I can resolve ipv6 addresses with both my router and isp's dns too (but
cannot access ipv6 websites).
Disabling ipv6 in firefox (about:config, set network.dns.disableIPv6)
fixes the issue (in firefox) for me (and pages load visibly faster with
my isp's dns too, see Bug #313218).

I have exactly the same problem. Same output in the logs. Same Card (5520) in a

I'm using the same configuration and the vpn is started successfully if
I start it using /etc/init.d/openvpn start in both cases.
I guess something is up with the init.d-upstart transition but I'm not
sure.

As there was an upgrade to kernel (2.6.31-13.45) there would have been a
Superblock issue. - and was not.

Neither rar-compat nor scrollkeeper was installed.
At that moment the alpha began to erode massively. I reinstalled

sudo mount -t vboxsf -o uid=1000,gid=1000 extras /media/xtra
After that the boot resulted in this output (trying 3 rounds with no

I'm one of the 5%.
VirtualBox shared folder is to blame
(which I mount in my /etc/fstab with the line
extras /media/xtra vboxsf uid=1000,gid=1000,rw 0 0
stops the photon torpedos ;-)
When I remove the line everything's smooth and perfect.
I've included a tar.gz where you see:
In the meantime I've upgraded to the new linux 2.6.31.13
And now I have the hanging without your repository as described above:

With or without your ~beta5: kernel 2.6.31-12 will hang with a VBd in
the /etc/fstab.
Is the mountall.log of any interest for you, when the VBd is NOT mounted
(which I am forced now, because otherwise my kernel won't work)?
And afterwards I only can supply you with a mountall.log
After a walk with my dog my brain is either complete damaged or working
better:
IMHO Ubuntu is trying now to start a VBd wich only can work if the
VirtualBox Guestadditions are allready working, which are working AFTER
all harddisks are mounted.
And you can't start the VirtualBox Guestadditions

In Karmic, the options have changed a little bit. I have an alert sound
set in sound preferences. Firefox, Transmission and Terminal no longer
use de PC speaker, but now the don't beep at all...
I guess this bug should be marked fixed and another bug opened for the
new behaviour?

I retried the upgrade on a copy of the system with update-manager -d
(after installing apt-get install update-manager) - nothing evil
happened

- the crash occured again!
