[Bug 1240215] Re: changing the default arches in import_pxe_files prevents maas-import-ephemerals from running

2013-11-01 Thread Chris Glass
This is still affecting users of the 1.4+bzr1693+dfsg-0ubuntu2 pacakge
in Saucy.

Steps to reproduce:

- Install maas using the saucy server install CD.
- Edit /etc/maas/import_pxe_files - set ARCHES to i.e. ARCHES=amd64/generic
- Configure the rest of MaaS, click the import boot images in the UI
- PXE boot a machine

What happens:
The machine PXE boots, gets assigned an IP address by MaaS. The node gets stuck
on Trying to load: pxelinux.cfg/default and finally reboots after a timeout
triggers. This results in an eternal reboot loop.

What should be happening:
The machine PXE boots, gets assigned an IP address, and successfully downloads
a bootable image from tftp, resuming normal operations.

[Bug 1181334] Re: i386 required to install amd64

2013-11-01 Thread Chris Glass
Can confirm, it would save us (the landscape team, but also other users
I wager) a lot of time and disk space if we could only download amd64
images and use that successfully.

[Bug 1247886] Re: squid-deb-proxy is not started when installing MaaS with 13.10 server CD

2013-11-14 Thread Chris Glass
For the record, this affects the precise package as well.
I would strongly recommend uploading a fixed package to the
cloud-archive:tools repository since most people installing maas will use
this (it's the recommended way).

[Bug 1190510] Re: Update lucid, raring, quantal, precise to landscape-client 13.07.3

2013-10-16 Thread Chris Glass
** Description changed:

Landscape Client 13.07.3 has been released. We would like to get these
changes into raring, quantal, precise and lucid.

As far as released version of Ubuntu are concerned, the required pieces
of information for the needed SRU follow (as laid out in the Procedure
  section of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates).

=== Statement explaining the impact ===

This release sports both bug-fixes and new features and we would like to
make sure all of our supported customers (even those on raring, quantal,
precise and lucid) have access to these improvements. The notable ones
  are:

  1) New annotations exchange mechanism allows clients to send any key-value
data to the landscape server (#1123932)
- 2) Network devices now report their maximum theoretical speeds, and duplex
status to landscape-server (#1126330, #1130130)
+ 2) Network devices now report their maximum theoretical speeds, and duplex
status to landscape-server (#1126330, #1130733)
  3) Landscape.client is now HA aware when HA is implemented using juju charms
(#1122508)
  4) The landscape client will now trigger a reboot if server sends a
reboot-required message. (#1133005)
- 5) Big AMP code cleanup and refactoring in order to improve testing, improve
performance and ease future maintainability (#1165047, #1169102, #1170669,
#1170669, #1170669, #1170669, #1170669, #1170669, #1170669, #1170669, #1170669)
+ 5) Big AMP code cleanup and refactoring in order to improve testing, improve
performance and ease future maintainability (#1165047, #1169102, #1170669)
  6) Added logic to detect cloned (virtual) computers (#1161856)
  7) The landscape-client and landscape-common packages do not use or depend on
dbus code anymore, and some legacy plugins using dbus were removed. (#1175553,
#1180691)
  8) The ceph manager plugin is now a monitor plugin and thus does not require
root privileges anymore. (#1186973)

Some packaging-only changes are as follows:
  9) Removed legacy upgrader code from postinst since support for it was
dropped.
  10) French translation patches were removed since the changes were merged
upstream.
  11) The /etc/dbus-1/system.d/landscape.conf file was moved from the
landscape-client package to the landscape-client-ui package. A Replaces rule
was therefore added to the landscape-client-ui package. No Breaks rule was
added since the -ui package requires the exact same version of the -client
package, avoiding the case described in
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/footnotes.html#f53
  12) dependencies on Dbus and hal/udev (python-dbus and gudev) are dropped
from the landscape-client and landscape-common packages, since the client code
does not use dbus at all anymore. The landscape-client-ui package however still
does.

For more details see the aforementioned bugs (all mentioned in the
  debian/changelog of the proposed packages).

=== How the bug has been addressed ===

We have been following the development procedure laid out in
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LandscapeUpdates

Furthermore, the testing procedure results can be seen in

https://wiki.canonical.com/Landscape/ClientSRUTests/13.07.1?action=recallrev=27

  === Patches ===

Debdiff patches against the currently released landscape version are
attached to this bug report, by distribution.

=== Detailed instructions how to reproduce the bug ===

  N/A

  === Discussion ===

All the source packages have been subject to the QA process detailed in
  the LandscapeUpdates document linked above.

helps).

