mechanism for mapping touch input to a region of the X display, but
there's no graphical user interface tool for setting the mapping. You

We found a crashes in geis related to initialization in X. We believe
it's the cause of the error, so we uploaded the fix for it to Ubuntu.

Actually, I saw in an email thread that it does work for single touch
usage. It must be a wacom touchscreen since that's the only other
pointing input device that X sees. Wacom devices are either single or
two touch devices. You can try geistest to see if any two touch gestures
are found, but if

the device is multitouch or not. If we determine it is single touch only
we will move the bug to invalid. Otherwise, we'll leave it at
triaged until someone figures out how to enable the multitouch
features of the device.

Both armel and ppc failed to build due to some x86 specific assembly. It
is my understanding that this is a bug that should be fixed by uploading
a new package that builds only the x86 arches.
I tried to implement this today, and I think the input module tweaks to
synaptics aren't too bad. However, I realized that many more tweaks
would be needed to the server as well. I'm not comfortable adding in
this much change this late in the cycle, so I'm going to change this bug
so that it is

utouch-compiz only exists in the archive for the purpose of developing
the utouch stack post-natty. It currently does nothing useful. Thus, I'm
closing this as won't fix.

For some reason, I can now reproduce the bug. What I have verified is
that the XInput 1.x events look to be generated properly. However, they
are likely only now being sent without all the valuators set in every
input event. This is a change in the X server 1.10. The protocol has
always
changed: xserver-xorg-input-evdev (Ubuntu) = xorg-server
(Ubuntu)

A dissention came up, but the argument seemed to need some gestation :).
I'm calling open season on this patch, but unless a meaningful argument
against it is raised this will be pushed into natty after the beta 1
