[Bug 1933748] Re: Gnome wifi menu items jumping up and down make clicking risky

2021-06-27 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I think the main issue here is the erratic wifi reception, so that's a
kernel bug (or hardware or environmental). The GUI design is
understandably annoying in this case, but it's of secondary concern and
I can't find evidence of other people having the same problem. So low
priority for gnome-shell.

If you'd like to discuss the design further with the GNOME developers
then please open a new issue at:

  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/issues

But I suggest the most important thing here is to progress as a kernel
bug, so please run the following command on the affect system to collect
more information:

  apport-collect 1933748

[Bug 1931790] Re: Unable to mount btrfs RAID 1 filesystem after reboot - Error - device total_bytes should be at most X but found Y

2021-06-27 Thread Ravindran K
I tried to update Filesystem type (from 42 SFS to 83), which messed one
of the disks (luckily) and had to rebuild the RAID.. post which I found
that this specific issue is now gone. I can mount fine on any kernel
version..

Please feel free to close this.. I hope this help someone who is facing
this issue or faces this in future..

Thank you.

[Bug 1933789] [NEW] kubuntu impish daily qa-test install (manual sda1) - other system kernel panics

2021-06-27 Thread Chris Guiver
Public bug reported:

Kubuntu impish daily QA-test install to
-

System had two installs on it
sda1 - Lubuntu impish daily
sda2 (or whatever other partition was) - Lubuntu focal.3 daily

I used Manual partitioning to replace the impish install (ie. format &
use sda1)

** Expected result

(a) I can login to new impish install normally, and
(b) on reboot select the untouched focal install & use it too

** Actual result

(a) was achieved
(b) resulted in KERNEL PANIC

--

I'm going to mark this incomplete... I didn't test/boot the systems
earlier today, and can't recall when I last tested install... so I
cannot guarantee the issue didn't already exist. This report may
provide some clues; but it needs to be re-done I believe.

[Bug 1933748] Re: Gnome menu items jumping up and down make clicking risky

2021-06-27 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report. I've never seen this problem before. Can you
please try live booting (from USB) a newer version of Ubuntu:

  21.04: https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop
  21.10: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/

and tell us if the problem occurs there too?

[Bug 1933724] Re: Screen goes blank after login (Aspeed graphics)

2021-06-27 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The main issue appears to be:

> Failed to post KMS update: drmModePageFlip on CRTC 33 failed: Nicht
genügend Hauptspeicher verfügbar

The messages before that are expected and not errors.

To avoid this problem you should be able to select 'Ubuntu' on the login
screen, since it sounds like the problem is unique to the 'Ubuntu on
Wayland' option.

Does the problem happen without recovery mode? Full graphics support is
not meant to work in recovery mode.

Sounds like you're talking about a kernel version. Are you able to
select that old version in the grub/boot menu?

[Bug 1931799] Re: audio not working on Raspberry Pi 4

2021-06-27 Thread Daniel van Vugt
If it's a crash then please:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

Here is a minimal:

#include

using namespace std;

int main()
{
vector Container(3'000'000);
iota(begin(Container), end(Container), 1);

sort(execution::par, begin(Container), end(Container));

return 0;
}

Compiling raises the following pragma in header generated warning:

$ g++-11 test.cpp -o test -Wall -Werror -std=c++17 -ltbb && ./test

reference manual.’
21 | ("TBB Warning: tbb/task.h is deprecated. For details, please see

Compiling again with #define TBB_SUPPRESS_DEPRECATED_MESSAGES 1
prepended to the beginning and the warning disappears.

This appears to have crept in some how with the 11 series. The
header is indirectly including some deprecated Intel header
from the TBB library.

It depends on the version of TBB that is installed really. Looks like
Ubuntu 11.1.0 is using a much newer version. You really should file a
bug with Ubuntu about this issue since you are getting both GCC and TBB
from them. We won't fixing Ubuntu's compiler even with this bug filed
by the way.

