I don't think this is a compiz issue. I installed from scratch 7.10 and
everything works. Also a test account was all fine. X, compiz, keyboard,
all fine.
Then I took the harddisk with the /home from another 7.04 install and
tried to login to those users (after updating /etc/passwd of course). I
what I did to make it work:
move the home dir somewhere else and create a completely empty one with
the same user and mode
then login. it works.
logout again.
move everything except dot files to the working homedir.
also move those dotfiles you know have nothing to do with gnome, like .mozilla

This was a longer running firefox, had just done lots of youtube watching, but

I clicked on 2 links in thunderbird (external links opening in firefox)

upgrading to the latest flash plugin solved most of the issues, so it was the
plugin's fault.
I still see problems when I have sound in java applets. So that's another
plugin needing an update on it's sound management.

I ripped out the DVD-RW when the tray opens shortly. It then
retracts...and... k3b does this:

I am alos hanging on this problem
interesting is that I can use xbindkeys to bind xvidtune -next to about any
keyboard combination except for Control+Alt+KP_Add
So the functionality is halfway there and halfway gone.
I'm using now the binding Control+Alt+plus and Control+Alt+minus which
are the
today mine crashed while entering password:
double click, thunderbird opens
I click in another xterm (thunderbird looses focus)
I start to type there
comes thunderbird's password prompt (it takes focus)
the password field gets one charactar of what I was typing, then thunderbird
locks up.

looks like /var/crash gets cleaned up after a reboot? Anyway, crashdump
is lost because it's no longer in there.

I've met this while trying to mount a UFS2 partition with gnome-mount.
To mount an UFS2 partition, the option ufstype=ufs2 is mandatory.
However, when putting it in the option field and trying to mount the volume, it
reports an error telling
Note: As the support for UFS2 in the Linux kernel (since 2.6.5) is for
read only, the exact input for the option field should be ro
ufstype=ufs2, although this doesn't change anything to the problem.
