What graphics chip/driver are you using?
Oxygen, the default theme, uses transparency for the sliders (and
apparently status bars as well, so this issue is most likely caused by
your driver not being able to handle this incredible new technology of
transparency :P

If we were sorcerers fixing it would be trivial indeed. Thing is, we are
only ninjas, so no luck there.
Anywho, KUser is going to be rewritten from scratch, with new user interface
and fancy design and stuff. That is only going to happen for KDE 4.3 or 4.4
though, until then this bug will not

The current trace is totally unusable, as indicated by the amount of (no
debugging symbols found) messages, in theory a good backtrace should have no

ubiquity messes up and creates the issues described above (in case of
language packs you end up with an untranslated desktop). I have been
told a fix is to be expected in 8.10 final, so I am going to mark this

Binary package hint: schafkopf
Schafkopf is a KDE 3 card game. It depends on libkdegames (from KDE 3)
and doesn't build with the KDE 4 version. A KDE 4 version of Schafkopf
is not insight so 0.6-1build4 source and binary should be removed from
Intrepid.

We just did a measurement:
with desktop effects:
4.2% ( 43.1) kwin
without desktop effects:
0.2% ( 0.3) kwin
We learn: turn off your desktop effects (which will be configurable in
Kubuntu 9.04, which is coming with an advanced power manager, also the
wakeups in knotify4
Click the cashew then you can move all the widgets around.

don't move the mouse cursor a lot while doing this. If you think it stopped
doing something special (like your harddisk stops spinning), press ctrl+c and