[Bug 1933775] [NEW] libgcc-s1 and libstdc++6 depend on broken libtbb2 package

2021-06-27 Thread Kip Warner
Public bug reported:

The gcc-11 source package produces libgcc-s1 and (I think?) libstdc++6.
Both of these binary packages on Hirsute depend on libtbb2 version
2020.3-1. The latter contains deprecated APIs that create #pragma
generated warnings whenever is included.

[Bug 1933711] Re: defining tmpfs /tmp in autoinstall config fails

So https://github.com/canonical/subiquity/pull/993 should fix this. I've
built this PR into a snap and pushed it to the edge/pr-993 channel so if
you add this to your autoinstall.yaml:

refresh-installer:
   update: yes
   channel: "edge/pr-993"

it should work now. (If your install is offline, you should be able to
use https://github.com/mwhudson/livefs-editor to stuff the new snap into
an ISO).

I believe this is a bug with runit – the /var/lib/supervise directory is
no longer being created as part of the package install. There are two
options here:

Install daemontools-run instead (prior to installing qmail), since it’s an

[Bug 1933771] [NEW] Bluetooth headset random disconnects AX200

2021-06-27 Thread Almer S. Tigelaar
Public bug reported:

Using several different bluetooth headsets I find that the Bluetooth
functionality of the built-in AX200 module of my motherboard keeps
randomly disconnecting. I found that this has been fixed in recent Linux
firmware updates, but I am not sure that fix has landed yet in Ubuntu
Hirsute.

Herewith I am posting the link to exactly the issue I am having:
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/-/issues/1155

And the Linux Firmware commit that resolves this:
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git/commit/?id=73144e02dcff54529ab42d951de682740d204180

A related Fedora bug:
https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2021-93247f3274

It's difficult to relate the upstream kernel version firmware version in
which this was fixed (linux-firmware-20210511) to the version of the
linux-firmware Ubuntu package (for me). Perhaps someone can comment on
whether this has been merged in. I am still experiencing disconnects
with 1.197.1 at least.

Apologies, can we update it to using the attached patch?

It includes the fix by Jozsef from upstream:

"""
Fix patch "Parse port before trying by service name"
The patch broke parsing service names: number parsing failures
are hard errors which erase data, thus making impossible to
parse input as a string. Fix it by enabling soft (warning)
failures in the case of port number parsing.

[Bug 1829399] Re: Lid switch triggered suspend takes much longer than UI triggered suspend

2021-06-27 Thread Darko Veberic
there has been no progress on this issue, it's the same in ubuntu 21.04.
the behavior described in #15 is especially annoying since closing the
lid by mistake (while eg carrying it around) and opening it immediately
does not cancel the suspend, it comes 30s later no matter what one is
currently doing.

[Bug 1933701] Re: error right after installation finishes, desktop environment with everything looking big after first boot

2021-06-27 Thread Steve Langasek
The shim-signed installation error is caused by a failure with your
firmware preventing the package from accessing EFI variables.

But it is unrelated to the problem you're reporting regarding third-
party software installation. For that, we should reassign this bug to
ubiquity.

I used the command "watch -n1 cat /proc/interrupts". But when i pressed the

[Bug 1894618] Re: samba vfs glusterfs shares do not work because glusterfs.so is missing from samba-vfs-modules

2021-06-27 Thread hunter86_bg
If I recall corrctly, in rpm-based distroa there "hard" and "soft" dependencies.
Maybe there is such kind in deb too ?

I guess a soft dependency between the module and glusterfs is enough.

Another approach is like the PPA which will provide the module 'as-is'
and the end user is taking responsibility to take care of it.

