[Bug 1969984] Re: Plymouth Login Shows Badly on Multi-Screen Setup
Here is the Ubuntu Studio Plymouth theme in use which is has scaling implemented. This looks great across all attached screens. Steps to Reproduce: - Connect a 4k external display to a 1080p system. - Start Kubuntu 22.04 LTS Actual Results The Plymouth startup and disk encryption graphic are shifted down and to the right. This do NOT occur when using a single screen. Expected Results: The theme and disk encryption graphic should either be centered on all screens, or, as in Focal, should only be shown on the laptop screen. TODO - Test with more monitor resolutions See the attached images. Assessment: This is likely due to a non-responsive (old-style) Plymouth theme. [Bug 1970133] Re: Can't resume from standby
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Libera.chat. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1970133/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1970142] [NEW] capabilities module of ansible 2.5.1 is broken on targets with libpcap >= 2.41
Public bug reported: Ansible 2.5.1+dfsg-1 as shipped in bionic has a capabilities module which is broken on targets with libpcap >= 2.41 Upstream bugs: https://github.com/ansible-collections/community.general/issues/993 https://github.com/ansible/ansible/issues/72662 https://github.com/ansible-collections/community.general/commit/07d123a71a5ad769aac4d04e7e189fbf5f957cd8 The easiest fix would simply to replace the bundled capabilities.py with the latest from upstream: https://github.com/ansible-collections/community.general/blob/main/plugins/modules/system/capabilities.py (the only other two commits it received are not substantial, they remove ANSIBLE_METADATA and add a FQDN to the EXAMPLES entry) ** Affects: ansible (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1970142 Title: capabilities module of ansible 2.5.1 is broken on targets with libpcap >= 2.41 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ansible/+bug/1970142/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1970141] [NEW] Desktop background is no longer displayed always solid black
Public bug reported: Hi I'm running Ubuntu 20.4 with the Apr 20 updates applied. gnome-session: Installed: (none) Candidate: 3.36.0-2ubuntu1 Version table: 3.36.0-2ubuntu1 500 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/universe amd64 Packages 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/universe i386 Packages gnome-shell: Installed: 3.36.9-0ubuntu0.20.04.2 Candidate: 3.36.9-0ubuntu0.20.04.2 Version table: *** 3.36.9-0ubuntu0.20.04.2 500 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal-updates/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3.36.4-1ubuntu1~20.04.2 500 500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal-security/main amd64 Packages 3.36.1-5ubuntu1 500 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/main amd64 Packages I accept that this is "cosmetic" but it's still annoying. I have two large monitors attached which I run as a large single workspace across both screens. I have been running this for years without problem over several Ubuntu releases. Following the recent upgrade (Apr 20 2022), my desktop wallpaper is no longer displayed properly. Almost all of it is covered in solid black except for a very small sliver of the wallpaper at the bottom of each screen. If I change the desktop background there is no effect (except for the small sliver at the bottom of the screen) changes. If I reboot, or if I log in as a different user, there is no change. If I click "Activities" or press the Windows button, the menu of desktops I can switch to is displayed with the correct wallpaper, but when I switch to it it comes out all black on both screens (apart from the icons, any windows and the sliver at the bottom of the screen). I have 2 different laptops which I have upgraded also but those are OK. I've not tried any dual-screen on them. Possibly relevant is that I have an nVidia display controller. It does appear to be a problem that has crept in with the most recent update. Everything else I do is unaffected as far as I can see but I'd just like something different from the boring solid black. The connection passes the Password check validation but don't connect (sometimes shows screen garbage before disconnecting). I've used several VNC clients (Remmina in Ubuntu and Real VNC in Android) getting the same problem failing either in X11 or Wayland. Notes: - VNC connection does work in in previous Ubuntu 21.10 version with the same architecture (arm64) and same Raspberry Pi. - VNC connection also does work in amd64 machines with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and gnome-remote-desktop 42.0-4ubuntu1, exactly the same software version that doesn't work on arm64 (Raspberry Pi). [Bug 1970057] Re: Qt6 QLibraryInfo returns wrong paths
One could imagine a more robust solution where the cmake function file(REAL_PATH [BASE_DIRECTORY ] [EXPAND_TILDE]) was used to guarantee that QtQmakeHelpers.cmake resolved the relative path used to compute QT_CONFIGURE_LIBLOCATION_TO_PREFIX_PATH in the same manner that the supplied patch works at run time. [Bug 1970124] Re: duplicity backup fails with obscure error message Ubuntu 22.04
