I've tried to reproduce this bug:
gconf-editor - apps - nautilus - list_view - I've checked
default_sort_in_reverse_order
I've create two new documents a and b and insert them in a new folder. I've
entered the folder and found first b and after a.
I unchecked default_sort_in_reverse_order,
I can confirm this in Maverick 10.10 i386 2.6.35-24.42 with pm-utils
1.4.1-3 trying to install laptop-mode-tools 1.52-1ubuntu2.

Seems you have a problem with firmware-b43-installer package. Try typing the
following command in a terminal:
sudo apt-get remove --purge firmware-b43-installer
Please test if you have still wifi connection and tell us if the issue
is still present.
Thanks in advance