[Bug 1933758] [NEW] Display resolution not properly identifying in Ubuntu 21.04

2021-06-27 Thread Midhun Mathew
Public bug reported:

OK I am using Ubuntu 21.04 on a Raspberry pi 4 model B 4GB ram.My Monitor is LG
Flatron E1942 with a resolution of 1366x768,It's a VGA monitor so I am using an
HDMI to VGA converter to connect it with the monitor. This resolution is not
automatically detected by Ubuntu, but it worked with Raspbian and Kali
Linux. Therefore I edited the config.txt file and added these following lines
hdmi_group=2,hdmi_mode=39 and hdmi_cvt=1366 768 60 3 0 0 1 otherwise the
display will go blank, after editing this the monitor used to work with Ubuntu
20 (but still was not perfect,it got some black vertical lines in gnome but it
worked perfectly fine with KDE-plasma)
but after upgrading it to 21.04 this configuration doesn't work anymore.

So at this point how the monitor work is like is this:
1)If a turn on pi with monitor connected to it the boot menu and raspberry pi
rainbow colors shows up,but the screen goes black once it enters gnome desktop.

2)If I connect the monitor only after the pi enters gnome. The monitors
shows up with a weird resolution(1280x720) but goes black if I open
settings.

3)If I connect the monitor after the pi enters gnome. The monitors shows
up with a weird resolution(1280x720) and I use xrandr in terminal to set
resolution "again to 1280x720",at this point I can open settings and
change the resolution to 1360x768.Once I set it to 1360x768 the display
is perfectly aligned,(I want this resolution every time I boot up
without doing all these adventures)

I have to repeat this step 3 every time I boot up the pi otherwise the screen
goes blank.
Kindly fix this bug.
Thanks

[Bug 1933028] Re: Power supply disconnection not recognized on Dell XPS 13 9310 w/5.10 OEM kernel

2021-06-27 Thread Ascaris
This problem exists in all kernels I have tried newer than 5.7,
including 5.11 HWE-Edge and several mainlines, including 5.12.x and
5.13.x (RC), as well as 5.10 OEM.

There was a problem identical to this reported at upower
(https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/upower/upower/-/issues/126), but it was
supposedly fixed with a kernel commit
(https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=992a60ed0d5e312ce9a485c9e12097ac82ae4b3e).
I'm still seeing the bug, however. Everything in the description in the
thread of comments at upower is what I am seeing to the letter. If the
laptop finishes POST and loads GRUB with the power disconnected, upower
will report the power supply state as offline from there forward, though
then the desktop environment responds correctly to power state changes.
If it finishes POST and loads GRUB with power connected, it reports the
power online from there forward, and that does prevent the desktop
environment from detecting power state changes.

This issue was also present in a live session of Manjaro I tried with
5.10.

[Bug 1933740] Re: package usrmerge 24ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: el subprocés «s'ha instal·lat el script usrmerge del paquet post-installation» retornà el codi d'eixida d'error 1

2021-06-27 Thread Andreu
After investigating what usrmerge does, I concluded that the problem is due to
my configuration. I use eclipse to manage some system files and this created a
.project file in directories /lib and /usr/lib, preventing that usrmerge can
merge this directories.
Removing the .project file from /lib directory fixes the problem.

[Bug 1827264] Re: ovs-vswitchd thread consuming 100% CPU

2021-06-27 Thread Trent Lloyd
Seems there is a good chance at least some of the people commenting or
affected by this bug are duplicate of Bug #1839592 - essentially a libc6
bug that meant threads weren't woken up when they should have been.
Fixed by libc6 upgrade to 2.27-3ubuntu1.3 in bionic.

[Bug 1878301] Re: Focal regression: poor discoverability for search in Ubuntu Software Center

2021-06-27 Thread Nederhoed
Hi Dan, I second your opinion and will also second your issue added to
the Gnome project.

As a 15+ year Ubuntu user it has always surpriosed me that in Software
the search was hidden; the only reason I open Software, is to find some
program to install.

Since I know my way, it never bothered me enough to actually file a
ticket. Until today, as it should be my responsibility too, to
contribute to the open source projects.

Cheers, Robert
