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/tree/3.36.8, https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/tree/3.36.8, ...)? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1919143 Title: Update mutter to 3.36.9 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/1919143/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1920187] Re: Installer failure Lenovo Yoga
I shut down, then reinstalled from usb. All up and running ok. I didn't want to go through the MS Windows setup (which I find particularly irksome, cumbersome and intrusive) which is probably why the Windows cache contained the metadata. [Bug 1920638] Re: 21.04 - GNOME problem
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. [Bug 1300211] Re: Can't install both gcc-multilib and gcc-arm-linux-gnueabihf
This is what worked for me, to build x86_32, x86_64, ARM and ARM64 UEFI drivers from a single Ubuntu 20.04 platform (which is actually an AppVeyor build environment): sudo update-alternatives --remove-all gcc sudo update-alternatives --remove-all g++ sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/gcc gcc /usr/bin/gcc-9 90 --slave /usr/bin/g++ g++ /usr/bin/g++-9 sudo -E apt-get install -y gcc-9-multilib gcc-9-aarch64-linux-gnu gcc-9-arm-linux-gnueabi sudo ln -s /usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu/asm/ /usr/local/include/asm sudo ln -s /usr/bin/aarch64-linux-gnu-gcc-9 /usr/bin/aarch64-linux-gnu-gcc sudo ln -s /usr/bin/aarch64-linux-gnu-gcc-ar-9 /usr/bin/aarch64-linux-gnu-gcc-ar sudo ln -s /usr/bin/arm-linux-gnueabi-gcc-9 /usr/bin/arm-linux-gnueabi-gcc sudo ln -s /usr/bin/arm-linux-gnueabi-gcc-ar-9 /usr/bin/arm-linux-gnueabi-gcc-ar If you are interested, you can find the AppVeyor build log, that demonstrates how all 4 versions of gcc were properly invoked, at https://ci.appveyor.com/project/pbatard/ntfs- 3g/builds/38316398?fullLog=true Note that this is a real-life scenario, where some developers actually need to produce UEFI executables, for all supported UEFI archs, in one go. As such, it would really be a lot nicer if a 'gcc-multilib gcc- aarch64-linux-gnu gcc-arm-linux-gnueabi' configuration was supported without having to resort to applying workarounds. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1300211 Title: Can't install both gcc-multilib and gcc-arm-linux-gnueabihf To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gcc-defaults/+bug/1300211/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1920619] [NEW] Epson Stylus SX535WD does not print in Ubuntu 20.04
Public bug reported: I have an Epson Stylus SX535WD, connected to the computer via USB. It prints correctly in Ubuntu 18.04. I recently upgraded to Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS, and it no longer prints. The setup wizard seems to work. It detects the printer correctly, and asks for permission to install drivers from Epson. When I try to print, a message appears on the screen saying that the job has been submitted. A few seconds later, another message appears, saying the job has completed, but no output appears. The job shows up as completed in the printer queue. I tried printing a test page (Settings -> Printers -> Additional Printer Settings -> right-click the printer -> Properties -> Print Test Page), and also printing a document from LibreOffice. I upgraded my hardware (motherboard and CPU) at the same time as Ubuntu, and thought that might be the cause of the problem, but I booted the computer from a live USB of Ubuntu 18.04, and the printer worked then. I followed the recommendations at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems, none of which fixed the problem. Everything that the page tells me to check looks OK. The printer has a built-in scanner, which works in 20.04. [Bug 1867668] Re: Visual artifacts in Gnome Shell when using the old 'intel' Xorg driver
Removing xserver-xorg-video-intel and 20-intel.conf did not work on my Intel NUC which is being used as a headless server. As it is a headless machine I control it from my PC using Remmina (VNC). The NUC does not have a monitor connected to it. When the NUC boots it searches for a monitor. If it can't find one it won't activate video. If so, Remmina VNC results in showing a black screen. In order to be able to see the NUC's desktop I need to "trick" it during boot into believing that a monitor is connected. This is done through 20-intel.conf. Its contents forces the NUC to believe that displays are connected: Section "Device" Identifier "intelgpu0" Driver "intel" Option "VirtualHeads" "2" EndSection Therefore, removing xserver-xorg-video-intel and 20-intel.conf resulted in that I could not see the NUC's desktop anymore via Remmina. As an experiment I connected a monitor to the NUC's HDMI port. In this case the artifacts are gone. I plan to try one alternative solution: plug a HDMI dummy adapter into the NUC's HDMI port. Then I might not need the mentioned code in 20-intel.conf any more. Then remove xserver-xorg-video-intel and 20-intel.conf, hoping that I can connect via Remmina. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1867668 Title: Visual artifacts in Gnome Shell when using the old 'intel' Xorg driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1867668/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
