by that test result that means that we are actually looking for a kernel
commit/fix.
The HWE kernel is, among other things, meant to provide new features and
better support for new hardware - so in your case you can just continue
to use that.
This is now fixed in Debian-unstable and Jammy-proposed.
It doesn't have to go to -release to consider it fixed.
The old version 9.x currently in -release didn't have the issue and the version
now in -proposed is fixed as well. Therefore this can be considered
fix-released for Jammy.

cloud-init crashed with NameError in parse_version(): name
This is not a NetworkManager problem. It is also reported by me in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1950385
and it is probably kernel bug.
The problem is described by ModemManager's developer in our discussion:
I've verified that this bug is fixed in all releases by version 27.4.1
currently in -proposed.
I'm attaching the script I used (based on Renan's comment above) and the
output for each release.