I think that /tmp filename is a file that duplicity proceeds to throw away. It copies files there, tries to unpack them, then cleans up after itself (regardless of success). So that error message would be a lot more useful if it indicated what the actual source file it had copied from the storage location was named (like duplicity-vol1.gz or whatever). The error message makes it sound like the file it is trying to unpack is corrupted. It's possible that a backup file got interrupted/cutoff during writing/transfer? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1970124 Title: duplicity backup fails with obscure error message Ubuntu 22.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/duplicity/+bug/1970124/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1876632] Re: [nvidia] Corrupted/missing shell textures when switching users or resuming from suspend
I tried to set both options mentioned on comment #11 and with X11 after resume I got corrupted lock screen and corrupted shell. I had to restart shell with alt+f2 and type r. Furthermore, I think this is the kind of problem the bug talks about. I have a laptop with an option on BIOS to always use the NVIDIA card instead of hybrid approach, so in some cases laptops will be affected too because they act as desktops in this aspect. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1876632 Title: [nvidia] Corrupted/missing shell textures when switching users or resuming from suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell/+bug/1876632/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1970127] Re: Ubuntu-22.04 Live CD not booting on HP ENVY X360 notebook (Ryzen 7 3700U)
Booting with "safe graphics" worked. And afterwards also normal booting worked. Could this be something about live system persistence on the usb storage? [Bug 1970057] Re: Qt6 QLibraryInfo returns wrong paths
This issue appears on jammy because /lib is a symbolic link, and the /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu entry in the loader search path is used to find libQt6Core. The cmake generated qconfig.cpp contains this line: #define QT_CONFIGURE_LIBLOCATION_TO_PREFIX_PATH "../../" So, prefixFromQtCoreLibraryHelper() computes prefixdir as /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/../../ and returns /. Note if /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu had been used to find libQt6Core by the loader, then prefixFromQtCoreLibraryHelper() would have computed prefixdir as /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/../../, and returned /usr, which would have worked. Instead of messing with the loader search path, or messing with cmake to compute QT_CONFIGURE_LIBLOCATION_TO_PREFIX_PATH correctly given the loader search path, the attached patch just resolves any symbolic link so libdir becomes /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu instead of /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu and prefixFromQtCoreLibraryHelper() returns /usr. ** Patch added: "qlibraryinfo_symlink.patch" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qt6-base/+bug/1970057/+attachment/5583206/+files/qlibraryinfo_symlink.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1970057 Title: Qt6 QLibraryInfo returns wrong paths To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qt6-base/+bug/1970057/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1970126] Re: gqrx crash on startup with SIGSEGV in gr::funcube::fcdpp::make()
Hi, I'm the maintainer of Gqrx. As noted in https://github.com/gqrx- sdr/gqrx/issues/1120#issuecomment-1107676551, the crash occurs in the gr-funcube package, and might be due to a faulty Debian patch made to that package. Model: HP ENVY X360 13-ar0777ng 9YN58EA#ABD After a few minutes the screen simply switches to black. No possibility to get a console by pressing CTRL-ALT-F1, F2, ... I removed the boot options "quiet splash" and recorded the boot via video. (just ask if you need the full video) I attach a significantly looking screenshot from that video, showing a kernel bug message. Currently the notebook runs with Ubuntu-20.04 using the Linux-5.11 HWE kernel. But suspend to memory isn't working. [Bug 1944468] Re: Electron applications all crash upon launch
"Expect? Oh yes, expect.." - Marvin, in The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, fit the 7th. Two Electron-based programs I use that don't work with Jammy are BalenaEtcher (only works if run as root) and Code42 (the desktop application for Crashplan for Small Businesses online backup, which specifically refuses to run as root). As both are very definitely third party projects, this would seem to be the place to mention that here: it's no longer "all" applications crashing on launch, just "some". I will try the PPA and see what happens. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1944468 Title: Electron applications all crash upon launch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glibc/+bug/1944468/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1970126] [NEW] gqrx crash on startup with SIGSEGV in gr::funcube::fcdpp::make()
Public bug reported: After installing Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and installing gqrx ("gqrx-sdr") from the repositories, gqrx crashes consistently on startup. It worked fine on 21.10. The SDR is a Funcube Pro+. I raised a bug on github gqrx-sdr: https://github.com/gqrx- sdr/gqrx/issues/1120 At the moment, it looks as if the gqrx-sdr package is unusable due to a change in gr-funcube.
