Title:
Clevo N850EL crashes / freezes under Ubuntu 18.04.1
To manage
Good evening!
I can give feedback right away from the last 2 notes.
The other workaround proposed (in askubuntu.com) of adding a kernel
parameter intel_idle.max_cstate=1 seems to work well (max uptime tested
is 6h 45min so far).
Regarding the indication to use 4.18.3-041803-generic, I

prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?
No upgrade. This is a fresh install, on a brand new laptop computer.
> Please test the latest v4.18 kernel[0].
I've tested the mainline kernel build

The details of what I've attempted so far are in

Any workaround help greatly appreciated. (I do not need NVIDIA graphics,
but I do need VirtualBox).

I decided to try to get more information. When plasmashell crashes, I
can run Alt+F2 and start a Ksonsole session. During that session, I've
tried to restart plasmashell at the prompt (it crashes again) and here
is the output:
carla@pacific:~$ plasmashell
QStandardPaths: XDG_RUNTIME_DIR not set,
Hello? Does anybody has any hint about this problem? Is there anything
that I can do to help out?
This bug has rendered the system almost unusable to the people who
actually uses it!

Friendly ping. The bug is affecting most of the Bionic CI mechanisms
that uses the gazebo simulator. i.e. https://github.com/ros-
simulation/gazebo_ros_pkgs/pull/796#issuecomment-411387717
