When starting up Lucid alpha 2 after an online upgrade from Karmic, boot
stops with these messages on screen:
mount: mount point /proc/bus/usb does not exist
mountall: mount /proc/bus/usb [642] terminated with status 32
mountall: Filesystem could not be mounted:
Guess what? Without that line in /etc/fstab, booting works fine. This is
still a bug, though, because whatever handled the removal of that mount
point should have removed it from the fstab automatically. Don't know
why it hasn't happened to others yet, but alpha 2 is only a day old, so
we'll see

As far as I've tried, if you set a proxy in gnome-network-properties,
making sure to use Apply System-Wide before leaving, synaptic *does*
in fact use the proxy, through gksu, sudo or otherwise. The only caveat
is that gnome-network-properties doesn't carry any proxy authentication
values to the

Actually, it turns out, that no extra kernel drivers are needed. All
that was needed to get reboot working was `reboot=bios', but of course,
it only works on x86-32, so if I want to have an x86-64 installation,
I'm out of luck. Then again, this netbook only has 1GB of RAM, so x86-64
