[Bug 1784774] Re: snapd is not autofs aware and fails with nfs home dir

2022-04-24 Thread Miles
Running the snap 'hello' gives the following message in
/var/log/kern.log:

kernel: [25832.721379] audit: type=1400 audit(1650864430.846:486):
apparmor="ALLOWED" operation="open" profile="/usr/sbin/sssd"
name="/proc/26293/cmdline" pid=827 comm="sssd_nss" requested_mask="r"
denied_mask="r" fsuid=0 ouid=0

We disabled AppArmor with the same result.

Hello gave the error message:

cannot open path of the current working directory: Permission denied

[Bug 1969305] Re: Export XDG_CONFIG_HOME and XDG_DATA_HOME as well

2022-04-24 Thread Akbarkhon Variskhanov
It's one of the shell scripts in
https://git.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/tree/debian/local/Xsession.d,
which is then installed to /etc/X11/Xsession.d

The most appropriate would be 60x11-common_xdg_path, where CONFIG and
DATA dirs are exported from.

I'm on Xubuntu 20.04 but I checked the devel branch.

[Bug 1969984] Re: Plymouth Login Shows Badly on Multi-Screen Setup

2022-04-24 Thread Michael Mikowski
Here is the Ubuntu Studio Plymouth theme in use which is has scaling
implemented. This looks great across all attached screens.

We can likely create an updated Kubuntu Plymouth theme that is also
scaling to replace the existing one if there is interest.

** Summary changed:

- Plymouth Login Shows Badly on Multi-Screen Setup
+ Kubuntu Plymouth Shows Badly on Multi-Screen

** Description changed:

  Summary:

- The plymouth theme for startup and disk decryption is off-center on
- multi-monitor setups with varying resolutions.
+ The Kubuntu Plymouth theme for startup and disk decryption is off-center
+ on multi-monitor setups with varying resolutions.

  Steps to Reproduce:

  - Connect a 4k external display to a 1080p system.
  - Start Kubuntu 22.04 LTS

  Actual Results

The Plymouth startup and disk encryption graphic are shifted down and to
the right. This do NOT occur when using a single screen.

  Expected Results:

The theme and disk encryption graphic should either be centered on all
screens, or, as in Focal, should only be shown on the laptop screen.

  TODO

  - Test with more monitor resolutions

  See the attached images.

  Assessment:

This is likely due to a non-responsive (old-style) Plymouth theme. We
could likely create a responsive if it is acceptable.

[Bug 1970049] Re: Tick tick sound when USB Play on Xenyx302USB (PCM2902) enabled

2022-04-24 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
Hi,
this sounds like a duplicated issue of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-signed-hwe-5.13/+bug/1966066

Can you give the 5.13.0-41-generic proposed kernel a try?

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how
to enable and use -proposed. Thank you!

Same here on Razer Blade 15 Advanced (2022). I tried acpi_osi= in the

[Bug 1970142] [NEW] capabilities module of ansible 2.5.1 is broken on targets with libpcap >= 2.41

2022-04-24 Thread Ángel
Public bug reported:

Ansible 2.5.1+dfsg-1 as shipped in bionic has a capabilities module
which is broken on targets with libpcap >= 2.41

Upstream bugs:
https://github.com/ansible-collections/community.general/issues/993
https://github.com/ansible/ansible/issues/72662

https://github.com/ansible-collections/community.general/commit/07d123a71a5ad769aac4d04e7e189fbf5f957cd8

The easiest fix would simply to replace the bundled capabilities.py with the
latest from upstream:
https://github.com/ansible-collections/community.general/blob/main/plugins/modules/system/capabilities.py
(the only other two commits it received are not substantial, they remove
ANSIBLE_METADATA and add a FQDN to the EXAMPLES entry)

[Bug 1970141] [NEW] Desktop background is no longer displayed always solid black

2022-04-24 Thread John Collins
Public bug reported:

Hi I'm running Ubuntu 20.4 with the Apr 20 updates applied.

gnome-session:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 3.36.0-2ubuntu1
  Version table:
 3.36.0-2ubuntu1 500

I accept that this is "cosmetic" but it's still annoying.

I have two large monitors attached which I run as a large single
workspace across both screens.

I have been running this for years without problem over several Ubuntu
releases.

Following the recent upgrade (Apr 20 2022), my desktop wallpaper is no
longer displayed properly.

Almost all of it is covered in solid black except for a very small
sliver of the wallpaper at the bottom of each screen.

If I change the desktop background there is no effect (except for the
small sliver at the bottom of the screen) changes.

