As cking noted in #4 this would cause a performance impact for ext2/3.
That alone prevents it from moving into the stable saucy kernel.
Additionally this is a significant enough change that it would not satisfy the

I had a similar issue with my Asus ux32vd zenbook prime laptop. This
problem affected windows as well as linux, the only way I was able to
resolve this is by pulling the cmos battery *(there was no cmos jumper)
waiting and waiting a while before putting it all back together again.

I have verified the above results in a virtual machine, netperf, and
netserver were both showing 41-42% cpu usage while per cpu usage were
showing 63-65%.

There seems to be two issues at play in that bug. Not sure how much
they are related. One where people can get to the virtual consoles
using ctrl+alt+f1 and one where they are not.
When my machine comes back from resume it does not take any input, but
instead drops me at a black screen with a

In the case where the virtual consoles are reachable the nouveau driver
is in use.
In the case where there is just a black screen with a cursor and no
interactivity the nvidia drivers are in use.

Holding shift+ctrl+alt to move thunderbird to a new desktop does not
repaint thunderbird after having moved to the new desktop.
Clicking on the thunderbird icon in the unity dash does not cause a
repaint of thunderbird. Only moving to another desktop, and back again
will
After a restart, this issue no longer reproduces. I'll leave this open
in case I see this issue again.

Nevermind, now, the same repaint issue is occurring, but with Chrome.
All other currently open application can be moved successfully.
