[Bug 1945160] [NEW] Caja significantly slower with large directories
Public bug reported: In 18.04 opening a directory with O(40,000) files took a minute or two. With 20.04.3 it takes 7 minutes and counting. Apparently, the algorithm has been changed to one which does not scale. Since Caja knows the size of the directory, it can estimate the number of files and can choose an appropriate algorithm. If I cannot even open the directory, Ubuntu 20.04.3 becomes useless. [Bug 1886169] Re: "nl80211 driver interface is not designed to be used with ap_scan=2"
Supplementary information you may find useful. The Wi-Fi module on Pi-4 is not able to act as an Access Point *and* scan for wi-fi addresses at the same time. On Raspbian, this is dealt with by (1) specifying a fixed channel; and (2) adding the following line to /etc/dhcpcd.conf: nohook wpa_supplicant and (3) disabling (masking?) the wpa_supplicant service. If the wpa_supplicant service is running, any attempt to scan for wi-fi devices will take down the access point connection. For some reason, on Rasbiam (Debian derived), the network manager *fork*s wpa_supplicant in order to do a wifi scan when restarting, if the wpa_supplicant service has been disabled or masked, unless the nohook wpa_supplicant line is added. This happens early in the network manager restart, and can cause various unpleasant symptoms ranging from occasional drops all the way up to a fullblown deathspiral of all network services depending on timing. I'm not sure what the equivalent fix is on Ubuntu; but my reading of the message is: "This device is not able to do wi-fi scans when operating as an access point". I'm currently running Ubuntu 21.04, which uses a different network stack, I think (no wpa_supplicant, no hostapd), so I can't try workarounds myself. It sounds like 18.04 is using the old network stack, so the raspbian changes will probably work on Ubuntu 18.04 as well. In the meantime, I'm going to resume my search for the equivalent fix for an almost identical problem on the new network stack used by 21.04. :-P -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1886169 Title: "nl80211 driver interface is not designed to be used with ap_scan=2" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wpasupplicant/+bug/1886169/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 452073]
Dear Jérôme, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone! [Bug 1935969] Re: Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS installer crash when letting the system determine size of additional LV
Thanks for the crash file and sorry for the slow response. From the crash file: Volume group "ubuntu-vg" has insufficient free space (6271 extents): 6272 required. We are only off by one! I think the lesson here is that we need to be more careful about LV sizes, this code is basically assuming one can take the size of the VG, divide it by two and create two LVs of that size but that's not really true, you can only create LVs whose size is a multiple of the extent size, which is by default 4MiB (and subiquity does not allow controlling this). ** Changed in: subiquity (Ubuntu) Status: New => Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1935969 Title: Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS installer crash when letting the system determine size of additional LV To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/subiquity/+bug/1935969/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1939015] Re: [Ubuntu 20.04.2 Server] Autoinstall max() arg failure with cloud-config LVM
Sorry for the late reply. This is very strange, the error is in code that really shouldn't be executing in this case. If you try 20.04.3 you should be able to start a shell after the install fails which will at least make debugging more possible. My only guess is that somehow subiquity thinks your block devices are unreasonably small (so somewhat related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/subiquity/+bug/1943609, although subiquity would have to think _all_ disks are small to hit this in your case I think). ** Changed in: subiquity (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1939015 Title: [Ubuntu 20.04.2 Server] Autoinstall max() arg failure with cloud- config LVM To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/subiquity/+bug/1939015/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1914685] Re: Please enable CONFIG_UBSAN_BOUNDS
So, 5.14.7 and NVIDIA 470.74 fixes the boot issue. However, isn't potentially harmful to leave CONFIG_UBSAN_TRAP enabled in production builds? The documentation for the flag seems to indicate that warnings would be turned into the errors. https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/lib/Kconfig.ubsan#L20 As I understand, CONFIG_UBSAN_TRAP is needed to enable CONFIG_UBSAN_LOCAL_BOUNDS, but the issue mentions CONFIG_UBSAN_BOUNDS. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1914685 Title: Please enable CONFIG_UBSAN_BOUNDS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1914685/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1939966] Re: [Asus TUF Gaming FA506IV] Random system stops
Alrighty, so, after having adjusted the grub configuration, this time around, it lasted about 16½ hours before coming to a freeze. Plus, actually, this time, it didn't outright blackscreen. [Bug 1945121] [NEW] Ubuntu auto-suspends when I unplug my laptop after not having used it for a few minutes.
Public bug reported: I'm using Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS I have my power settings so that Ubuntu will never auto-suspend if plugged in, but will do so after 20 minutes if on battery power. If I leave it plugged in but untouched for 20 minutes, and then unplug it (to move it to another room when I come back to it), then it suspends on the way there. It would seem more intuitive that unplugging/plugging in would be considered interaction, and would reset the delay. The expected behavior, in that case, would be that it gets unplugged, stays on, and then suspends after 20 minutes if there is no further interaction. I know any official fix would probably take a while, if one is even considered. Is there any workaround? [Bug 1939966] Re: [Asus TUF Gaming FA506IV] Random system stops
So, out of pure frustration, I wondered if maybe it was the particular SSD slot, so I decided to simply switch my SSDs across the slots on my motherboard (because the Kubuntu installation never crashed). Suddenly, now, that one was crashing, and the Xubuntu installation worked fine (for a while). so I thought it was the SSD slot. Then, the "good" slot started crashing randomly, too. I started looking around for my specific computer, and it turns out that the "soft lockup" is from a misconfiguration in the grub setup. I thought to myself, "I haven't touched my grub. The only time I ever did anything was the `sudo apt dist-upgrade` about three weeks ago." And then it hit me: the crashes started about a day or two after I did a dist-upgrade. So I started looking around, and I found this: https://github.com/jfinancial/linux/blob/main/AMD_Linux_Build.md and subsequently this: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1234299/amd- ryzen-5-3600-ubuntu-20-04-problems/1241636#1241636 so I went into /etc/default/grub and changed the line to: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash pci=assign-busses apicmaintimer idle=poll reboot=cold, hard" and did a `sudo update-grub`. So far, my computer has an uptime of around 13 hours, so this is looking promising. Also, I am never, ever, ever updating my kernel ever again, ever. Every time I do, something absolutely vitally, crucially important breaks. This is especially true about Arch and all Arch-based distros (which I'll never use again). I'll try leaving my computer turned on for a week and see if changing that grub line helps. [Bug 1945111] [NEW] Switching proprietary drivers on a not up-to-date system breaks it badly
Public bug reported: When a system is not fully up to date, mainly when there's a kernel update available, software-properties-gtk still allows to switch drivers, for example switching between nvidia drivers. Doing so will cause it to update the kernel, but not do a full upgrade. After the operation software-properties-gtk will suggest to reboot the machine and most likely cause the user to just do so. The problem with that is that linux-modules-extras will not be installed now and after the reboot the user is left with a broken system: Non- functioning graphics (well, llvmpipe still does if lucky) and what's even worse, no network drivers and depending on the machine maybe even without input device support. This will cause the user to require a second machine and a USB stick (and quite some knowledge) to recover the system. I've ran into this a couple of times now, seems reproducible. It is quite tricky to get out of this which IMO makes this a somewhat critical bug. ** Affects: software-properties (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1945111 Title: Switching proprietary drivers on a not up-to-date system breaks it badly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-properties/+bug/1945111/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
