I have attached a debdiff here, that removes the patch mentioned above.
Now the modules build fine with module-assistant on my hardy (i386) test vm.
Can somebody explain why this patch was included in the first place?
Otherwise the package could be updated if there are no objections
against it.
I have investigated the problem further:
The patch seems to be needed, when the modules have to be built for a kernel
other than the currently running one.
I believe there where two typos in the patch:
It has to be ifdef KVERREL instead of ifeq KVERREL - module-assistant
passes the kernel
I've been unable to recreate this bug using update-manager version
1:0.87.12 in Hardy Heron, too.
Chrigu, could you please recheck whether the problem still exists with the
current version of update-manager?

it seems that your setup is not using the nforce2 cpufreq driver, but
the powernow-k8 driver - which is correct, I think, since the Athlon64
X2 supports PowerNow. (My Athlon XP does not)

desperately need ICQ on hardy NOW. You can verify via the Launchpad generated
diff that he actually did apply the versionnumber patch only.
So no trust issues in this case - if you trust the

Backing up open files without some kind of snapshotting (lvm snapshots
or similar) is bad anyways. AFAIK the warnings mentioned above are
supposed to warn about such cases.
