[Bug 2055862] [NEW] ovn-vif ci: the CI pipeline fails due to too old scapy

2024-03-03 Thread Frode Nordahl
Public bug reported:

The upstream OVN VIF CI pipeline currently fails due to a too old
version of scapy.

This condition is visible in the "dns lookup : EDNS" test and the following

This test works for the upstream OVN CI because they are running the
testsuite inside a container based on the latest Ubuntu version [0].

We need to do something similar for the OVN VIF CI.

[Bug 2055845] [NEW] httpcomponents-client fails to build from source in noble

2024-03-03 Thread Vladimir Petko
Public bug reported:

httpcomponents-client contains an implicit dependency on slf4j-java.

Last time it was build successfully against libcommons-log-java 1.2[1]

Support for slf4j was added after its release[2][3]

Debian and Ubuntu have slf4j 1.7.32-1 which calls
org.apache.commons.logging.LogFactory.getLog[4].

This causes exception in httpclient-cache tests[5]:

java.lang.IllegalStateException: Recursive update

[Bug 2055842] [NEW] pulseaudio: request backporting of upstream patch

2024-03-03 Thread mokabar
Public bug reported:

i've been investigating bugs of the gstreamer backend of qt
(QTBUG-122424, QTBUG-122423). it seems that we run into a pulseaudio bug
that has been fixed in pulseaudio-17.

what would it take to backport the corresponding fix?

the issue).

[Bug 2038340] Re: clang packages in 22.04 have the wrong libstdc++-*-dev dependency

2024-03-03 Thread Tianxing Yang
Can confirm this.

OS: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS

Clang version:
```
Ubuntu clang version 14.0.0-1ubuntu1.1
Target: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu
Thread model: posix
InstalledDir: /usr/bin
C++ code example:
```c++
#include

using std::cout;
using std::endl;

