I wonder where that folder came from. Was this upgraded to Intrepid from
what was originally a fresh install of Hardy, or did you upgrade to
Hardy from an even earlier Ubuntu version?

Ted, I agree - in fact, Pidgin already sets away status based on idle
time of the IM client. I'm sure it could easily be extended to set away
status when the screen is locked. I might open another report for this.
