This hang in installation might have to do with the flash component, which also hung when i tried to install it from ubuntu software center alone (i.e. w/o the whole restricted extras package). I was trying the restricted extras package because i thought that might be a 'safer' way to get the

OK moving back to confirmed Have had the new BIOS running for a week and have seen the issue recur several times. Current workaround is to boot up, and then open [ System Properties --> Mouse and Touchpad ] mouse properties, where i will only see General (and not Touchpad). I then close the lid
