To everyone experiencing the mp3 installation script crash/hang:
Please try to provide crash reports if Amarok crashes on trying to
install mp3 from within Amarok. Also provide a detailed description of
your system, the steps you took and the buttons you pressed to try to

That seems like a disappointing resolution to this bug. What is the
feasibility of the following possible solutions:
1) enable --with-mp4v2 in debian/rules even though libmp4v2-0 won't be
installed on an install with only main. Would trying to tag mp4 files
cause a crash or just not work
Please make sure you're running the latest amarok, 1.4.5-0ubuntu6, and
then try again. Then give us a detailed description of what the dialog
boxes say and what you clicked that caused mp3 to not be installed.
Thanks

Please make sure you have amarok 1.4.5-0ubuntu6 installed and try this
again. To check, run `apt-cache policy amarok`. Thanks

(Feisty) Amarok crashes when trying to install MP3 support fix released doesn't
work

Not particularly. I'm using amarok 1.4.5-0ubuntu2~edgy1 and don't have
this problem. I can skip around in songs based on my hard drive just
fine.
What format are these files in? What media engine are you using? What
specific package of amarok are you using? (`apt-cache policy amarok`)

Pascal: it looks like you're using Amarok 1.4.5-0ubuntu5 instead of
-0ubuntu6, which has mp3 script fixes. Try upgrading and then
installing mp3 support again. If it still doesn't work, let me know
step by step what you did and we'll try to figure out what's going on
here :)

Yes, it is a dupe of bug 87469. I haven't played with apport much, but
the necessary information did come through just fine to launchpad.
I'm marking it a dupe.
