[Bug 1791437] Re: Can't use pbuilder inside simple lxc container?

2018-09-09 Thread Mattia Rizzolo
Yes and no. In the case of the makedev installation phase I think it
can be somewhat senseful to not create the device nodes if it's not
going to work.

But here we are talking about debootstrap, which only creates a very few
device nodes for some important devs, like /dev/null… You are going to
need it, if you disallow its creation you can't expect it to work.

For this case, I expect just running the deboostrap (= `pbuilder
create`) phase out of lxc and the rest inside to just work, btw.

[Bug 1791437] Re: Can't use pbuilder inside simple lxc container?

2018-09-08 Thread Mattia Rizzolo
That's your lxc configuration that doesn't allow mknode(2), so you can't
run debootstrap within it. So it'd say your environment is too
restrictive to do what you want to do.

"pip install httplib2" is no workaround for a bug in a debian package
anyway.

And if you already know it's something that has to do with httplib2, why
did you assign this bug to ubuntu-dev-tools instead of python-httplib2
(which will be updated at some point, a contributor contacted me to
update the library in Debian just a few days ago :))

2018-07-06 Thread Mattia Rizzolo
TTBOMK the version of the Danish dictionary is 2.1 from 2012-07-14,
according to the README_da_DK.txt that is next to the source files.

According to the changelog, the Danish dictionary was last updated in
this update:

2015-05-18 Andras Timar
[ad516f720628c1af494733138ffc4a7b382599a6]

tdf#87735 updated Danish dictionary

Change-Id: I2eac7ea898ef6a5954af9bb99f44d8c59c91e3fd

(that bug reference expands to
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87735)

To get it updated you'd need to ask libreoffice to update the bundled copy,
providing a newer version. That should be done by filing a bug on
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=LibreOffice using the
component "Linguistic".

[Bug 1757637] Re: Please port your package away from Qt 4

2018-04-29 Thread Mattia Rizzolo
Control: tag -1 wontfix

 affects ubuntu/flightcrew
 status wontfix
 importance wishlist

It won't happen: the package doesn't have an upstream anymore.

If a patch doesn't show up by the time Qt4 is ready to be removed, I
recommend just removing this package as well.
See also this RFA: https://bugs.debian.org/861997 if you want to make it
work with Qt5.

2) I believe your system in an inconsistent state or something (which _may_ be
a bug somewhere, but not here). Indeed your DpkgHistoryLog.txt is reporting

[Bug 1597322] Re: necessary sk1libs isn't packaged

I'm clearly failing to find interest in doing it, mostly because I don't
want to be stuck in maintaining such software I have no interest to (and
uploading and forgetting is something I hate…)

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We understand the difficulties you
are facing, but it is better to raise problems you are having in the
support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are
uncertain if they are bugs. You can also find help with your problem in
the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/
or asking at http://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org. For help

According to the crash tracker, this happened since 0.91 all the way to

but that's probably only because of the LTS, etc).

[Bug 1626248] Re: libunistring0 has not been updated since 2010

2018-02-03 Thread Mattia Rizzolo
I'm sorry it took so long to receive a reply about this bug report.

However I am going to close it because there is nothing actionable here.
That error you reported is incredibly unhelpful, and it' not caused by anything
from this package. We'd need to know what is asking dpkg to explicitly
configure libunistring0 whilst already being done.
If you are still affected by this issue please contact user support to figure
the best way forward; also most probably it's some kind of misconfiguration on
your part anyway.

[Bug 1735363] Re: inkscape: Port to Python 3

2018-01-09 Thread Mattia Rizzolo
The main → universe move as I see it has more of a logistic change:
theoretically speaking, as long as it is in main Canonical could be called upon
providing commercial support if any customer asked for it, as well as providing
security patches if any security breach appeared, etc.
At any rate, yes, nothing to be concerned about: actually using a Ubuntu
desktop without universe is just plain impossible anyway.

Plus, libxml2 is only one of the many packages that fails, the first
error is this:

 package libpcre3:amd64 2:8.41-1.1+ubuntu14.04.1+deb.sury.org+4 cannot

[Bug 1467422] Re: package yoshimi-data 1.1.0-2 failed to install/upgrade: package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting configuration

2017-12-17 Thread Mattia Rizzolo
That's clearly due to something bad that happened to the system, for example an
interrupted dpkg process or a damaged file system.
Ask user support on how to get your system back in good shape, but this is not
a package bug.

[Bug 1738644] Re: pkg-create-dbgsym removes debhelper 10

That's definitely intentional as pkg-create-dbgsym is deprecated in
favour of the similar functionality provided by dh_strip since debhelper
10.

[Bug 1738395] Re: Drop unused dependencies for lighter installation requirements

2017-12-15 Thread Mattia Rizzolo
Might I recommend you to send this bug report (and the patch) to Debian
instead?

The packaging is unchanged from Debian, and it would be a pity to differ
just for this.

2017-12-07 Thread Mattia Rizzolo
pyclean is part of python-minimal...
Do you perhaps have some manual python installation that removed
/usr/bin/pyclean? Or are you running with a PATH that doesn't include /usr/bin
or something equivalently crazy?

Or at the very least, please check if you have /usr/bin/pyclean and it
works.

2017-11-10 Thread Mattia Rizzolo
This like this are usually caused by interrupted installations or so.
You should do what the errors tell you to, e.g. reinstall the package (i.e.
`apt install --reinstall`).

At any rate, please try to contact user support.