int main(int argc, char** argv) {
cout << "Hello, world!" << endl;
return 0;
}
```
Tried `clang++ -v main.cc`, and got this:
[Bug 2055837] [NEW] understand conform test failures on armhf
2024-03-03 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
Public bug reported:
I xfailed a whole stack of the "conform" tests on armhf, which
presumably fail because of the change in default size of time_t (and
off_t). We should work out what is going on here before release -- maybe
leaving them xfail is appropriate but I'm not confident to say that at
this time.
[Bug 2051838] Re: /usr/libexec/gdm-wayland-session: Error: WaylandMessage::Write() too many files to send
2024-03-03 Thread Steve
The Firefox issue can be found at:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1882449
The issue has been closed and supposedly fixed. The target milestone has
been set to 125, which I assume means that it should be included in the
Firefox 125 release planned for 16 April 2024. In the meantime, the
recommended workaround is to run Firefox with
`MOZ_DISABLE_WAYLAND_PROXY=1`.
[Bug 2054171] Re: dhcpcd hook breaks when using libc6-prof's libc.so.6
2024-03-03 Thread Gregory Szorc
I applied the patch and ran `update-initramfs -u` with
`/lib/libc6-prof/x86_64-linux-gnu` at the front of my dynamic linker
search path and it seemed to work. Even installed a new kernel update
with the patch in place and the system rebooted into the new kernel.
That's better than before, where the aborted initramfs run resulted in a
non-working boot configuration.
Thanks for the patch!
[Bug 2052457] Re: libreoffice latest version not detecting my java installation
2024-03-03 Thread jorritlinnert
I've dug a little deeper into the possible reason why the JRE cannot be found:
All installed JRE's are installed under a subdirectory of the /usr directory.
When I try to select the JRE to use, I notice that this Snap does not have any
permission to access the /usr directory.
Am I missing some alternative path?
[Bug 2055825] [NEW] Upgrade from 20.04 to 22.04 failed with "Fatal: unexpected error from getentropy: Invalid argument"
2024-03-03 Thread Koteswara Uppalapati
Public bug reported:
Upgrade from 20.04 to 22.04 failed with "Fatal: unexpected error from
getentropy: Invalid argument". We have fips-updates enabled thru Ubuntu
pro subscription. Tried to upgrade from 18.04 to 22.04. Upgrade from
18.04 to 204 is successful but upgrade from 20.04 to 22.04 failed. Apt
or do-release-upgrade commands no longer working after the upgrade
failed so we have to restore the host to the Ubuntu 20.04 snapshots.
[Bug 2054621] Re: PHP crashes on Laravel 9+ with certain extensions
2024-03-03 Thread Brian Morton
** Description changed:
  SRU Justification
  [ Impact ]
  Invoking reflection via the observer API on a class with an attribute
  annotation causes a dangling pointer and segmentation fault. Certain PHP
  extensions may register an observer of an attribute instantiation using
  reflection. Since Laravel 9+ and Symfony make use of attribute
  annotations, it's a fairly common case that can be reproduced using the
  Datadog PHP extension and any Laravel application. See
  https://github.com/DataDog/dd-trace-php/issues/1734.
  This bug was fixed in PHP 8.1.3 https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=81430 in
  the PR https://github.com/php/php-src/pull/7885/files
- This bug potentially impacts the stability of the SRU release for anyone
+ This bug potentially impacts the stability of the LTS release for anyone
  using Laravel or Symfony which are very popular frameworks alongside
  tracing extensions.
  [ Test Plan ]
  Run the test suite for php8.1 with the test case (but not the fix) from
  the attached patch. You will observe "Bug #81430 (Attribute
  instantiation frame accessing invalid frame pointer)
  [ext/zend_test/tests/observer_bug81430_1.phpt]" in the failed tests
  section.
  After the patch is fully applied, both new tests pass.
  [ Where problems could occur ]
  Could potentially impact the performance or stability of reflection
  operations, but this is a fairly old patch at this point.
** Patch removed: "fix-attribute-instantion-dangling-pointer.patch"
[Bug 732560] Re: iptables with geoip does not work
2024-03-03 Thread Oibaf
Hi, since Ubuntu 10.10 geoip has been reworked a lot. The official
documentation is now at: https://inai.de/projects/xtables-
addons/geoip.php
The tools are now also included:
/usr/bin/xt_geoip_query
/usr/libexec/xtables-addons/xt_geoip_build
/usr/libexec/xtables-addons/xt_geoip_build_maxmind
/usr/libexec/xtables-addons/xt_geoip_dl
/usr/libexec/xtables-addons/xt_geoip_dl_maxmind
and each one has its own man page.
Let us know if this is fixed with a newer Ubuntu.
[Bug 2055455] Re: dnsmasq-base causes network device virbr0 to shut down
2024-03-03 Thread Marc Deslauriers
That is great news, I'm glad we've identified the root cause of the
problem and you have successfully resolved it.
I will mark this bug as invalid since, while the dnsmasq update did
change behaviour, the behaviour change revealed a configuration issue
rather than being an actual regression.
Thanks!
I deleted the files in the /etc/apt/sources.list.d and then it opened normally
except all the sources where unselected.
When software and properties is opened again just tick the appropriate sources
from the first tab and select close and reload at the prompt. After that it has
worked normally again.
[Bug 2055818] [NEW] Intermittent UI freezes since LTS HWE linux 6.5.0-18
2024-03-03 Thread Dennis Gnad
Public bug reported:
When running the HWE kernel linux-6.5.0-18 and newer in Ubuntu 22.04.4
LTS ( 6.5.0-18.18~22.04.1 ), I get intermittent freezes of about 1-5
seconds of the whole UI (even the mouse pointer stops moving). Sound
continues to work. There is absolutely nothing logged in the kernel or
any other system logs.
I downgraded the kernel in a current up-to-date Ubuntu 22.04.4, and it's
running perfectly fine with linux-image-6.5.0-17-generic (
6.5.0-17.17~22.04.1 ).
As intuition I suspect amdgpu or its interaction with firmware, since
there is nothing logged in the kernel and its a graphical issue. I
couldn't find the patch log of the ubuntu kernel, but vanilla 6.5.17 to
6.5.18 has some amdgpu patches which I guess might be involved, if
ubuntu 6.5.0-17 to 6.5.0-18 has anything to do with those vanilla kernel
versions.
I am attaching the two files (version.log and lspci-vnvn.log called no-
freezes_version.log and no-freezes_lspci-vnvn.log) when no freezes
happen now (kernel 6.5.0-17). After a reboot I will attach the ones when
freezes happen (rebooted with current HWE LTS kernel),
1)
> lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS
Release:22.04
2)  linux-generic-hwe-22.04: Installed: 6.5.0.21.21~22.04.11
3) No freezes
4) Intermittent UI freezes of 1-5 seconds including mouse pointer when
starting multimedia applications, looking at images, etc. But no audio
freezes or anything. Nothing logged in system or kernel logs when it
happens.
The freeze typically happens (but might not be always like that), for
instance when starting a new youtube video in firefox or chrome, but
subsequent ones work fine for a while. However, it might also happen
when looking at a newly received image in any messenger app, it is not
exclusive to firefox, or youtube, or videos.
** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