So the way I fixed my installation was to downgrade libwayland0 to
1.0.3-0ubuntu2, and remove ~/.Xauthority (otherwise you can't login).

But yeah, this is introduced by using the qt5 PPA as suggested by the
phone sdk tutorial, AFAICT.

[Bug 1341523] [NEW] New upstream release

2014-07-14 Thread Chris Glass
Public bug reported:

Hi, I recently took over the upstream development of ubumirror.

I just created a new upstream release that fixes a few of the bugs
reported here (as well as general cleanup o fthe codebase and added
examples).

This bug is meant to track the merge proposal I'm about to submit to the
ubuntu ubumirror packaging branch.

Since this is my first contribution to Ubuntu (on the packaging side),
please feel free to point errors in the workflow/procedure :)

[Bug 1436723] [NEW] Regression: Nested LXC is broken on Vivid

2015-03-26 Thread Chris Glass
Public bug reported:

The nested LXC functionality seems to be broken on Vivid, at least with
the following setup:

Vivid (Host) - Trusty (Outer LXC) - Trusty (Inner LXC)

What happens:

The Inner LXC start command fails when trying to start with:
http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/10682639/
( 631 cgroup error? 100 cgroups with this name already running seems to be the
revelant error message).

What is expected to happen:

The inner LXC start command is expected to succeed and result in a
running nested container.

Steps to reproduce:

- Install vivid server daily, update.
- sudo apt-get install lxc
- sudo lxc-create -n outer -t ubuntu -- --release trusty
--mirror=http://ch.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu -b $USER
- sudo su
- echo 'lxc.aa_profile = lxc_container_default_with_nesting'
/var/lib/lxc/outer/config
- exit
- sudo lxc-start -n outer
- (SSH to outer)
- sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
- sudo apt-get install lxc
- sudo lxc-create -n inner -t ubuntu -- --release trusty
--mirror=http://ch.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu -b $USER
- sudo lxc-start -n inner

Fails with: http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/10682639/
Enabling debug logs for this action yields: http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/10682658/

Control: The exact same scenario works on trusty and utopic. Tested by
spinning up server installs (from isos) in KVMs and verifying manually.

Any further log or information available on request, including KVM
images demonstrating the problem.

[Bug 1436723] Re: Regression: Nested LXC is broken on Vivid

2015-04-03 Thread Chris Glass
So, the new lxcfs in vivid-proposed does *not* solve this particular
problem.

Again, running the daily PPA code solved this, but that means using the
ppa for both vivid and trusty, not just vivid.

Don't hesitate to let me know how I can test more/further versions of
LXC, including git branches, if needed.

[Bug 1436723] Re: Regression: Nested LXC is broken on Vivid

2015-04-02 Thread Chris Glass
If both the host (vivid) and the outer guest run LXC from ppa:ubuntu-
lxc/daily, the tested scenario works.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-lxc/daily #on both the vivid host and
at leas the outer guest (trusty).

N.b. Only works if both the host and the first guest run the ppa code -
seems like only the host running the newest code doesn't help.

at leas the outer guest (trusty).

N.b. Only works if both the host and the first guest run the ppa code -
seems like only the host running the newest code doesn't help.

[Bug 1436723] Re: Regression: Nested LXC is broken on Vivid

2015-04-02 Thread Chris Glass
Oh, good to hear.

Can I easily test what's in vivid-proposed, and/or somehow influence the
landing? Since I have a pretty good test set up for this particular
scenario I might as well help you guys :)

[Bug 1482846] [NEW] Wifite 2.0r85-1 fails to capture handshakes

2015-08-08 Thread Chris Glass
Public bug reported:

While auditing my wireless network I realized the -wpa attacks do not
work currently since it seems wifite is unable to capture handshake
packets (it keeps cycling between deauthing and listening but never
manages to capture handshakes).

This obviously makes attacks against WPA fail.

Versions tested on:
vivid, up to date as of 8th of Aug 2015.

$ apt-cache policy wifite
wifite:
  Installed: 2.0r85-1
  Candidate: 2.0r85-1
  Version table:
 *** 2.0r85-1 0
500 http://ch.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid/universe amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

** Affects: wifite (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1464064] Re: Ubuntu apt repos are not available via HTTPS

2015-07-24 Thread Chris Glass
As a quick drive-by comment: HTTPS absolutely destroys package
cacheability, which is a rather desirable feature for invariant,
versionned and signed binary blobs (what deb packages are from an HTTP
perspective).
