[Bug 1786671] [NEW] hamburger menu should be mentioned in https://help.ubuntu.com/stable/ubuntu-help/net-wireless-hidden.html.en
Public bug reported: On the webpage https://help.ubuntu.com/stable/ubuntu-help/net-wireless- hidden.html.en , step 4 currently reads "Click the Connect to Hidden Network… button.". This is confusing because that item is hidden in the hamburger menu on the upper right. Instead, step 4 should read something like: "Click the hamburger menu button (the button near the upper right corner of the window with three horizontal lines on it), and then, in the menu that comes up, click the Connect to Hidden Network… button." ** Affects: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1786671 Title: hamburger menu should be mentioned in https://help.ubuntu.com/stable /ubuntu-help/net-wireless-hidden.html.en To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-docs/+bug/1786671/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 919470] [NEW] gnome-terminal and terminator slow under moderate load
Public bug reported: Under Unity-2D 11.10, when running a program which rapidly outputs a lot of text to the terminal, both gnome-terminal and terminator respond sluggishly; keyboard input into the terminal takes a long time to be accepted, switching workspaces to or from the workspace displaying the offending terminal window takes a few seconds. Also, dragging the scrollbar to scroll takes forever in both gnome- terminal and terminator; the scrollbar does not jump to the desired location but slowly moves towards it; during this time the terminal is unresponsive. This did not occur in Natty under Gnome 2. This does not occur in xterm. See also https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/850649 . I am not positive that this bug lies in xorg, but it is more general that gnome-terminal, and also a comment in that thread requested that someone do a ubuntu-bug xorg in order to capture graphics config info. [Bug 727098] [NEW] Place Windows sporadically fails to set fixed viewport on windows started by Startup Applications
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubuntu-desktop I placed some terminals, firefox, and emacs in Startup Applications. I used Compiz's Place Windows functionality to tell Compiz to place these windows on specific viewports. I verified that starting the application manually caused the window to be placed appropriately. However, logging out and logging back in, the windows were not placed appropriately. Specifically, one of my startup applications is /usr/bin/gnome-terminal --title 'Term 3' and I have a Place Windows-Windows with fixed viewport rule with precondition title=Term 3 that places the window at position 3,1. This rule seems to work every time when I execute /usr/bin/gnome-terminal --title 'Term 3' during the session, but it only works sporadically on the Term 3 window that appears at startup. My initial hypothesis is that Startup Applications started the applications before Compiz was ready, and then Compiz Place Windows did not want to move windows that already existed. [Bug 726431] Re: session saving (wishlist)
thanks, no, I don't plan to work on it, I'm just interested in the feature, particularly for window placement (I'm less interested in resumption of state within the application). At the current time, I know of no way in Ubuntu 11.04 to have applications startup automatically upon login and appear at specified Compiz viewports. Devilspie apparently can only send windows to the first row of Compiz viewports ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/devilspie/+bug/380880 ), and Compiz's Place Windows feature only works sporadically on windows created by Startup Applications ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-meta/+bug/727098 ). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/726431 Title: session saving (wishlist) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 727104] [NEW] Desktop Wall Edge Flip Pointer stops working until you drag a window
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz Whenever i open CompizConfig Settings Manager (i suspect there are other ways to trigger the problem also), Edge Flip Pointer stops working (the problem persists even if i then close the CompizConfig window) -- if i move the cursor to the edge of the screen, i don't flip to the next viewport. Dragging any window fixes the problem (even attempting to alt- drag a maximized window), and then if move the pointer to the edge of the screen, it flips normally again. [Bug 726353] [NEW] second monitor displays random flickering
Public bug reported: Graphics card is using Intel driver and is reported by Intel driver as Intel Arrandale. Second monitor is Dell U2410 (successfully detected by xorg and noted in /var/log/Xorg.0.log). Machine is a Fujitsu T580 laptop. When second monitor is attached, laptop screen goes blank and Dell monitor flickers with various patterns (or sometimes stays blank). Problem is 100% repeatable. There is no crash, and I can ctrl-alt-F1 to make text mode successfully appear on the laptop screen. Disconnecting external monitor, ctrl-alt-F1 and then ctrl-alt-F7 (or F8, depending) successfully restores X on my laptop screen every time. Problem does NOT occur if I boot with the kernel from package linux- image-2.6.35-22-generic. Problem DOES occur if I boot with the kernel from package linux-image-2.6.38-5-generic. Problem DOES occur if I boot with the mainline kernel from linux-image-2.6.38-999-generic_2.6.38-999.201102260905_amd64.deb (found at http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/daily/current/linux-image-2.6.38-999-generic_2.6.38-999.201102260905_amd64.deb ). Problem occurs whether or not I am running a window manager. Problem occurs with both the xorg package versions from maverick and from natty. Thanks for your help.
