I am running i386 Ubuntu 10.04 with this error. Neither lsusb nor
ndiswrapper will run without freezing up and staying frozen. This also

I just got the same issue with my upgraded box (from 9.10 to 10.04):
When pressing the volume keys on my Cherry Stream keyboard, CPU consumes
100% and I'm not able to input anything anymore. Mouse control works
however. If I switch over to tty1 and back to X with CTRL+ALT+F1 the
keyboard works agai

I'm also getting the same issue on an ASUS VivoBook K451LB (x86_64, UEFI
boot). 5.3.0-19.20 is the last kernel that boots on this system, all
subsequent ones fail and drop to the initramfs prompt.
Unpacking /boot/initrd.img-5.3.0-19-generic and
/boot/initrd.img-5.3.0-23-generic (using unmkinitramf

So it seems it has been fixes in upstream several months ago:

I had 1.0.8 installed on Ubuntu 14.04 before it was made impossible
(because of potential problem with backported graphic stack on 14.04.2).
Anyway it was well installed and the missing letter bug was also
present. Note that Intel driver is not annonced as compatible for HD
graphic 5500.

Unfortunately, the proposed package don't fix my problem.
I install the proposed package :
dpkg -l | grep video-intel | grep ii$
ii xserver-xorg-video-intel-lts-utopic
2:2.99.914-1~exp1ubuntu4.3~trusty1 amd64X.Org X server
-- Intel i8xx, i9xx display
It seems. I mark Bug #1432194 as duplicate as Chris told me it was the
same bug as the current one. As some people may have the same different
issue, what should I do? Create a new bug? De-depulicate #1432194 ?

available and if it's the case, may you tell me which onehave to be
installed? I'm currently using linux-signed-image-generic-lts-utopic
(UEFI & SecureBoot enable).

- 3.16.0-36 not booting , Dell Latitude 7450, Intel i7 (Broadwell GT2)
- 3.16.0-34 works fine if selected in grub to boot

So Bug #1374389 is supposed to fix this issue, but installing updated
kernel from it (Bug #1374389, available for all in updates!) introduce
the kernel won't boot Bug #1449401 for me and others.
When #1449401 will be fixed I will report here if updated kernel from
Bug #1374389 fix or not this HD
Similar as Pirouette Cacahuète: Blackscreen is illuminated. I do not see
any splash screen, nor X. Failsafe mode works, booting with "nomodeset"
works.
