[Bug 1740175] Re: Ubuntu 17.10 not resuming from suspend, freezing on shut down

2018-02-20 Thread Matt G
The issue is with suspend. It suspends perfectly if I just boot up and
immediately try it. If I work on a project in vs code for a couple
hours, it almost always freezes.

[Bug 1740175] Re: Ubuntu 17.10 not resuming from suspend, freezing on shut down

2018-01-06 Thread Matt G
I was able to fix the stop job on shut down, but I froze again on
'reboot: Power down' - it looks like the hard drive is turning off but
the screen stays on.

[Bug 1740175] Re: Ubuntu 17.10 not resuming from suspend, freezing on shut down

2018-01-05 Thread Matt G
I did a number of the steps in the link provided for debugging to the
best of my ability (i'm pretty new). Last night I had an issue with
shutdown: after running a stop job on mysql community server the system
froze on 'reboot: Power down'. I just properly turned off the i915
driver and updated grub, so i'll see if that has any impact.

2018-01-04 Thread Matt G
So, 'echo freeze | sudo tee /sys/power/state' seems to work quite
smoothly. Is there any reason NOT to use this from here on out instead
of 'systemctl suspend'. Could quite well solve my issue.

[Bug 579723] Re: kvm memory ballooning is unusable in Lucid

2010-06-09 Thread Matt G
I'm afraid I'm still having some issues. I'm most likely just missing
some subtle thing entirely...

I edited the apparmor profile, and the vm starts just fine. I update the
memory with both setmaxmem and setmem, however, a virsh dominfo qa-matt
still yields:

2010-05-28 Thread Matt G
I have, sorry I didn't post that. Yes, I can execute it from my
path(Can't give the exact output since I'm away from that machine at the
moment though).

2010-05-27 Thread Matt G
I also find this is a problem, but your fix doesn't work.

# cat /usr/bin/kvm-balloon
#!/bin/bash
/usr/bin/kvm -balloon virtio $@

# virsh start qa-matt
error: Failed to start domain qa-matt
error: monitor socket did not show up.: No such file or directory

# uname -a
Linux qa02 2.6.32-21-server #32-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 16 09:17:34 UTC 2010 x86_64
GNU/Linux

Any thoughts? I'd really like to be able to add my RAM dynamically :)

[Bug 582944] [NEW] package phpmyadmin 4:3.3.2-1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed pre-removal script returned error exit status 1

2010-05-19 Thread Matt G
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: phpmyadmin

I was trying to install LAMP using the instructions found on

http://www.howtoforge.com/ubuntu_lamp_for_newbies

These instructions worked fine on 9.10

I installed Apache2 and PHP5 no problem.

Then I installed MySQL using:
sudo apt-get install mysql-server

And finally I installed phpmyadmin:
sudo apt-get install libapache2-mod-auth-mysql php5-mysql phpmyadmin

But phpmyadmin was never able to read the mysql password table. I always got
the error:
1290 - The MySQL server is running with the --skip-grant-tables option so it
cannot execute this statement

So I went to uninstall phpmyadmin and got this bug.
It seems that there are problems with mysql and Lucid Lynx.

[Bug 544317] Re: Contact List of Empathy went blank.

2010-04-06 Thread Matt G
I see this bug in both my i386 and AMD64 versions of Ubuntu 9.10.

In the mean time I've switched to Pidgin.
But I would rather use Empathy (Same version as #1)

Installed: 2.28.1.1-0ubuntu1

[Bug 550979] Re: Volume increase decrease by function buttons never release on Dell Studio 1558

2010-04-06 Thread Matt G
Moved this bug report over from bug #465250

I'm running Karmic (9.10) amd64 on my Dell Studio 1558 (Intel Core i3
processor) and I also experience this bug.

The mute key (F7) works fine.
But the volume up (F9) and volume down (F8) keys have problems
Not only do they not stop increasing (or decreasing) in volume, but my computer
becomes unresponsive.
I find myself having to press control + alt + delete to restart (brings me back
to the good old days of Windows!)

Looking forward to a fix.

@Jerone

Thank you for the file. So if I understand correctly, copying 95
-keyboard-force-release.rules to /lib/udev/rules.d/ will only work on
10.04, and not on 9.10?
