Updating firmware of my ZTE MF636 to V1.0.4B11 (from V1.0.2B01) using a
win-application from my local 3G data provider fixed all problems regarding
instability of /dev/ttyUSBx creation/removal.
Tested on Ubuntu 10.04 (2.6.32-29-generic #58)
Now I can use my ZET MF636 as expected!

thanks for keeping track on old and minor bugs. Yes the 'bug' still exists as
you can see at the attached screenshot. My test procedure was the same as in my
initial report. There is no tricks to test it, anybody can have the same result
by just formating a small USB memo

Although wvdial and dependencies are included into CD of 10.04 are NOT
installed by default!
Suppose a user needs wvdial to connect an unsupported modem without
alternate internet connection:
You do not need to download them, just use the .iso or LiveCD or LiveUSB
following the procedur
I am not sure if it helps but Fedora 12 does not have this problem (Palimpsest

Hi Sergiu Bivol and Id2ndR .
At this time (2.6.31-12-generic) system gets frozen/stuck etc. with both ZTE
MF636 and Huawei E169.
Today a lot of updates change the beta 'stability' to full floating...
For the MF636 the 'workaround' is simpler than windows:
- boot without modem
- sudo stop network-
The same problem exists on today's UNR live (+recent updates) using:
System > Appearance > Visual Effects > Normal OR Extra

Bluetooth ON/OFF works as expected.

The 'suspend/resume' problem is reproducible with my Huawei E169 on EeePC1000H
if I suspend without manually disconnected (from network manager icon). After
resume, broadband connection option is NOT appearing at nm icon. This can be
'solved' with:
sudo killall modem-manager
which 'kills' modem

I am using an EeePC 1000H which has an 'integrated' bluetooth module.
You can enable/disable it via BIOS setup (pressing F2 at boot).
When the bluetooth is disabled the 'bluetooth-applet' process is running
but the icon is not on top panel. From System > Preferences > Bluetooth
you can be informed
Hi, after a clean install (daily-live of 15 Sep) and full updates, "turn
ON/OFF bluetooth" is not appearing when clicking bluetooth icon. Four
options are there: Send files, Browse files, Set up new device,
Preference. (new installation means no bluetooth device never used).

attached is the PrintScreen after formatting a USB mem stick to another desktop
PC (same Ubuntu/nautilus versions).
Two windows of File Browser appeared for the same USB mem (one partition,
default 'fat').
