gnome-panel takes several minutes
Making me install the xorg-edgers repository would be useless. I have
already tried that, and only ppa-purge saved me from having to wipe the
entire freaking system to reinstall. I never saw any Unix system produce
a more violent crash/lockup/retry cycle than that repository did to my
machine.
I'm simply saying that it is entirely untestable on my machine, because
just running the packages in that repository on that hardware made me
think my monitor was about to blow its tube.
isn't it possible to get the old Intrepid driver working with Lucid's X
version, or has it changed too much?
I used to get unstable initialization, but now EMU-0202 no longer works for me
at all.
Backports with alsa-drivers used to provide 96Khz sampling, but now backports
just causes 100% CPU hang as soon as the EMU-0202 is connected.

repeatedly removing the /var/cache/apt/archives and

I've now been using Lucid Lynx,10.04 LTS, Desktop version on my Dell
GX520 with Brother MFC-8840DN for several weeks. Printing is accurate
and has not error-ed a single time with this version. I have had
multiple updates that updated different parts of the printing subsystem,
and still no major
sad to say, epson t10 printer does not work anymore even on the final
ubuntu 10.04 lucid lynx release. You can install the driver (epson Txx)
successfully and even send a print test page command, but no response
from the printer (Epson T10 previously worked in Karmic using the T20
driver). BTW,
Considering that 3.0.0 doesn't actually work with lucid (or karmic)
properly, it would be nice to have the new version available.

my notebook has the same wireless card/chip. I don't have the problem as you,
but I also don't boot into windows (it's not here).
Since I found the workaround with module unloading I was never required to
reboot the system to get wireless working.

I can confirm this issue exists in the latest development release,
release candidate fully updated. I also updated to kernel 2.6.34 rc5 and
the problem is still present. I am attempting to attach the debug info
from the command you gave me, but unfortunately with the problem re-