If I reboot, or if I log in as a different user, there is no change.

If I click "Activities" or press the Windows button, the menu of
desktops I can switch to is displayed with the correct wallpaper, but
when I switch to it it comes out all black on both screens (apart from
the icons, any windows and the sliver at the bottom of the screen).

I have 2 different laptops which I have upgraded also but those are OK.
I've not tried any dual-screen on them.

Possibly relevant is that I have an nVidia display controller.

It does appear to be a problem that has crept in with the most recent
update.

Everything else I do is unaffected as far as I can see but I'd just like
something different from the boring solid black.

Summary of the bug:
---
When I try to connect to gnome-remote-desktop using VNC to a Raspberry Pi 4
Model B Rev 1.4 (8Gb) under Ubuntu 22.04 LTS the VNC client can't connect
(connection is refused). The connection passes the Password check validation
but don't connect (sometimes shows screen garbage before disconnecting).

I've used several VNC clients (Remmina in Ubuntu and Real VNC in
Android) getting the same problem failing either in X11 or Wayland.

Notes:
- VNC connection does work in in previous Ubuntu 21.10 version with the same
architecture (arm64) and same Raspberry Pi.
- VNC connection also does work in amd64 machines with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and
gnome-remote-desktop 42.0-4ubuntu1, exactly the same software version that
doesn't work on arm64 (Raspberry Pi).

There is no apport info at all. Also there is almost no info in the
journal regarding this problem. When I try to connect to VNC server it
show this:

[Bug 1970057] Re: Qt6 QLibraryInfo returns wrong paths

2022-04-24 Thread tom stevens
One could imagine a more robust solution where the cmake function
file(REAL_PATH [BASE_DIRECTORY ] [EXPAND_TILDE])
was used to guarantee that QtQmakeHelpers.cmake resolved the relative
path used to compute QT_CONFIGURE_LIBLOCATION_TO_PREFIX_PATH in the same
manner that the supplied patch works at run time. This isn't necessary
the way the jammy build is set up, but it might be necessary in general.

[Bug 1970124] Re: duplicity backup fails with obscure error message Ubuntu 22.04

2022-04-24 Thread Michael Terry
I think that /tmp filename is a file that duplicity proceeds to throw
away. It copies files there, tries to unpack them, then cleans up after
itself (regardless of success). So that error message would be a lot
more useful if it indicated what the actual source file it had copied
from the storage location was named (like duplicity-vol1.gz or
whatever).

The error message makes it sound like the file it is trying to unpack is
corrupted. It's possible that a backup file got interrupted/cutoff
during writing/transfer?

[Bug 1970136] Re: Optical drive no longer usable after upgrading to kernel v5.4.0-100

2022-04-24 Thread Seth Goldberg
The tell-tale sign is the following repeated output in dmesg:

[ 478.477931] ata3.00: configured for PIO0
[ 483.532822] ata3: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 300)

[ 486.564367] ata3: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 300)
... repeats forever ...

Booting back to 5.4.0-99 allows the drive to work.

[Bug 1876632] Re: [nvidia] Corrupted/missing shell textures when switching users or resuming from suspend

2022-04-24 Thread Marcos Alano
I tried to set both options mentioned on comment #11 and with X11 after resume
I got corrupted lock screen and corrupted shell. I had to restart shell with
alt+f2 and type r. Furthermore, I think this is the kind of problem the bug
talks about.
I have a laptop with an option on BIOS to always use the NVIDIA card instead of
hybrid approach, so in some cases laptops will be affected too because they act
as desktops in this aspect.

[Bug 1970127] Re: Ubuntu-22.04 Live CD not booting on HP ENVY X360 notebook (Ryzen 7 3700U)

2022-04-24 Thread kolAflash
Booting with "safe graphics" worked.
And afterwards also normal booting worked.

Could this be something about live system persistence on the usb
storage?

Is there a way to completely disable persistence when booting the live system
from usb storage?
Maybe a boot parameter?

[Bug 1970132] [NEW] Can't uninstall gnome-tweaks from the "Ubuntu Software" GUI

2022-04-24 Thread João Pedro Seara
Public bug reported:

Since upgrading to Jammy, gnome-tweaks can not be uninstalled from the
application "Ubuntu Software".

The error message is the following: Unable to remove "GNOME Tweaks": no
packages to remove

It can, however be installed with no problem.

Reproducer:

1. Install gnome-tweaks using either apt or the "Ubuntu Software" GUI
2. Try to uninstall it in "Ubuntu Software" GUI by clicking on the red trash bin

Also tested in 20.04. No issues there.

Could this be a side effect of the package name change from "gnome-
tweak-tool" to "gnome-tweaks"?

Check attached image.

** Affects: gnome-tweaks (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1970117] Re: Atheros firmware missing in Ubuntu 22.04

2022-04-24 Thread Jeremy
Something is also wrong with the kernel source as these older Atheros
wifi devices that used the ath9k wifi module had bluetooth devices that
used the ath3k-1.fw firmware not the dfu files like the ath10k wifi/BT

I would bet we need https://www.spinics.net/lists/stable/msg524224.html
to fix this

[Bug 1970130] [NEW] tracker-extract recurring metadata insertion failure

2022-04-24 Thread tofuser
Public bug reported:

Hello,

This bug is related to package tracker-extract version 2.3.3-2 on Ubuntu
20.04.4 LTS.

For some text files, the following error is written every 4 seconds or so to my
syslog file:
Apr 23 22:46:59 air tracker-extract[10376]: Could not insert metadata for item
"file:///home/tof/Documents/comptes/cultura.txt": constraint failed (strerror
of errno (not necessarily related): Ressource temporairement non disponible)
Apr 23 22:46:59 air tracker-extract[10376]: If the error above is recurrent for
the same item/ID, consider running "tracker-extract" in the terminal with the
TRACKER_VERBOSITY=3 environment variable, and filing a bug with the additional
information

The consequence of this bug is to generate log files of the order of
130MB per day and to solicit permanently the hard disk.

As the error is recurrent, I give you aditionnal informations requested:

[Bug 1970057] Re: Qt6 QLibraryInfo returns wrong paths

2022-04-24 Thread tom stevens
This issue appears on jammy because /lib is a symbolic link, and the
/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu entry in the loader search path is used to find
libQt6Core.
The cmake generated qconfig.cpp contains this line:
#define QT_CONFIGURE_LIBLOCATION_TO_PREFIX_PATH "../../"
So, prefixFromQtCoreLibraryHelper() computes prefixdir as
/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/../../
and returns /.
Note if /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu had been used to find libQt6Core by the
loader, then prefixFromQtCoreLibraryHelper() would have computed prefixdir as
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/../../, and returned /usr, which would have worked.

Instead of messing with the loader search path, or messing with cmake to
compute QT_CONFIGURE_LIBLOCATION_TO_PREFIX_PATH correctly given the
loader search path, the attached patch just resolves any symbolic link
so libdir becomes /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu instead of
/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu and prefixFromQtCoreLibraryHelper() returns /usr.

[Bug 1970126] Re: gqrx crash on startup with SIGSEGV in gr::funcube::fcdpp::make()

2022-04-24 Thread Clayton Smith
Hi,

I'm the maintainer of Gqrx. As noted in https://github.com/gqrx-
sdr/gqrx/issues/1120#issuecomment-1107676551, the crash occurs in the
gr-funcube package, and might be due to a faulty Debian patch made to
that package. So this isn't a Gqrx bug per se, although it does prevent
Gqrx from starting when a Funcube Dongle input is selected.

[Bug 1970127] [NEW] Ubuntu-22.04 Live CD not booting on HP ENVY X360 notebook (Ryzen 7 3700U)

2022-04-24 Thread kolAflash
Public bug reported:

The ubuntu-22.04-desktop-amd64.iso live cd does not boot on a HP ENVY
X360 notebook (Ryzen 7 3700U).

Model:
HP ENVY X360
13-ar0777ng
9YN58EA#ABD

After a few minutes the screen simply switches to black. No possibility
to get a console by pressing CTRL-ALT-F1, F2, ...

I removed the boot options "quiet splash" and recorded the boot via video.
(just ask if you need the full video)
I attach a significantly looking screenshot from that video, showing a kernel
bug message.

Currently the notebook runs with Ubuntu-20.04 using the Linux-5.11 HWE kernel.
But suspend to memory isn't working.

[Bug 1944468] Re: Electron applications all crash upon launch

2022-04-24 Thread Ian
"Expect? Oh yes, expect.." - Marvin, in The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the
Galaxy, fit the 7th.

Two Electron-based programs I use that don't work with Jammy are
BalenaEtcher (only works if run as root) and Code42 (the desktop
application for Crashplan for Small Businesses online backup, which
specifically refuses to run as root).

As both are very definitely third party projects, this would seem to be
the place to mention that here: it's no longer "all" applications
crashing on launch, just "some".

I will try the PPA and see what happens.
